Sorry everyone one, My compture was out getting fixed so i havent been able to get on..
Way to go Christine, it looks like your just racking up the point..
I think with Christine's buck that will bump us up to first place.

Been quiet on here for quite awhile. Anyone getting out with the bow at all? I am going to try and get out a couple days next week.
I've gotten out once since gun season ended here in Wisconsin. But this wed we have another one starting with does only. I will get out once with my bow and orange on during this hunt. Then I have archery only again for a bit until dec 24th then a holiday gun season starts and goes until the first weekend in January.
I will be getting back at it Thursday evening with the bow. It's been 3 weeks so it will almost be like opening day all over again.
I will be heading out this evening with the bow.
I didn't see a single deer. We really need a big huge cold front to move in and get those big boys back on their feet in daylight hours. Now that the second gun season is over I will be getting out at least a couple times a week until muzzle loader season then that last month as much as possible to try and get my freezer a little fuller. |
I will be heading out Saturday evening for a post storm hunt!!!!!

i hunted yesterday morning and evening, saw 7 doe and 2 1.5 year bucks and a handfull of does on the evening sit. ill be back out this evening, and a few more times up until the 1st of next year. Merry Christmas guys! And good luck to those still hunting! |
I did not see a thing. Ditto for most of the other people I talk with around here. The deer are really bottled up after the rut and the two gun seasons. I don't think I have ever saw the entire herd in our area go nocturnal. I am hoping with this huge mid-week snow storm I will start seeing deer in daylight hours again.
I will be heading out this afternoon as the land owner has been seeing deer near my stand from his living room window.
I will be heading out this evening again. The land owner said since the snow fell on Wednesday he is seeing deer in daylight again. Hopefully this evening will be a good one for me!!!!!
I finally saw some deer again. I saw 4. I was definitely encouraged by this and will be at it again Monday, New Year's Eve.
Well the seasons officially over here in Michigan. Sorry guys, never made it back out with the bow once rifle season hit. After the first week of that was hard to see a deer let alone get one within bow range. Ended up taking a six and 2 does, one was this mornin. So the freezers full but sure didn't do the team score any good. Thanks for a good contest guys and congrats to all that got it done.

I had no deer sightings Thursday night. But, I was greatly encouraged by this. It looks like a deer highway through these pines. There is barely a spot of snow that doesn't have a deer track on it. Here is a pic from my stand.
Congrats MOTF! I will be out this weekend for the last hunt of the season.
Friday evening at last light I shot a doe with the bow. From what I saw I had a high lung shot and the doe was quartering towards me. I got down and saw decent blood but not great blood. I decided to back out and get on the track first thing in the morning. I figured with all the snow down and the cold air the meat will be ok as long as the yotes don't get her first. I will post an update and hopefully pics after I find her.
Sorry to keep you guys in suspense for so long but I have been crazy busy. Here is how it went. Well the shot must not have been as good as I thought. The first 50 yards it looked good. Then the blood turned really dark and slowed way down. I gave her over 15 hours. We tracked her a little over 1/2 mile then lost all blood. Did not see one spot where she bedded down. I think she may have survived the hit.

Sorry everyone, I had alot of bad luck this year and did not get one on the ground. I shot a buck on the 6th of November and hit him bout halfway between the heart and the spine, directly above the heart. I thought it was a good shot and about 20 minutes after I shot him it started to rain. So, I got down and started tracking. It was good blood even with the rain I didnt have any problems following it. We found three different beds and my arrow in the third bed. And that is the last sign we found of the deer. I know he is dead somewhere in the area but we could not find him. He would have been in the 130 range. My 10 year old came out with my brother so I was trying to get him a shot at one for half of my trip. He did miss a doe twice but he loved it.....lol He's already talking about going with us next season. I also missed a buck while he was in the tree with me. It was in the 120 range so that added to his excitement. Then a few days ago, Jan, 14th I missed another deer. It was a button buck that I thought was a doe until he came directly under me and was munching on some cedar branches I had cut off the tree behind me. I probably could have taken another shot at him but didnt want to wound him so, I passed. Hope everyone had a little better luck than me.
