my 2010 entry
I wish i could tell about a great hunt where i called this gobbler in.....but theres not much to tell on this one.after laying in the rain, lightning Sat. after work for over an hour watching this bird i finally took two shots and it was just too far.Sunday morning on the way to work i see him and his 2 hens headed along a field edge and i park and head him off. i shot him in the head from BEHIND him ,but i found a couple pellets in his breast meat so i know it's the bird i missed the day before.same field and 2 hens both times.REDEMTION IS SWEET !
these are the INDIANA check station measurements
in the pics I measured the spurs in inches at 1 inch each.
and the plexiglass weighs a couple lbs.
22 lbs. 14 oz.
spurs 28 mm [1 inch]
beard length 10 1/2 inches
i scored him at 63.05
Indiana bird

First off congrats to all who have taken birds. Got me another one this moning, he scores slightly more than my first bird so i guess this one is my entry?
18lbs 7oz
9.5in beard
1in spurs

Your score is 18.4375 + 10 + 10 + 19 = 57.4375

Roosted this bird the night before and set up in good position this morn. Got settled in around 445 and by 5 he was gobbling less than 100 yards behind me in the woods, on the roost. He gobbled his head off non stop until 630. While on the ground and heading toward me he gobbled very little, but knew there was a hen he wanted to check out. He stepped into the field at 20 yards and fanned out when he saw my deeks, a few seconds later he was dead. This is my 3rd year turkey hunting and the 1st bird that I have harvested alone, usually I'm with my uncle and he calls them in and I have the easy job of shooting them.
23 lbs
3/4 " spurs L/R
9 inch beard
Not sure how to make the pics larger....
