Alright Colbea, Congrats man. Like Kim says, that's #5 for the team, and no jakes yet, which if someone on the team wants to shoot a jake, by all means, don't "NOT" shoot it just cause it won't score high for the team.

Good luck on the 5 bearded stud Kim. If ya can kill it, you'll have a trophy tom of a life time.

car 04-28-2010 08:49 AM

Zero so far. Never heard that first bird this morning. I can't believe this. I've tag two birds almost every year since I started turkey hunting.

Turkey Goddess 04-28-2010 11:42 AM

Car - don't get too frustrated - we're having the same problem here. It's my first (of many) turkey hunt, but everyone's telling me that it's been a WEIRD season. How much time do you have left in your season? Hang in there...

Thanks Howler :) I'm not crazy enough to think I will get a shot off on him, but I'm hopeful enough that the opportunity is there and that totally fires me up!!! LOL :)

Keep at it guys!!!

Kim :)

Good news! Ohio is holding a jake convention. They have to be because that has been all I've seen lol.

Called in 4 jakes all at the same time this morning. If I was to shoot all of them and glue there beard together I might have a 10" beard.

I do have 2 more weeks before season ends.

Sorry I haven't scored for the team yet :(

I hate to tell all of you this but, I had the highest scoring bird a few years back in this contest. It don't look like I'm even going to come close this year.

Going up to my camp, Pike Co. NE-PA. My place borders 12,000 acres of the Delaware State forest. Hunting them Bid Woods turkeys are TUFF. Its a good spot with lots of birds. Next week I will be up there for 5 days and will do some day trips to Suskie county that is about a 2 hour drive from my camp in Pike. I have permission to hunt two farms, about 800 acres. This is my honey hole for turkeys!!! Its some of the best turkey land in the state!!!! I can't wait!!!! PA stars on saturday and its about time!!!!! Be Safe

Congrats bigbucks! Hang in there, Kim...your turn is coming! I'm headed out again on Thursday. Can we enter multiples in this contest?

Turkey Goddess 05-03-2010 09:38 AM

Definitely Screemin Steel!!! We get points for every turkey killed. :) (Right Arrowmaster?). So go get #2!!! WooHoo!!!

Still sittin in my blind - gonna wait it out a couple more hours and try another spot this evening. Not hearing any gobbles - but never giving up!!!!!

Kim :)

Howler 05-03-2010 01:55 PM

I may be wrong, BUT I think we each get to enter one bird apiece, BUT I think if you kill one and then a second bigger/better scoring bird, you can enter the bigger of the two.

Congrats on the latest team entry kills. And welcome to the new killer on the team. Keep after'em everyone, we're doing pretty good as a team so far.

hatchet jack 05-03-2010 03:09 PM

Was out Saturday and had 2 birds coming in to my calls off the roost. They hung up at 70 yards so I shut up. The next thing I know another hunter moved in on the other side of the ridge and started to work the birds. They hug around some then walked off. Oh well that hunting on State land on the first day. I go up tomorrow to hunt for 4 straight days and will have the woods to myself. I have 2 tags so the Jakes better lookout. Deep fried Jake breast is best served with Backstrap!!! which I have !!!! Turkey vacation is here !!!! YEE HA!!!!! CONGRATS bigBuckspa13 nice Bird for the team!!! Team 2 is hot!!!! Check back with the team on Sunday!!!! Good Luck Team 2, Be Safe!!!!

Yep, Howlers got it right. You don't get extra credit for additional birds... you simply enter the largest. One entry per hunter.

Arrowmaster 05-03-2010 07:39 PM

Congrats bigbucks. Im posting your score which is 19.5 + 8.75 + 9.375 + 17.5 = 55.125 Can you post a pic of you and your bird

You are correct Howler :)

Turkey Goddess 05-04-2010 06:44 AM

Ok - that kind of confused me, but now I get it. As a TEAM every bird accumulates points for our team score, but the largest of any multiple kills will be counted for our individual score towards the best bragging right of all - the highest scoring turkey. Hope that helps clarify this for u guys too!

Well boys - God delivered me the perfect day for turkey hunting _ beautiful and calm. No breeze at all. First decent day since the opening day (4/21). Sat in my blind for 11 hours yesterday and prepared to do that again today. Unless of course some poor unfortunate turkey struts his stuff within 40 yds of me, then I'll be packing up and moving out! I'm liable to be so happy about that, I'd skip out of the woods whistlin' dixie!!! :) Haha. Of course, I don't think pack-mules skip or whistle and that's EXACTLY what I look like coming in or out! LMAO. :) HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Kim :)

good job everyone that got there bird. :barmy:

Turkey Goddess 05-05-2010 06:54 AM

Hey guys! Another pretty good day here in Indiana. In a new spot today - put my blind along a strut zone. No decoy - no calling - just gonna sit. All the turkeys have gone quiet - figure I will try doing the same and just put myself where I know they'll show up. Doing a little bit of leaf raking here and there, but for the most part, the name of the game today is silence and patience... Just need him to show me his stuff, so I can show him mine! Haha :). Have a great day!!!

Kim :)

Might try in the morning. Sat was the last day I've been out. Work just keeps on getting in the way. This has been a strange year for me.

Well here he is. It rain all day Sunday and Sunday night. So on Monday morning it was still raining off and on. At 7:40 i got my first one to answer and at 7:58 he was on the ground with a tag on his leg. Then at 8:00 it started to pour, so after a 45min walk in the rain back to the Jeep it didnt do justice for the turkey. So sorry about the pics they was taken in the rain.
