well guys i know i havent been on here to much but farming has been keeping us busy and so has school. I did finally kill a bird but it was a jake and he wouldnt have scored anything his beard wasnt even an inch and he just had nubs for spurs. Tommorow is the last day of season here in IL so i hope to put down a gobbler on the last day.
|
Good luck Down&Out!!! I've got 4 days left here. I hope you get one! :)
Kim :) |
GOOD NEWS! The jake convention is over, all I heard was a one hen.
|
LOL car!!! Haha :) I just want 2 know when the gobbler convention starts!!!
Kim :) |
I still swear the toms must have been abducted by aliens! Haha. I have bruises on my shoulders from being a pack-mule and a sore hind-end, but I'm still declaring war on these turkeys til the very end!!! Good luck & keep at it!
Kim :) |
Come on guys... we still need a few more Gobblers to even begin to compete ?!?
Good luck and good huntin' |
Well I'm not taking any chances from now on. I'm leaving my bow at the house and taking the 835. So if something shows up, watch out. lol

Well it had to happen. I hunted a different place this morning in 20 to 30 MPH winds. Guess what shows up. Jakes, 3 of them. Only thing is only 2 made it away. Finally got one. It has been one long season for me.
12 1/4 lbs 4 1/2" beard no spurs to speak of lol |

Way to Car. Remember to can't eat the spurs and that 12lb bird will be tasty. Congrat's
|
CONGRATS on the bird!!! I know its been a long and frustrating season for ya. I'm really pulling for TG as well.... I'd love to see her score on a big 'un!
|
Congrats on some good eatin'. Ya know as easy as I had it early with my bow, I took a friend of mine back to the farm last weekend, and finally on the last morning got a decent bird to work the decoys, and he made a 40 yard shot. It just works that way sometimes, I got lucky to kill two good birds in just two mornings, but some times no matter how hard ya work at it, a jake just seems to be all that ya can come up with, and sometimes, not even the jakes cooperate.
Yeah, I'm pullin' for Kim to score too. Sounds like she's be workin' at it pretty hard and steady. |
I just submitted the score for my second bird of the year. A small upgrade from my first. Story and pictures to follow.
Eastern Ontario 7:00 am 30 yds. 20 lbs. 14 oz. 9 1/2 Beard 7/8 L. spur 3/4 R. spur 56.125 Total I'm tagged out now, so it's up to guys, good luck and safe hunting. Colbea |
Question. Do I do enter my own score or does the captain do it?
|
I can do it car. Its the captains responsibility. I will get it posted for you.
|
Ok got it scored and posted
Your score is 12.25 + 0 + 0 + 9 = 21.25 |
Wow what a low score. That is why I've passed on all the jakes that I've seen however, I did want to fill a tag lol.
|
Wish me luck i have 2 weeks to go. Im buying my 2nd tag tonight.
|

Its all good car. I ate tag soup in Indiana.
|
I put 3 jakes to bed tonight. Calling for heavy rain to move into my area around 4 am and I have a Doctor's appt at 8 am. Sunday is the last day.
|
Hey guys -
Regrettably I show up with tag soup on my face tonight... :( Rather than go through the story, I'll post my husband's post from team 8... when you read this, you'll completely understand. His username is deer_tracks. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/2010...e-krew-23.html I have to say - I'm absolutely in LOVE with turkey hunting and man I got close guys. Sorry for not being able to get points on the board though... :( For those of you still at it - good luck!!! Kim :) |
Dang Kim, sorry to hear/read that. At least ya had fun.......we're only one huge bird or a jake and one good bird from first right now as a team. Maybe, just maybe a couple of guys on our team are still pluggin' at it..
