I bought the B-Mobile when it came out, after watching gobblers spook from it I sold it on here and bought Jake Mobile. We have had super sucess with it. I made my own fan, a little bulky to carry but alot of fun to hunt with.

I can hunt again in the morning, don't know if I will though, it has rained alot her in SW MO. Heading to Nebraska later in the week to try to get DTC Jr a merriams. I know, I know, that won't help our score.lol I am not even buying a tag, this trip is all about him.

I'll tell ya why. Its because everyone says that a turkey has such a small brain and is stupid. So when a guy fails to get one he tries to figure out how he got outsmarted. At least thats what I think when I come home empty handed:rolleye0011:

Thats a bummer Kds!! Sucks when they are sooo close but not quite!! It sure can be a frustrating sport, but if yer anything like me you can get your butt handed to ya by them birds for a few days in a row, get ticked and be ready to give up, but then go a day or so without hunting and yer just itchin to get back out there and do it again!! Gluttens for punishment i guess!! Hope yer not sick of hearin it but i'm gonna say it again, stick with em!!! Sooner or later it's gotta go your way!

Good luck to JR DTC!!!

Well i'm off to go do some smelt dippen, see ya guys!

kellyguinn 04-24-2011 05:59 PM

DTC. Where are ya headed in Nebraska to get the Merriams, I've been thinking of headed that way sooner or later for one myself. Also is there any good public land in Mizzou to get an eastern. The hatch here in Okie land has been terrible the last couple of years. I believe they have even stopped hunting in a couple of counties till the population gets back up. The rios are doing good in western part of the state though.

Good luck to DTC jr.

Well team, I am done in MO!! Killed this 24 1/2 lber with 11 1/2" and 4 1/2" beards, and 1 1/8" spurs. As you can see we were both wet, I don't know how much more rain we can take. We are pushing in on 10" in the last 4 days!!

Newport, NE, got a buddy that lives up there. I have been out there 2 times and we have killed 10 birds there. It is alot of fun to hunt there. Public land hunting it tough in MO, alot of pressure on them. Not to say that you couldn't find a good place to hunt them. Do you have rios where you are at. I might swap you a hunt. I've killed some rios in TX but always looking for a hunting trip.

zubba 04-25-2011 06:49 AM

Nice bird DTC! He will score well. Gotta love those multiple beard birds. Congrats!

I would love to swap but I only hunt Public so if ya ever want to come this way I can point ya in the right direction even if ya don't want to swap. I hunt at Black Kettle grasslands, its in the far western part of the state. There is plenty of birds but it seems that you either need to be there opening week or during the late season. I am a novice at turkey hunting so I have yet to get one there but I have seen plenty. It is also excellent for deer hunting.

During deer season, fall turkey is going on as well but when deer rifle hits it is bow only for the turkeys. I took the wife to a spot this year for deer and there must have been 400 or so turkeys roosting in the woods by where we were sitting.

The area there is 30k + acres all spread out. Parcels are as large a a few thousand to as small as 40 acre and as diverse as heavily wooded to open grass land that looks more like Wyoming. Let me know if ya want any more info on the area I am more than happy to tell ya what I know. If I get out that way on Friday I'll put up a few pics of the area for ya if ya want. Good luck on the merriam. Kelly

kellyguinn 04-25-2011 09:08 AM

DTC.. By the way that is a huge bird congrats... By the looks of it, it is the largest so far in the competition at 79 pts.

j76 04-25-2011 11:14 AM

Wow!!! Great bird DTC!!! Thats a definate upgrade for your score! Congrats!!! Team 10 is just a rollin!!

zubba 04-25-2011 11:20 AM

I think we are sitting atop the leader board as of now, but there are a lot of seasons going on yet. Hopefully we can get a couple extra birds to extend our lead. Good luck everyone.

Mottz 04-25-2011 11:33 AM

Great Job DTC!! You are definately impressive when it comes to turkey hunting!

Just curious, whos seasons end when? Mine ends the end of May. So I have about 5 weeks left. I have 1 permit left but I can still buy another if I want. For a total of 3 permits.

Lets keep hammerin em down boys!! I want us all to be on this team next year!! Recruiting DTC jr wouldn't be a bad idea though!

kellyguinn 04-25-2011 11:45 AM

My season is over on the 6th of May. I'm gonna try to get out there on Friday and Saturday mornings and I am still trying to wrangle a spot a little closer to home so that I can hit it after work.

We close here May 8th but I am done already. DTC Jr still has 1 tag for MO and I bought him 2 for NE.

Mottz, I want DTC Jr on my team too, I do alot of work for him to beat me.lol Next year we are planning our annual trip to TX and a trip to FL for the osceola. If all works out he will be 9 when his grand slam is complete.

zubba 04-25-2011 12:05 PM

My season here ends on May 15th I believe. I have one tag left, but if I shoot another bird, it will be with my stick & string.

Hey if we win it we would need a replacement since we are 1 member short JR would definately make a great addition to the team!

DTC's upgrade monster bumped us up another 10 pts or so. If we could get another upgrade or 2 from a couple guys and another bird or 2, Think we would be tough to beat!I'm tryin not to get too excited about the lead cause there's a lot of hunters out there hard at it still. Man i wish i was still huntin!!!If i can't get signman up here for the next weekend, think i'm gonna start wanderin the streets to find someone with a tag so i can take em out!!!

Good luck guys, keep puttin em down!!!

Mottz 04-25-2011 04:21 PM

Good luck to you DTC and jr in Newport. I just did a map search and thats about 3 hrs straight north of here(Hastings). 3 guys from work are going up to Pine Ridge this week to get a shot at some merriams. If you swing through Hastings, give me a holler.

kellyguinn 04-25-2011 06:18 PM

Just bought the Jake-mobile and she-mobile couldn't turn em down for the price ($20 ea) figure I'll keep the other hens I have and add them to the spread. How do you get the wrinkles out of the plastic material. I was guessing use a hair dryer but figure I'd ask just in case.

zubba 04-25-2011 06:40 PM

I will try giving gobbling buck a call again tomorrow.

kellyguinn 04-25-2011 06:47 PM

I almost forgot about the little excitement I had Friday while getting set up. I put all the dekes out found a real nice tree, sat down, laid my box call down and low and behold there is a nice fat black widow sittin right beside me. Needless to say I found a different tree....lol I don't so much mind spiders but when it comes to black widows I don't want anything to do with em.

j76 04-25-2011 07:38 PM

Hope they work some magic for ya Kelly! Good luck!!

j76 04-25-2011 08:02 PM

Just was checking the other teams posts, once they get all birds reported and updated team 13 is gonna have us for first by about 27 pts. We need to BRING THE HEAT BOYS!!!!!!

Mottz 04-26-2011 03:48 AM

27 pts, thats possible. We still have time. The bonus is we are leading views and posts:barmy:

j76 04-26-2011 05:18 AM

Ok, I just noticed something. Team 2 has a member who checked in and hasn't been heard from since, but recently posted a kill on the regular turkey forum, sound familiar???? Turkey Goddess, team 2's captain took his pic and stats and went ahead and posted his score in the contest anyway. I know we dont have any stats on Gobbling Bucks bird but i'm pretty sure a mature tom with no stats is worth 30 pts. If Zubba can't get a hold of GB soon, would you guys like me to look into seeing if we can't do this? I was thinking if GB didn't show up oh well we will just have to do it with 9 guys, but now it getting tight for the lead, i'm really leaning towards doing this. I say we give Zubba another day or so to see if he can't come up with some stats and if not we try for the 30 pts. What do you guys think??????????

Mottz 04-26-2011 09:30 AM

Heres the rule.

If you aren't able to score your quarry for whatever reason, identify if your bird is a Hen, Bearded Hen, Jake, or Tom, and you can use this table if you're unable to score:

1. Hens 10 points,
2. Bearded Hens 15 points,
3. Jakes 20 points,
4. Gobblers 30 points.

I would guess that we could score it???? But without a pic how do we even know GB got a bird.

zubba 04-26-2011 10:16 AM

There is a thread with Gobbling Bucks bird. I tried a couple times today with no luck. Give me until tonight.

All i would have to do is copy and paste the pic from the thread he started on the turkey forum. Hate to do it like that cause 30 pts is prob about only half of what it should score but right now 30 pts would keep us on top. If anybody has any reservations about doing itlike that i can pm turkey goddes and make sure its cool to do it but i'm sure it would be fine. Also we don't have to do it RIGHT now, we can give it a little time and see what happens.

zubba 04-26-2011 12:25 PM

I got a hold of Jay (Gobbling Buck). Real nice guy and in our 10 minute chat, I can tell he is a turkey hunting addict like the rest of us.

Innocent mistake, he didn't realized he was placed on a team, so didn't pay much attention to the boards. But he said he would try to pop on an check out the team thread. His season ends this weekend, so he is going to be giving it one last go. Anyways, here are his birds specs.

22 lbs
3/4" Left Spur
3/4" Right Spur
10" Beard

Thanks Jay & nice talking to you.

Mottz 04-26-2011 02:44 PM

Well thats good. Maybe GB can get on here and see what he's been missing with this team. Sounds like a good bird nonetheless. Keep the unity going guys!

j76 04-26-2011 03:18 PM

Nice work Zubba! Thanks for all the work you did to get a hold of him

Welcome Gobbling Buck and Congrats on the nice bird!!!!!

That should Keep us on top for a while anyways!!

j76 04-26-2011 03:23 PM

Gobbling Buck

Your score is 22 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 20 = 57

kellyguinn 04-26-2011 05:05 PM

Welcome Gobbling Buck. and that is a beautiful bird.

Mottz 04-26-2011 06:56 PM

Welcome Gobbling Buck! If you have some time, scroll back through some of these pages and you'll get to know us pretty well. Great to have ya and very nice bird!

j76 04-26-2011 09:34 PM

So who is hitten the woods this weekend? Think Jaybird has 3 or 4 days left in his 9 day quest to fill his tags, expecting a call from him any time now, I think Signman53 will be givin it one last shot this weekend. I'm gonna take a guy i work with out sunday to the spot i shot mine to try and get him one on video. Who else???

Sunday is the last day of the first season here in michigan so its the last chance for signman and kdsbermen i beleive, give em hell boys!!! Think its crap we can only hunt 1 season here in mich. if ya get one or not!

On that note, think Mottz already mentioned this, but on the first page of our thread i've been tryin to keep track of who's huntin and how many birds they have got, would also like to keep track of who is done and who is still huntin, so when yer done for sure let us know so we know who is left to root for. Thanks guys!!! Man I really want to win this thing! Not because i want to be #1 but because i would love to have this team together for another yr!! It's been awsome getting to know you guys and this is a great group to be a part of!!

hostgator116 04-27-2011 01:02 AM

It's good video. Thanks for share.

zubba 04-27-2011 05:08 AM

I'll be heading out on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday if the weather is good. My first priority is to get my buddy a bird, hopefully on video. After he fills his tag, I will have one more to fill before May 15th....but that will likely be with my bow...so no promises. Good luck everyone heading out this weekend, hopefully we can add a few more to the team score.

DTC 04-27-2011 06:15 AM

I am done unless there are just so many turkeys in NE that I have to buy a tag.lol My little buddy is at the doctor today, hope he gets better before the trip.

Good luck team and congrats to those who have killed birds!

j76 04-27-2011 06:47 AM

Get that boy healed up DTC, those Nebraska gobblers don't stand a chance, have fun you guys!

Good luck with the bow Zubba, I would love to try em like that one of these years!
