I'm hunting the NE corner. Jackson county to be exact, I'm from Dubuque. Been seeing a few birds strutting around hear the past week or two. Shouldn't be long and we'll be in full swign.

Well I took my son, DTC Jr who is on team 9, to Texas over the weekend. He killed a 20 lb rio there. Our youth season starts April 9th here in MO so I will take him out again. I get to hunt April 18th and then I am taking DTC Jr to NE to chase some merriams in late April.

Well, heading to Florida in two days. Here's a pic of the 1 3/4" spurs on a big Osceola that a guy put down my buddy guided for.
Bird scored over 78, which is sweet. I'll be hunting the same land.

Congrats to your son DTC. That is a fine bird.

Good luck IA Jaybird. I hope you put the hammer to a nice Osceola gobbler within the next week.

Thanks, he loves going to TX to chase rios and I love taking him. That is our 3rd trip there. I know I spoil him but that father/son time is great. We are going to NE next month to try for the merriams and then if nothing bends or breaks I'm gonna take him to FL next year to finish his slam. He could be done at age 9, I would be a very proud dad!!!!!!!!

That is really cool of you. I'd love to get my slam...by the time I'm 50...lol. I can't imagine by the age of 9. The best of luck to him.
