I agree with sproket I like the new option for our teams logo but would like it to say 2010 Champs, we don't need the site address on it.

Lets vote guys
Like it ?
want the 2010 Champs or equivalent on it?
Like last years with new date?

Thanks JoeA for your hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

turkey harvester 03-21-2011 07:20 AM

I'll agree does need to say 2010 champs, but i still like the way it looks.

charlie brown 03-21-2011 11:51 AM

I guess we will have to wait a few days for Joe to get back from his turkey hunt!

Hopefully he can share his successes near the end of the week, and maybe make that change.

Hope we all have a good year!!

Marcial

25 days and counting, boy they were really tearing it up this morning. Coldest morning in several days and they gobbled their heads off.

bullmoose38 03-25-2011 07:13 PM

Checked my game cam. Got some great pics of some strutters! Cant wait!

Treebeard 03-26-2011 06:46 PM

:)

RockyMtnGobblers 03-27-2011 06:34 PM

Fantastic guys looks like we are all set for Victory more importantly some really great hunts!
I have been working 7 days a wk so haven't scouted yet and may not be able to, BIG Disappointment!
I have my honey hole where I have them patterned so thats a big plus, I am going to try and hunt the first sat 4/9 for some Rios in a place I have never been but if I can roost em Friday that will be a great start, I have not hunted Rios before and would really like to get one. After the Rios I plan to hunt a new area for Mariam's so if those two plans fail then ill go to my honey hole.
You know what they say about the best laid plans.........

JoeA 03-28-2011 06:21 AM

I busted two on Sunday, after very tough week. Our birds finished breeding just as the season opened. Knowing the terrain & patterning movement helped. Plus soft calling. More details coming, but here's the data in my best bird.

Wt: 16.5#
Spurs L 1.125, R 1.125
Bd: 9.375

Good luck to everyone else! Go Krew!

turkey harvester 03-28-2011 06:58 AM

Bible_Man 03-28-2011 08:16 AM

Yeah Joe! Way to go! On the board...nice start. My season opens Saturday, and I feel good considering what I've been seeing while scouting so far. Good luck, all!

Here's the pix for the measurements. I had to use the camera app on my iPhone, because my camera died. I'll post the picture of me with the bird when it gets e-mailed to me.

turkey harvester 03-31-2011 11:31 AM

Way to go Joe That is one nice looking bird. What was the weight? Nice spurs and beard. Congrats buddy I'm green with envy.

Bible_Man 04-01-2011 08:04 AM

Well, folks, the time has arrived! I will be in the woods tomorrow morning hoping to lay the smack down on one! Going this evening to try and put some to bed. Have been putting some to roost several times over the last month, and have stayed out of the woods for the past couple of weeks. I sure hope I can get one in a tree this evening, but even if not, I feel good about tomorrow! Any day in the woods is a good day.

JoeA 04-01-2011 09:26 AM

Good luck Bible Man! Bust a big one!

sproket 04-01-2011 07:58 PM

Well Team I will be in the woods tommorow but not for myself. Youth weekend starts and my 10 year old is ready. Well she thinks she is. We will be out before light. I am going to take her to my all time hot spot. I took 4 toms there last year. We will hunting in a old log pile with saplings all in it. Total concealment overlooking a three way intersection. You get a show even if they are just passing through. I have my fingers crossed I hope she gets one. Good luck Bible man and good luck to all.

Mark

Bible_Man 04-01-2011 08:50 PM

I wish you to have better success than me, sproket! Much more important than a silly online competition. Not that I don't want to win, but you know...

bullmoose38 04-02-2011 04:41 PM

Im just about all packed and my flight leaves Tuesday morning for OK. Hopefully I can come through for you guys! Good luck everyone and be safe!

JoeA 04-02-2011 06:45 PM

It will depend on what properties we are hunting and what part of the state. I will most likely hunt where the rios are.

RockyMtnGobblers 04-03-2011 06:43 AM

Good luck Bullmoose38 have fun and Bring us a Bird!:fighting0007:

Bible_Man 04-03-2011 11:41 AM

Good luck Bull!

I went out yesterday morning, and got setup about 150 yards from a couple gobbling at me from the tree, but were already with hens when they flew down and never would come to me. Heard a little more gobbling around 9:00, but a long way away and never laid eyes on him. We have a pretty nasty weather front coming through tomorrow, so I am hoping I can get one moving around before it gets here. Have had good success in these situations before, so I am hoping for more of the same! Found a new roost site with an unreal amount of poo on the ground underneath too! And it was fresh! That is where I am heading in the morning...can't go this evening to make sure they are there in the morning, but I am betting they will at least be close.

RockyMtnGobblers 04-05-2011 01:16 PM

Good going with the new roost sounds like a great place for a gobbler to be had! Go get em!!

Bible_Man 04-06-2011 10:20 AM

Well, I haven't seen any birds the last couple times I have been out. Didn't hear the first gobble one of the times! Oh well...still plenty of season left. Last year I didn't get my first kill till April 16th...my birthday (a nice present!)...and typically things pick up a little here a couple weeks into season due to gobbling phases. Taking a friend in the morning, so I hope at least 2 gobblers show up...he will get dibs if there is only one.

How's it going for everyone else?

turkey harvester 04-06-2011 11:16 AM

Bible man I sure hope your luck changes. Mfaybe 2 big ones will present themselves for you guys. My season starts in 12 days, buddy its killing me too. But I do get to take my 2 nephews this weekend for the youth season. Hopefully they can whack one out, neither has ever killed a bird before. Going to do my best to make it happen for them. Hope you get one buddy. Jeff

Bible_Man 04-06-2011 12:02 PM

I sure hope you get them a double, Jeff! Nothing beats taking the youngsters out.

turkey harvester 04-07-2011 10:03 AM

I think I'm more excited about the youth hunt than myself hunting. Both boys are fired up about trying to kill their first turkey. Got some private land to hunt and its full of turkeys, just need 2 dumb ones to show up.

charlie brown 04-08-2011 07:35 PM

Have a good hunt everyone. Good luck to the kiddos.

sproket 04-08-2011 11:32 PM

Well Team youth weekend was a bust. The first morning they gobbled a few times in the trees just before light. But nothing after they hit the ground. I saw them fly down to the ridge they were roosted on but that was it. We never saw a bird. The second morning we were there early. We got set up 30 minutes before first light were I could see them in the trees. Things were looking up and right at light here comes some guy in a jeep it messed us up good we never saw a bird. I can see someone being a little late getting out. But he drove right by my truck 300 yards from us. Here is the funny part there was only 4 hunters on 3000 acres of land. What a deal .

Here's the bird I entered in the 2011 contest. Good Luck to the rest of the Krew!

Bible_Man 04-10-2011 12:11 PM

He's a beaut, Joe! Still nothing going on here...they have been giving me the silent treatment still...hopefully they will begin to make a little more noise in the coming days. I did have a hen all but crawl up in my lap yesterday evening...could have reached out and touched her! Too bad she didn't bring ol' Tom along with her...

RockyMtnGobblers 04-11-2011 10:26 AM

Way to go JoeA nice gobbler!

I am heading out Tue to the turkey woods for several days, going to try my hand on the Colorado plains for some Rios, brand new area so if it does not pan out I will head to the mountains for some Merriam's, also a new place and if all els fails I'll go to my go to place if I have time.
Well thats the plan anyway.........

bullmoose38 04-11-2011 11:32 AM

Had a great trip! I shot 2 gobblers, 1 coyote, and 1 pig all on video. I will post pics as soon as they are emailed to me.

Bible_Man 04-11-2011 01:15 PM

Way to go Bull! That's awesome! Good luck Rocky...hope it works out in all 3 places!
