Default Optics for my Marlin

I have recently bought a Marlin 336 stainless guide gun in 30-30 and am trying to figure out if I need a scope. I know it being a lever action and a shortened barrel that longer ranges are kinda out of the question but, thanks to glasses, I can't see very well at distance. Would a scope be worth it?

I had a fixed 4X on my .444 Marlin. Worked very well.

I think it would be good with a lie power scope. The leupold vxI 2-7-33 would be perfect cost about 179

The gun is a fast handling gun so not to take away from that I would put something like a Leupold 1-4x20 or a Burris 4x20.They're both short scopes and are light wieght.
