Well I guess I'll start this off.. I'm Justin, I'm from north central West Virginia (Preston County, if you know where that is), not known for big bucks, but there are a few nice ones out here.. This is my primary, if not only place I hunt.. This is my first year in the bow contest so I'm interested to see if this will make my hunting addiction any worse.. haha.. Anyone have any ideas for a team name or anyone been a captain before? Thanks and Welcome..

My name is Donnie, I am from central PA. I have taken some good bucks. No real monster like some guys on here but I will assure you that I will be hunting hard. I will try my best. Look forward to meeting everyone. As far as team name, I really have no idea at this point.

My name is Shawn. I live in east central Ohio. Here is the number 1 buck on my hit list. I have trail cam pics of him and video as well. I know where he beds I know where his main water source is and I know where his main food source is right now. If he stays on this pattern even the first few days of the season he will be mine.

Very nice buck Shawn.. That's a freaking monster, good luck and I hope you score him for our team and for yourself mainly.. I got a very nice one for this part of WV, that buck makes him look like a yearling though hahaha.. I'll post some pics of him soon once I get the pics transfered to the computer..

Whats up fellas. My name is Dan. I'm from southwestern Pa. Well as most people last year, we had a ton of snow. The area i hunt is a flood plains area, and it got hit pretty hard when the snow melted, but if any of the three shooter bucks made it through the harsh elements, i should be in good shape. i know there is one in the group that should be a huge ten (hopefully 12). i got my cam out in that area now so hopefully it will have some pics of him or any of them for that matter. keeping my fingers crossed. good luck to all on team 16 this season.

Hey fellas. I guess I picked a good night to come check things out. I'm also from pennsylvania, although north-central. (our deer herd is horrible) I'm quite busy at the time with coaching football and such, but once season rolls around I'll be in the woods often. Hope to help out the team once the time comes.

It's good to see alot of guys checking in already. Hopefully we can all have a really good season. Here are a few other pics of some shooters I will be after.

Hey guys, my name is Troy and I live in central Indiana. Small woodlots and ALOT of corn/bean fields here. I've seen a few 130ish deer so far, but no true monsters...yet. I have no trips planned for this fall and the first 2 weeks of Nov already down on the books for vacation so I should get some quality time in this year. We have a urban deer zone where I hunt so my season actually opens in about 3 weeks!

My vacation time is October 26th, to November 19th. I also work midnights, so I can hunt almost every evening and I get off early almost any time I want. So, I have alot of hunting time.

Good to see that we got 6 of the 10 checked in.. I normally just take random vacation days off throughout bow season and hunt every weekend, so it's not nearly as much as I'd like but it'll have to do.. Plus I take off the whole week of Thanksgiving off, but that's also the opening of Rifle season in WV, normally I only rifle hunt a few days before I switch back to bow though.. I got my pics loaded, but I'll wait till we get everyone checked in before I post.. Any thoughts on team names and anybody done the captain gig and wanna do it again?

W9ARcher checking in from Wisconsin. Gerry here and glad to be on this great team. I hunt in NW Wisconsin and have two weeks of vacation saved up for the fall hunting season. I've got a dozen trail cameras out and have a very nice 14 pointer I'm going to target this fall. Picts will come soon as I get my Windows 7 upgraded computer fully functional again.

Just realized I was on team 16 last year in the Gun contest. Hope my luck continues as we placed 4th last year. Should have been 3rd but I forgot to register my doe on top of the 9-pointer I contributed.

Looks like we have a very active bunch of folks on this team so this is going to be a great place to hang out.

I've done captain before but I simply wont have the time to do it this year. It really isnt a big load of responsibility. Anyone that visits the forum regulary can do it. I vote JNM since I see you are active on the boards.. :D

Looks like most of us are from the midwest so far. Maybe we can have a name that has something to do with the midwest. Here are a couple names I thought of. The Midwest Monarchs, The Stick String Assassins. Just throwing a couple names out there. JNM would be fine with me.

Glad to meet you all. As far as a name it does not matter to me. Who ever would like to be captain that is fine by me also. I have a very busy schedule for the next month. My girls are showing in three big horse shows and I will be busy with them but I have been shooting at least twice a week. Some of you guys are seeing some true monsters. I have been seeing some nice bucks but nothing huge.

Anybody else have any names to throw out there?

I'll gladly be the captain, just wasn't sure if it was ok to do so being my first year, but you guys say it's pretty easy so I think I can handle it.. hahaha.. You did bring up a good point Shawn, location. We have 3 from PA, 1 in OH, 1 in Indy, 1 in Wisc., and myself in WV.. Not a bad group of states for some nice Whitetails.. I think I'm the one sitting in the state with the smallest average rack actually..

As far as team names I thought of two that I have heard anyone use before (I think): Rack Addicts (My personal favorite) and Slip String Snipers..

But so far we have:
1. Stick-N-String Assassins (Changing it a lil bit hope that's ok, if not let me know)
2. Midwest Monarchs
3. Rack Addicts
4. Slip String Snipers

I figure I'll leave the ideas open through the weekend then we can vote on it or you can start now if you want, I don't really care.. Plus I'll PM the ones who haven't checked in yet this weekend, so we can get an inside track on some alternates if need be..

Since I was here I figure I would go ahead and post a few pictures..

The Big Boy.. We call him LBM (Little Brow Mongo), he had a brother named Big Brow (a visibly larger deer in body and antler size) who was harvested last year. Couldn't imagine what he'd have been this year..

Nice pics. I have yet to get on one more property I have permission to hunt on. It is a rural/ suburbish type area. Lots of deer with little if any hunting at all because of the close proximity to homes. It is a very ritzy area but my wife's aunt and uncle live in this place and they are tired of all the deer destroying their stuff. They finally gave me permission after several years of bugging them. Should be an interesting place. I know i can take at least a few doe's out of there and they told me they have seen a couple giant bucks.

Last year I killed a 168 and in 05' I killed a 192,....we have some decent bucks in the area.

Welcome zmax.. I followed the contest last year, even though I didn't compete, and I remembered your story about how the coyotes got to your buck.. That thing was massive..8 of 10 so far, not sure how quickly this normally happens, but it seems like we're getting a full team quicker than the rest of them.. Great job so far..

I had a few minutes today at work so I started making some avatars for the team names. So far I have the ones for Rack Addicts and Stick-N-String Assassins started, hopefully I'll finish and post them tonight.. This isn't a finally judgement, just me wasting time on a slow Friday at work :D..

Thanks for volunteering JNM, nice looking deer btw. I hunted in WV about 12 yrs ago, somewhere South of Morgantown. We pitched a big canvas wall tent in a guys back yard, there were probably 6 or 7 of us, and just had a blast. We only killed 2 deer, but we had a great time and the area was beautiful.

I like Rack Addicts or Midwest Monarchs.

I fancy the name Midwest Monarchs as well. Looks like JNM is going to make a fine captain.

That's the only thing holding me back from the Midwest Monarchs is that we got 6 of us from the Northeast, wouldn't want to offer up some false advertisement :P.. But whatever wins the vote I am fine with.. I got the two avatars I was talking about earlier done..

Yea Troy, I love hunting here in the Appalachians, it is amazing.. Not so much fun having to drag a deer up or down some of this mountains though.. I actually live 35 miles northeast of Morgantown..

I'm planning to go out one day this weekend to scout some and switch my cards and batteries in my trail cameras so hopefully I'll have so new pictures for you guys..

So when does everyones season being? Mine runs from Oct. 16 - Dec. 31

Mine starts Sept 25th and ends the first sunday in February. Welcome Jeramy and everyone that I did not welcome earlier. I am pretty much strictly a bow hunter. I've never killed any giants yet but have had several close encounters with some very large bucks. You all know how it is with archery equipment, one more step, there is a branch in the way, and several other things that can go wrong. I just have had alot of bad luck since I started bow hunting in 1996. I have killled my fair share of deer though. I probably have killed over 70 deer. The vast majority of those have been since I started bow hunting. I have a son who is 22 that I usually hunt alot with. He chose not to be in the contest this year but I will be hunting with him most of the times I am out he is there with me. This year we have seen a good number of nice bucks. We are doing everything we can to keep them in the area they are in right now. So hopefully I will have a huge buck for the team.

I went ahead and PMed HuntingBry.. Hopefully we'll be able to field a full team soon.. Sounds like it's about time for you to get one of those monsters on the ground Shawn.. I believe this team has a real good chance at being Champs this year.. We are all active on here and from the ones of us that have been able to scout and check our trail cameras so far, we have some nice deer on our hit lists..

Hey guys, just got back in.. I was out picking last round or two of blackberries to make some jam, so that I can have my PB&J in the stand :D.. Plus once we got back, we had a few beers, you know how that goes.. Thanks for the complements on the avatars, as far as voting we can open it up officially.. We got 9 of 10 and he's been PMed so that's fair game.. I'm gonna say lets limit it to the two that I got made already haha.. Laziness on my part.. But I'll add the total votes to the front page..

P.S. - I also got my cards pulled out of my cameras today and I got some more pics of LBM and his merry band of followers.. I'll post them tomorrow once I get more time to look them over..
