One more vote and Rack Addicts will have it

JeramyK 08-22-2010 04:47 PM

Rack Addicts sounds good to me! Add my vote.

Our official season doesn't start till Oct. 2nd. But I live in an area that has an early doe season that starts Sept 18th. Looking forward to getting some meat in the freezer.

ManofTheFall 08-22-2010 05:10 PM

Looks like Rack Addicts have it.

JNM86WVU 08-22-2010 06:59 PM

Well it looks like we're the Rack Addicts.. I'm having trouble with the Photobucket website tonight so I will post the link for the avatar tomorrow, once I resize it.. Also since I run my trail cam pictures through there, I'll post them tomorrow as well.. I got a few new bucks on cam, or at least ones I hadn't been able to make out clearly before.. Either way I'm sure I have four 8-pointers or larger frequenting mine and my buddies stand, so the odds hopefully are in my favor to harvest one of these for our team.. But we all know what happens once that rut kicks in..

As far as making the team name and myself as captain official, what do I need to do? Or will HNI_Christine post a new thread with us to post this in? Along those same lines I'm thinking about opening a new thread with our team name in it, would that be ok with everyone?

ManofTheFall 08-22-2010 07:51 PM

Sounds good to me.

fingerz42 08-22-2010 09:00 PM

For what it's worth I chose Rack Addicts as well.

JNM, they will rename our thread and you won't have to do a thing. They will create a thread for all captains to name themselves, and in that you can tell the team name. They will rename our thread with the appropriate name afterwards.

**Actually, since you opened the thread, you should be able to rename it yourself. Try it.

Here are a few of my favorite trail cam photos which shows some of my areas potential,...but of course, this is Kansas, anything is possible,..:)

Oh, Rack Addicts sounds great to me,...Here are some Rack-a-licious photos

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 04:00 AM

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 04:13 AM

This is Wowzer,...That was all i could think to say when i first saw him,..haha

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 04:24 AM

This is Shredder and Pickles in the background,..both have grown alot since July 1.

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 04:33 AM

This is "Kicker"

ManofTheFall 08-23-2010 07:03 AM

You've definitely got some really good ones there. Hopefully you will be able to nail one of them.

razor6570 08-23-2010 01:42 PM

Wow, zmaw

They are some real good bucks. Consider yourself lucky to be in an area that produces those types of bucks, I am jealous! Good luck!

Those pictures pump me up for the season to get here!

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 02:11 PM

I run a small, new guide service,...these are all "clients/customers" bucks. I have several dozen places which i will be hunting. Hopefully, something bigger will come my way, haha. I havent had a chance to run any cameras where i will be hunting. but, like i said, this shows what my area has for potential.

This is a replica of a set of sheds found locally several years ago, the right side went about 146 and the left was about 87 as memory serves.

Here is some more bucks from this year.

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 02:19 PM

This is my 05' "Buck-of-a-Lifetime" He scored 192 6/8". He was my first archery buck, that was the year i started bowhunting. Bowhunting consumes me 24/7/365

Those are awesome bucks! Good Luck Man!

JNM86WVU 08-23-2010 03:40 PM

Wow.. Customer bucks or not those are amazing deer.. I'm happy with my so called monster, but your deer makes him look like a scrub.. And those sheds, don't even get me started on.. If you need any test runs with your guide service, I'll gladly be your dummy.. Haha just messing with you..

zmax, That sure is one nice beast of a buck you have there. If I can nail the one I call twin towers this fall, I'm thinking he will net in the 180's. Up to now he would definitely be my buck of a lifetime.

That is one awesome buck! Your my kinda person, I talk about hunting all year long. Not much else worth talkin about in my opinion.

ManofTheFall 08-23-2010 04:39 PM

Yeah, sometimes I get in trouble from my wife. She says all I think about is deer 24/7. But, I must be doing something right. This September will be our 25th anniversary.

How much do your deer typically weigh?

JNM86WVU 08-23-2010 05:15 PM

The one I got last year, which has similar body mass to this one, field dressed around 175 lbs.. Estimated, so I could be off some, but I'm a fairly big guy ( 6'2'' 275lbs.) and it took me a good bit to hoist him in the back of the Jeep..

Def a good idea robbin' the cradle.. haha.. Also, this game is awesome, I'm sucking it up as well, but it's very informative..

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 05:27 PM

i think he'll easily push mid 130's,...he's a very nice buck. we dont often weigh our bucks but last year we weighed my wifes buck,..he was 265 on the hoof. and was an old mature buck,..

Glad your enjoying the game,..

JNM86WVU 08-23-2010 05:35 PM

Yea we were guessing over 200 Lbs. on the hoof, but I'm always one to estimate low to be on the safe side of things.. I hunt within 1/4 mile of corn, alfalfa, and soy bean fields so they have the nutrition.. Not to mention the clover plots I got on my property, so we try and grow them big up here.. But with the mentality of "if it's brown, it's down" around here we can't be as selective as we'd like.. I'd love to let him have one more year.. He's 4 1/2 at oldest from the trail cam pics we have, but if I let that walk around here, someone else would take him in a heartbeat in rifle season..

zmax hunter 08-23-2010 05:45 PM

To each their own,..we are all hunting for something,....however,..i do understand what you mean,...its not easy for a weekend hunter to pass mediocre bucks and honestly, it shouldnt be about the rack. I am of the opinion that if its what makes you happy,..go for it. In Ks,..you are only allowed 1 buck,...and i cant kill a deer for anyone else.
If i can only have one buck,...its either going to be a good one or a Doe for me,...but,,.. like i said,...to each their own.

JNM86WVU 08-23-2010 05:54 PM

I agree to each his own, mainly just venting my frustration, because here, in WV, we are allowed to take up to 3 antlered deer.. 3 total in Archery, 2 in ML, and 2 in Rifle Buck, and 1 in Antlerless Rifle.. Obviously you can't take that many total deer, because the total of bucks knocks out some of those maxes.. But yea, I understand if you get 5 total days to hunt, selection is the last thing on your mind and filling the freezer takes president.. I have no problem with taking enough to keep you through the year, but don't whack a spike with 3 does, sizable larger, standing next to him.. Just IMO.. But really that decision is up to every individual hunter.. Thanks for listening to me vent though.. :D

fingerz42 08-23-2010 06:55 PM

JNM that 10 point I would put right around 140.. He's definitely all of 120 and more though..

With seasons like that,.I understand your frustrations. I never have understood why states dont wake up and realize the potential income from a buck management perspective. If the states would take care of the Doe population, the bucks would have a chance to grow.

In Kansas, the State wants to charge a non-resident $77.50 for an antlerless tag,...residents pay $17.50 ,....Yet they want herd reduction in certain areas. I say ,...if a nonresident has paid his $322.50 for a antlered/antlerless tag,..his $72.50 for a license,...just give the hunter an antlerless tag and he will most likely take that Doe.
It wont be long now,...corn is starting to get cut,....silage too. Once they start moving, roadkills will be on the rise.

ManofTheFall 08-24-2010 04:04 PM

Sorry guys my computer has been down. That is a very nice buck JNM. I want to thank all you guys for your compliments also. As long as I keep my wife happy she usually doesn't give me too much grief. She loves the meat, and I take out my fair share of does for that. I will be checking my trail cam probably around the 1st, so I should have some nice pics to put up hopefully.

JNM86WVU 08-24-2010 05:37 PM

That sucks Shawn.. My lap top is on the fritz as well, but lucky I have a netbook as well so I'm doing fine till I decide to fix mine or just say screw it and not waste my time.. Then I'll just go buy a new one :D..

Thanks for your opinions on the score of him, I'd be stoked beyond belief if he reached over 130.. I don't what would happen if he reached the 140s.. hahaha..

I'm thinking I'm gonna put in for an alternative tomorrow, it's been over a week for the original draw date and I sent him a PM on Saturday.. If anyone objects just let me know.. I got a good feeling about this group and the potential we got.. Just sayin', not trying to jinx ourselves, just the bucks we've got posted are some very nice ones..

ManofTheFall 08-24-2010 05:54 PM

It seemed like he was an active member on here. I wonder what happened?

ManofTheFall 08-24-2010 05:55 PM

By the way, I definitely think he will be at least 130" and maybe more.

JNM86WVU 08-24-2010 06:17 PM

Yea, he seemed active.. I've even saw him on thread I was on before the lists got released, but he has been on since 8/16.. Who knows, life happens and I feel bad not being able to give him more time, but I've been seeing where other teams have been requesting people already.. So I don't wanna be left high and dry..

BTW guys, it might just me and being easily amused, but I'm loving clicking on a topic on the main Bow Hunting Board and seeing some topics flooded with the Rack Addict avatars..

W9ARcher 08-24-2010 07:13 PM

We should probably give our missing team member another week as it's summer and he/she may be off on vacation away from computers. Hard to fathom but I took a week off while in the Sylvania Wilderness area in the UP in late July and didn't have internet connectivity all week.
I agree we have a very active team here and this season will be fun sharing our experiences. I'll be back to my property over Labor day so I'm hoping to have a few trail cam pictures to share. For now, here's my favorite so far this season.
