Well it looks like I was placed on team 16 I got a message from Christine today telling me to check in.

Just a little about myself, 36 years old been bow hunting for 22 years, I have been only bowhunting for about the last 15 years. I live and hunt in eastern NY, this year I am taking a 2 week trip to KS and OH,

zmax hunter we are on the same team on AT as well there I am NYarcher.

ManofTheFall 09-09-2010 05:03 AM

Welcome pj. I live in Ohio and we have lots of big boys here. Hope you nail one.

JNM86WVU 09-09-2010 06:16 AM

Welcome pj.. Good luck on the season..

My season season doesn't start till Oct. 16, so I got some time left.. But this is the first week excluding Monday it has been in the low 70's during the day and mid to low 50's at night.. So it's starting to feel like fall here.. Thank god!! Got news the other day, that my buddy the only other one that really hunts my property with any regularity during bow season, might only have the first week and a half of season before he leaves for work.. I sucks I loose a hunting buddy, but that also gives me that much better of a chance at the Big Boy.. But I still have a few other guys that hunt with me on and off when we got an empty stand..

I'm suppose to make sure everyone knows the rules, as most of you know this is my first year, so you guys prob know the rules better than I do. BUT MAKE SURE your bow, deer, and yourself (all 3) are in the same picture, and make sure to report in that you have killed a deer even if you can't post the pic right then, so that I can let the others know.. Mainly, be safe and have fun..

Welcome PJ

I do some hunting in NY. I hunt in Putnum county on a private farm. I have had great success in NY. Good luck in KS and OH.

W9ARcher 09-09-2010 08:50 PM

Welcome PJ. Glad to have you aboard as I have this feeling Team 16 is going to lead the pack and we can now dominate with a full team.

My season opens in about a week and my stands are all set and cameras checked. Seems I have 3 shooters in the area I hunt but I'll be holding out for the 13 pointer I posted pictures of earlier. He's still roaming my area minus his velvet.

pjarrows 09-10-2010 04:06 AM

Season here starts on October 16th,

JNM86WVU 09-10-2010 05:23 AM

I was thinking the same thing W9.. I think we got a great chance at the title this year.. But I didn't want to jinx it.. Planning on getting out this weekend again and flipping the cards, so hopefully I'll have a few more out of velvet, and my buddy will have a few more bears on his, since we have an early archery bear season coming in at the end of this month..

ManofTheFall 09-10-2010 12:05 PM

I will be checking one camera this comung Tuesday and won't check the other until next Monday. Hopefully I see some big boys on there. This past 4 weeks I have really been limiting my presence there. Basically just one day to do the work on the stands.

HuntingBry 09-11-2010 07:41 PM

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around. Things have been a bit crazy for me. Hopefully I'm still on this team.

If so, I'm checking in. I'll be hunting starting next Wednesday in MD, and I'll also be hunting PA and MN.

I'll check in more often when I can. Good luck to everyone this season.

HuntingBry 09-11-2010 07:53 PM

Here are a few of the better bucks we are after in MD:

JNM86WVU 09-12-2010 01:59 PM

Welcome HuntingBry, I'm not sure what is going to happen. I didn't put in for an alternate yet, just listed you still MIA a week or so ago, but we were placed with an alternate. So I PM'd Christine to see what she could so as far as either letting you stay and allowing pjarrows to get a new team or whatever she decides. I'm not sure what is going to happen, but I will keep everyone updated.

Thanks, Justin

P.S. - Bry, that thing is a monster.. Hard to believe he is only one state over, where are you hunting in MD?

ManofTheFall 09-12-2010 03:35 PM

Very nice!!!!! I hope you stick him.

pjarrows 09-13-2010 04:19 AM

Thanks pjarrows. I appreciate that. Hopefully they can work something out so you can still participate. The contest is a lot of fun, and that's really what it's all about so I hope you're still in it.:party0005:

W9ARcher 09-13-2010 09:06 PM

WELCOME HuntingBry to Team 16. Sorry you missed all the fun picking a team name and Avatar but I know schedules and hopefully being out hunting take priority. Now let's get the show on the road. Hunting season starts this Saturday for me :)

razor6570 09-14-2010 03:04 PM

Welcome aboard HuntingBry!

Good luck on Saturday W9ARcher.

ManofTheFall 09-14-2010 04:26 PM

:cry:Sorry guys, I messed up. I went and got the memory card out of my trail cam, brought it home and it only had 9 new pics on it. They weren't even deer. They were people on 4 wheelers. I had grabbed the full card instead of the empty one so there is no pics.

HuntingBry 09-17-2010 10:15 AM

Hey fellas, just got back from hunting MD for 2 days. Saw a lot of deer, just not the ones I was looking for. The spot I was hunting still had a standing corn field beside it and the deer were in and out of that field a lot. They were starting to cut corn in the area as we were leaving so it should be better next time out.

Good luck all.

ManofTheFall 09-18-2010 01:48 AM

Checking a camera today, then checking another one on Monday. I will be ready for the opener next Saturday!!!!!

zmax hunter 09-20-2010 04:45 AM

Wife is out hunting this opening morning,...I will be going this evening. Good Luck everyone, be safe!

ManofTheFall 09-20-2010 09:12 AM

Just checked one camera. One nice buck and a few smaller ones are on it. There are a ton of does on this camera. I will post up a few pics. None of the bucks had any velvet. Heading out to check the other camera now.

JNM86WVU 09-20-2010 04:18 PM

Hey guys, long time no talk.. I've still been busy with work, and just trying to keep myself from going to sit in my stand, considering I'm just under a month away from opening day (Oct. 16).. but now that I finally got a new computer I should be able to post some pictures soon..

Shawn, Heart Attack is exactly that.. Hope you get him..

razor6570 09-21-2010 03:26 PM

Awesome pics, Manofthefall!
I haven't been on for a few days. I had a big problem on Sunday. My Hoyt razortec came unglued! My local dealer had to send it back to Hoyt. It has all sorts of issues. They believe that the riser actually twisted and caused the limbs and can to twist also! Not good, several weeks without a bow! Well I broke down and bought a new one. I bought a Bowtech Destroyer 340. So far it is totally awesome! I am busy shooting the bow every day so far! I got to get comfortable with this thing before I go out hunting!
It has been a stressful couple of days! I love the bow but I am still a little sick on how much I paid for this thing!! After I started to shoot it a little more, the sickness is starting to dwindle down. I love it. Now we will see what Hoyt does with my old bow? They said it could be one to two months before I see that bow back.

ManofTheFall 09-21-2010 04:52 PM

I got some really bad news today. Both my son and I were going over our bows reall close and we both noticed several small cracks in our limbs. My son's bow had a fairly large crack in it. So, there goes opening day this weekend. Our dealer is a warranty station though and he said he can probably have them back sometime next week. So I guess that's not too bad. I just really wanted to be out there opening day. I haven't missed one since 98'. I will keep everyone posted on the progress.

ManofTheFall 09-22-2010 04:14 AM

I'm going to ask my uncle if I can borrow his bow, he hasn't used it in years.

ManofTheFall 09-22-2010 01:57 PM

Well guys, I'm back in the game . I got my uncle's bow. It need some TLC, but I cleaned it up bought a few new arrows for it and sighted it in. I will only be using a 25 yard pin. I have it dead on at 25 yards. I moved in to 19 yards and it shot a little high. I adjusted acordingly and shot again and it was dead on again. The bow is a PSE from the 1970's. It shoots like 250-260 fps. I'm used to 320fps. As long as I do what I need to do do I should be ok until I get my bow back. So opening day is still a go!!!!!

ManofTheFall 09-24-2010 06:20 PM

Hey guys, I'll be in the stand in about 7 and 1/2 hours. Good night all.

I seen 4, all doe's. The hunt I'm really looking forward to is tonight. It will be about 35 degrees colder than it was last night, the wind will be right, and hopefully Twin Towers will be walking past my stand. Then there is also Heart Attack, The Split Brow10, and Kickers. any of these bucks walk past me tonight they will be going down.

Good Luck, bring in a big one, namely "Heart Attack", to start our team off on the right foot..

ManofTheFall 09-25-2010 04:51 PM

Well, I seen 4 more doe's tonight, no bucks. I passed on two of the doe's nad one I was going to shoot but she stopped short of my shooting lane then she turned and walked out of range. If I get an opportunity at a doe tomorrow I will put a doe down tomorrow.

ManofTheFall 09-26-2010 08:36 PM

I seen alot of does Sunday morning and only a couple Sunday evening. I haven't seen anything yet with bone on it's head. I'm not worried though. They will come. I'm hoping to fill a couple of doe tags real soon here. My son and myself should be getting our bows back this week. Yeah!!!!! It's suppose to be raining quite a bit these next couple of days with a letup Tuesday afternoon then a big cool down overnight. I will be out there Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

BGHUNTER00 09-27-2010 03:20 AM

Nice to see we have guys in the field already, our opener is next week. I got 4 stands put up over the weekend. I've got one small woods that is just littered with acorns...but surrounded with corn. Crops around here are all coming out early though so I should be OK. I've been out of deer meat for about 3 months now...does beware!

W9ARcher 09-28-2010 11:21 PM

Went up to the hunting grounds last weekend and got rained out on Friday. Too wet and windy to put in any time in the stand. Picked mushrooms and while cleaning them in the farm house, saw an 8 pointer leading 9 does/fawns past the barn into the tall grass. Was very dark to get a good look at the rack.

Next night I setup in this grassy area and after 1 hour, had a doe and fawn join me in near the pine tree I was pearched in. After 30 minutes at 10 yards, the doe and fawn headed back to the field and I took the shot. One doe down and in the cooler.

Now time to concentrate on bringing one home for the wall. I'm targetting two different bucks. One is a nice 12 pointer with alot of mass and split brow tines. The other is a decent 8 pointer with good length and width. Now if I can only get some cold weather to drive the mosquitos into the ground.

Good luck to everyone this weekend.
