I'm headed to Ohio this afternoon. Should be a beautiful weekend for deer hunting.
Calling for low's in the low 30's. Hopefully this will have them up and moving. Good luck to all this weekend. |
28 degrees when I headed to the gym at 5:10. HEAVY frost, and now i'm sitting at work tweakin' out. Going to be a LLLLLOOOOONNNGGGG day! Little bucks all over the place is the story of my hunting season. I passed on this guy sunday morning on my new spot. He has a decent rack but I would be the rest of my hunting season that he is only 2.5 years old. If he is, and I REALLY think he is. He could be a monster in a couple years.
|
I've been seeing nothing & reports from everyone in our area is about the same. Oct. 31st saw my 1st deer from stand-a pig bodied 8 but doubt he would score 110-I would have been tempted if he had gotten close enough because I was frustrated. Video I took & viewed at home made me glad he didn't get closer. I'm passed that today. Another Nov. 1st-smaller 8, filmed him too. I don't get to hunt mornings but can go EVERY afternoon. I'm not going today as Daughter has new Sight & i'm going to help her set up stuff so she can start going tomorrow.
Good Luck. It's just getting prime time.. |

Well guys, I scored in Ohio Sunday night ( Oct. 31st). I got a glimpse of him chasing a doe Saturday morning. Sunday evening he was chasing another doe hard. She came within 40 yards but he came within 16 yards. He's a 3 1/2 year old and I just couldn't pass him because of his long G2's. My dad and I rough scored it at 119. I'm going back this weekend to pick him up along with all my meat. I will officially score him and enter it by next Monday. At least this will get us on board. Guys they are really starting to move out there. They haven't started yet here in PA but i suspect they will real soon.
|
Hey guys, its been a while since i have been on so I thought I would check in. Congrats Dmax. Great buck. Keep us posted on the final score.

It is guna be cold so I am hopefull they are mooving. I'll let ya know what the verdict is next week. |

It looks like if I could enter my buck today we would be in 5th place. Here's another pic.
|
Dmax-congratulations-nice Buck You got us on the board so now the rest of us have to bring it on. Nothing tonight but it was 30 mph winds. Won't be missing many days from now on-I've got till Dec. 1st b/4 gun season to get my job done. Again, nice Buck...
|
I'm headed back to Ohio tomorrow after work. I'll be bring my buck home Sunday night along with a cooler full of meat.
Good Luck Guys. The time is at hand. |
Great job and congratz on an awesome buck!
Sorry guys I haven't been on lately. Been a little busy with football and school and hunting. Update on our football team... We have made it to the third round of the playoffs and we are playing solon again. They beat us the first time but we played like crap. We are bringing the heat this time. If we win this game we will go to the semi finals in the dome and more than likely be playing Pella who we have lost to in the first round of playoffs the past two years so if we can pull through the next two games we will get two HUGE revenges! Update on hunting... Well not a whole lot. Saw a small seven pointer sunday morning while sitting in the stand with my friend. Then sunday night I had a big 10 pointer right under my treestand but sadly I wasn't in the stand at the time... He saw me before I could get close enough. I got some nice ones on camera though and im seeing alot more signs of the rut! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I dont know if you guys have seen these next ones yet or not but they are from the past few weeks. ![]() I got more pics of this guy and he broke that front fork off that is coming straight out of his head. ![]() |
something better go down for me this weekend. Big front movin in tomorrow, rain snow mix, sittin all day saturday and sunday....hopefully I wont need to on Sunday tho ;). Good luck guys!!!
|
It has been fairly warm(considering the time of year) around here. I haven't been out for a couple weeks. Next wednesday I am leaving after class at 11 and heading out. I should be able to hunt wednesday afternoon/night, all day thursday, and friday morning. I have to come back home friday afternoon for a funeral saturday and then saturday afternoon my dad and I are heading back out to do some rifle hunting. I think we are planning on staying out there until monday or tuesday. Hopefully I can get a couple with my bow and rifle.

Dmax congrats an a great buck. Way to be the ice breaker for the team.
went out this morning everything was perfect little wind 27degrees but seen no deer at all. Had a coyote come into my stand missed him just over his back I didn't have enough time to pull out the range finder and I judged him at 40yds well after I missed it was only 35. then shortly after that had 5 guys walk through the timber to the north of my stand not sure if they were looking for a deer they had shot or were pushing but all they pushed to me was that coyote. A guy that comes and hunts with us from Utah shot a 120class buck this morning so that gets me pumped up for next week(took the whole week off). Dmax congrats again awesome job, and good luck to the rest of you. |
Great weekend! Me and my friend both score on some does. He got his friday morning while I was at school and I got mine saturday night.
I also saw two huges bucks this weekend. One which was that big 16 pointer I saw earlier this year. He just seems to be getting bigger and bigger everytime I see him! Another guy we had come in about 100 yards real early with some does and he didn't think was something right when we grunted at him so he took off away from his does and he ran off like he was scared of something... like a more dominant buck.. or maybe my grunt? |
Hi Guys,
Well I brought my buck back home last night. I just finished scoring him and entered him for the team. He came in right at 120". Now we just need a few more. Good luck guys! |
well the weather is not wanting to cooperate very much for the rest of the week. I took all week off just to hunt and wouldn't you know it high wind advisory all week long!!!! winds are supposed to get up to 20mph good thing I have a really big sturdy tree to sit in.
|
![]() We are one the board x2. Ill post a score and story later. |
phil that is a great buck way to get us some more points on the board
|
Hey guys, great job on the two bucks! My week of hunting is sadly over, with nothing but a sore ass to show for it. Had a fantastic time hunting with my brother for a week, saw 7 different shooters, one of them being in the 180 range, and another one that would likely net B&C as well, 10 points, perfectly symmetrical. The very first IL deer my brother laid eyes on was a real nice 10, maybe 145" or so, and honestly, after that point, the hunt was a success. We both came close several times, but none of them read the script. I had the 170" 10 pt at 35 yards on Saturday morning, but the only shot he offered was facing straight on, which at 35 I'm not taking. Had he been at 20 yards, he's dead. Overall, the hunt was an immense success with my brother having seen so many big deer, the weather held out, no accidents, and no equipment trouble. I'm leaving Friday for an upland hunt in Montana, which I am now very excited about. I'm hoping to get back out many more times after gun season here, so hopefully I can still put one on the board for us, although with the way the neighboring properties get abused during gun season, the going is pretty tough.
|
Congratulations on a very nice Buck Phil. We're moving up the board. Let's keep the momentum rolling guys.

|
The picture is a little small but he still looks big! Great job guys. We should be up there on the board! Way to go guys. Now the rest of us need to do our jobs and lay one down.
|
Congratulations Shoot2Thrill. It's hard to see on the picture but it does look like a nice buck. Way to go.
We're on a roll guys, let's keep it rolling. |
shoot congrats. Looks like we have some nice bucks up on the board so far.
this week didn't pan out for me like I hoped it would but I wasn't at work and I was hunting so I can't complain. Missed the opportunity to shot a 170-180" buck on thursday morning. Had a doe come in on one side of the tree and he came in on the other of this massive oak tree that my stand is in while I was turned to shoot him I couldn't see what the doe was doing and I am not sure if she seen me or she just took off(pretty sure she seen me) but at about 3/4 draw he took off and followed her out of the stand site. He never even knew I was there. did shoot a doe lastnight right before sunset she didn't even move dropped her right where she was standing(sorry no pics had he hung and cleaned already this morning). Now bow season is on hold for 9 days so that the little girls with rifles can go out and spook everything across the state. the 20th I leave for SD to do some bird hunting doesn't look like I will be back into a stand until after thanksgiving |
Hey guys, well I scored my buck at 126 3/8. This is my first buck ever so needless to say, I have never scored a buck before. I found some websites to help out so I think I was pretty accurate. I sure hope that I missed a couple inches though cause with deductions he is just outside of book. We'll see when I can get him in for an official score. Here's the story.
I set up a stand on the edge of a bean Field that is surrounded on three sides by woods. Well I am set up with a trail on my left and a trail on my right and a small tree directly ahead of me. So I am in my stand and across the been field I see this buck walking the edge. He filters down towards me just as I hoped and then he gets to the small tree and I am expecting him to make a decision, left or right. Nope he walks straight through the small tree and right under my stand. I am freaking out cause I think I am not going to have a shot because it's TOOO CLOSE of all things. So I draw back while he is under me just hoping for an angle and sure enough he turns and walks to my left and gives me a 5 yard quartering away shot. I was nervous because of the distance but put my 10 pin behind his shoulder and let one fly. Perfect shot. He took off and toppled at 35 yards. This is my first buck ever so I am super pumped. ![]() |

Ok here is some bigger pics and a story.
I was on the edge of a cut cornfield and had seen a couple small bucks. At 8:40 I looked out and saw him walkin across about 60 yards out. I got my bino's on him and saw that he was a good looking, mature deer. I grunted twice, and got no response. He was to close to rattle without potentially bustin myself out. I did a snort wheeze with my mouth...and it completely turned him inside out. He laid his ears back, bristled his hair and started walking stiff legged. I thought it was over and he was gonna circle downwind. Instead he came down the edge of the field. Bleated very softly with my mouth to stop him. He stopped at 22 yards perfectly broadside, and I torched him. In the picture it looks high, but thats the enty hole out of a 26' high stand. He ran 30 yards and decided that was enough, never even left the field. T3 broadhead did an awesome job. I had to get him to the processor and in a freezer quick because it got up to 78 degrees by noon. I reported him on the scorecard and said I should be able to get tape on him this week. Gun seasons are comin in now...leave those at home and take the bows!!! We gotta win this thing fellas!!. Good luck everybody! |
Congrats Phil Pick!! Great deer!
|
Great Bucks and Great stories. For all others on the Team, Let's keep this momentum rolling.

Checkin in fellas-I have not gotten anything yet but have passed a couple 6s real close-like 20 feet. Missed a shooter for me through heavy brush (35 yds) but didn't make the hole. Buried in the tree his head was behind. I have until the 1st b/4 gunners. Was out of town 3 days so hitting it hard again starting today.
Congrats to you guys on your Bucks-Nice deer for sure. I am seeing like NO DOES during shooting hours & have decided not to take any from the place i'm doing all my Buck hunting. I passed on them last year also but could have killed at least 4. I have a inner city permit for another county that I can take Does in. I hunt that when gun season is on usually & late season. Anyway-good Bucks fellas-i'll try & put one down b/4 Dec. 1st but actually have until Mid Jan.. Some of the best hunting is late but really don't like the cold. Where are we in the standings? Anyone know? Goood luck to those with a tag yet... |
had a "kinda" good night. Missed a shooter at 30 yds @ 3pm...clipped a branch. Oh, soooo close... Saw my 1st does today also-4, 2 & 4 (10 total) with NO BUCKS around. I saw another bigger Buck at 80 yds. alone. I have yet to see a Buck chasing or with a Doe & tonight has made 10 different Bucks (3 I consider shooters). Anyway-back again tomorrow. Next time I'll nail him to the ground....
|
Well guys.... I really wanted to hit myself in the face the other day... I missed the huge 10 I got pics of in July...
![]() Actually I take that back...... He dodged my arrow!! I was walking around on the ground and I was in some tall grass out in the middle of no where and I look ahead and this huge buck had his head down trailing a doe and he was walking straight too me so I get low and pull back and next thing I know he is 25-30 yards alert broadside staring at me. Right as I shot he ducked down super low and fast and the arrow skimmed right over his back... grr I was soo upset. |
I better fill everyone in on my time over the last week. Wednesday I went out and saw a really heavy 4x4(I thought) Mulie. I didn't get a whole lot of hunting in on thursday but for what I did, I saw quite a few but couldn't get close. Friday morning I went out all morning. I got about 50 yards from a couple doe but wanted to get about 10-15 yards closer to feel comfortable with the shot. It was all open from where I was to where they were so I really didn't have a choice and I backed off. I watched a pretty nice 4x4 mulie and 2 doe for about an hour but couldn't get set up in a position to do anything. The closest I got to the buck was about 100 yards.
I went back home friday afternoon because I had to attend a funeral saturday morning. My brother in law, sister and I headed out right after the funeral to do some rifle hunting. My dad came out a little bit later. About 45 mins before dark, my dad and brother in law both got a small whitetail doe from a corn field by my grandparents house. We were all kinda standing around in the field when my uncle called and said he could see a deer looking right at us from where he was. I started walking towards where I thought it was and it was a small 4x4 whitetail. I decided not to shoot it. We loaded up and went back to the house and that buck was standing in my grandparents front yard. If I would have had my bow with, I could have probably got him because he was about 20 yards from the pickup. On sunday morning we were all in a pasture and I saw what looked like a decent, but not huge buck. My brother in law looked and decided to shoot it. I ended up shooting a doe at the same time. I went to get my deer and he went to get his. When I saw his I knew exactly what deer it was. It was the one that I had seen right away on wednesday. It turned out to be a really heavy 4x5 that was almost a 4x6. It had one kicker that was about 3/4 of an inch. I didn't get a buck but I am thinking about going out this coming weekend and seeing if I can find one. |

This was in my yard at 7:15am this morning according to the camera I have set up. he's where I feed my birds (5 bird feeders)& bushytails (3 feeders). Deer love the bird seed & they have learned how to tip them to get the seed out..
Yes,my yard is leagal where I live. |
Nice buck. All I have in my back yard are oposums, racoons, and the neighbor dog's poop.
|
added my score to the scorecard today. 131" even. Come on guys lets stack em up!
|
Well according to my calculations we have a score of 377 7/8". That's not enough to get us into first place yet but we are definitely headed in the right direction.
|
No Bucks tonight but 3 does. I had one of my best hunts ever tonight. Sat with my daughter & she got her 1st shot ever at a Deer.
20 yards on a Doe that she missed BUT her saying she was shaking so bad & what an Adreniline rush was great. I'm sure I was more excited than her. I have it all on video... Shes a Nurse working 12 hour shifts, mother of 3 & spent over 100 hours in a stand last year trying to get a shot. This is her 4th time out this year & it all came together. Next time, she'll be right on...Just wanted to share. |
