Thanks all for the replies. . Good to hear that I am not alone in thinking that quality of life is important. Has been and still remains a tough sell with Wife and boys. What I need is a vet that would allow me to put him down at night while at home, then we could say we went in his sleep.

I may just have to suck it up and take care of this and be a bad guy in their eyes for a few days.
