Haven't gotten out as much as I've wanted, mainly b/c of the absurd gas shortage in Charlotte over the last couple weeks. Saturday I only saw a mom and two littles with spots still on 'em.

Next week I'm camping out and hitting the woods hard for a couple days... and it won't be long til my Nov. rut hunt in PA!

Well the opener was pretty uneventful, but then, it usually is for me. I had high hopes with the cooler temps, but they just were'nt moving much yet.
I passed on one little 6 pointer, had him broadside at 30 yards. Saw a total of 5 deer (and 9 raccoons, wierd!) and did'nt get any doe within range.
Still great to be out there again, and lots of time to connect on one.
I hear ya Red. My only goal when going out this time of year is to not spook anything. I haven't seen a buck from the stand yet, but it has been nice to be out and amidst some deer.

Zim too me out twice so far teaching me the ropes. He ordered a new safety harness for my treestands. We are hunting a military base. Getting ready for some rutting activity in 2 more weeks.

Here's a photo of me in New Mexico. We were hunting at about 11,000-11,400' elevation. Really fun trip.

Here's a photo of the sheds my boyfriend found. He's on team #28.

Now time to find a deer this size.

New Mexico looks fantastic! I hope you two enjoyed it.

Not a bad set of sheds. They didn't bleach too badly.

Good luck out there! I hope you do find a deer that big

It does look nice! I wish I had something to report but I have not been hunting and it sucks. Someone shoot something so I can see it! Jim have you scored that deer of yours yet?

Jim congrats and way to put us on the board bud! I’m jealous. BTW don’t think for a second you “screwed the team up.” If everyone gets horn we win lets aim for that. Nice work.

Ywang OMG no wonder your boyfriend was scared to let you on the team lol j/k nice picture. My dream hunt is chasing elk with a bow. Someday.

Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile teamies, my schedule is stretched thin lately. Our opener was this past Saturday and I’ve been out everyday. No big buck sightings yet. I’ve been concentrating on filling the freezer with doe meat but with swirling winds damn near everyday, that’s proving to be easier said than done. I passed on a 30yd broadside doe in anticipation for a better shot at her when all of a sudden the wind shifted sending her high tailing it. As I watched her flee I pictured the grill on the porch with pork chops burning to a crisp. No joke.

This morning I awoke to 30mph winds and spitting snow. Settling into the stand I realized I didn’t make the best decision in location as the flakes blew horizontal by my face on the windward side of the ridge top. Surely the deer would be low in the valley on a morning like this. I stuck it out till 9:45 and called it. As I type this I’m peering out the window at the treetops noticing they’ve now relaxed a bit and the front looks to have almost passed. I should’ve slept in! Tonight should be great with the tail end of the cold front behind us, the deer should be moving good. I’m headed to a N wind stand that I hung months ago. It’s prolly one of my best stands and I’ve been saving it for an evening like this. Good luck everyone!
