We didn't have any luck getting pictures of this summer's scouting. We did see 3 good bucks in different areas including the buck abovebut too far away.We decided not to try and get closer and get busted.
The best buck I did get a picture of was this guy off our crappycamcorder(3x4 )...

Tim, the conservatory land is hunted, but it's by the same people every year unless they don't put in their application and pay the fee. When I checked two years ago, there was a long waiting list to be next in line for an open spot, and it's pretty much dominated by 3 or 4 families that own property around it. It will just make getting a big boy that much sweeter when it happens, I know they're on our property, it's just a matter of time and being in the right place.
This is how we have the farm laid out this year. The orange line is the property line with some of the south end being cut off to preserve clarity and detail. The bright green areas are perenial plots with clovers, chicory, and other things. The purple colored area is cold weather forage with sugar beets, turnips, and brassicas, and the light blue area is buckwheat. The hot pink areas are where future plots will be put in or old ones expanded. The rest of the fields this year are beans. I would put all our stand locations on there but it would put a lot of x's on it...lol

Dang Tim....like I said on page 1, you always have your homework DONE! Now if you can just let the air outta one of them we're gold! All of them seem to be pretty nice bucks.
I'll just post the links to the pics of the ones I had on cams last year. As I said, NONE of these boys were taken. The only good buck taken off the property last year was by one of my buddy's cousins during rifle season, and we didn't have a pic of him on cams either.

Toby
I work on a 6000 acre farm and do all the row crop planting ( 3000 acresa year ). We had broke up a 3 acre patch to be farm quite a few years ago.3 weeks before bow season, I got a hold of some buckwheat and planted an acre of it just for fun to see if the deer liked it. Took about 2.5 weeks to get decent growth of 6 inches. The deer moved in and just destroyed it!!!!! I never got to hunt it with harvest and before the frost wiped it all out but the deer went crazy for it andkept it mowed down to theground. Was nothing to see 20 - 30 deer in it right before dark.
That was myone and only food plot. Figured I got enough farming in with out having to do more with food plots. If I ever try it again, I would definitely use buckwheat again. How long has your buckwheatbeen planted and when does your season open?? Are they still hitting it at that time??

We planted all the plots on Aug 8th, and the buckwheat is already 3 inches tall. The bad part is that even though we got rain where we live, the farm did NOT even though it's only a half hour away. The plots still badly need rain, but I'm confident they will be fine. I would normally be up there as much as possible glassing the fields this time of year, but with work being a little slow, can't afford the fuel to do it much. I'm going up tomorrow to work on a couple of stands and maybe put a babysitter on the big plot, but haven't decided for sure yet. Our bow season opens I believe the 20th of Sept, but I'll have to look to make sure but it's always around that time.

I am too picky when it comes to shooting bucks. I get a few in mind I want badand pass up a lot of good onestrying for them. This year I might not be so picky but then I say that every year and end up hold out for the real big boys to the very end of season. [
] Hopefully a game plan comes together as I will be doing mybest to make it happen. Harvest is really whacky this yearwhich may work out for getting a few more days off inbewtween crops. While it wrecked my planned elk hunt, it may actuallybenefit my deer hunting so I have a little more time to hunt when it first starts. Time will tell.Best of luck on your bucks!!!
Tim
