I went out this morning and did some trimming and minor adjusting on a couple of stands. I am now done with all of my stands and just have to wait for Oct. 1.
How is everything going for the rest of you? I hope everyone who is out there hunting is having a good time and seeing some deer. |

RE: Official Team 21 Thread
Well the hunting got better, then things went south. Didn't see anything Friday evening, then Sat morning I had 2 does walk in on me and hang around for about 20 minutes. The biggest doe did almost a 360 around me within 10 yards. Saw 1 more doe Sat night.
Sunday morning my possum friend made another appearance just before light. Then just after 6:30 I could hear something coming thru towards my stand. Kept looking and thinking I could see something moving, then all of the sudden I could see well enough to make him out just 10yds away. At first was going to let him pass, then he lifted his head up and the left side G-2 was split. Pulled back and released an arrow and heard that wonderful sound and watched him jump/twist and take off into the shadows. After about 15 minutes I climbed down to check my arrow and there it was, stuck 2 inches in the ground covered tip to tip with blood. I headed back to the cabin to give him time. An hour later I picked up the trail and followed him for about 200 yds before I ran out of blood. Spent a couple hours looking for more blood, tracks and sign of where he went. I finally got ahold of one of the other guys and both of us hit it again. We followed tracks for about 50 yards before we found 2 more spots of blood, then followed tracks for about another 50 yards - then nothing. Drove the 4-wheeler down to the bottom it looked like he was headed to and checked the creek to no avail. I took a pic of the arrow stuck in the ground, I'll have to upload it to see what you guys think. He was standing so close I did not get a good view of where I hit him, but by the way it was stuck in the ground the only thing I can think of is that I hit him low. This was a first I was not looking forward to - had not lost a deer to date. I'll be out there again this weekend though, and I'll be looking again. |
RE: Official Team 21 Thread
I hate to hear that you lost one, but it sounds like you gave it your all trying to find him. Keep your chin up and stick with it. Good luck when your out there this weekend!

RE: Official Team 21 Thread
I'm still waiting for 1 October to roll around to go out chasing mulies, but here is the result so far from elk season. I had the most exciting 90 minutes of elk hunting ever last friday morning.3 big bulls sounding off, worked the one herd bull into 30 yards but couldn't close the deal. Then got a shot at one of his cows at 23 yards. I still have another elk tag so this weekend I'll be back out trying for one of the bulls.

Awesome elk! I get to go elk hunting next year! yay!!
I am getting so frustrated guys. I have sat and hunted every day for the past month and I do not have a deer yet. I dont understand it....I work twice as hard as everyone else I know and they kill deer like its nothin. All I want is a doe for crying out loud!!! lol |
RE: Official Team 21 Thread
CH-Congrats on a nice cow! It sounds like you had a heck of a hunt.
Jenna-Sometimes it just feels like nothing is going to go your way doesn't it? Keep working at it and I'm sure you'll connect. |
