|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread

|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Well well, sounds like you're ready to go. I'm hunting family land in AL, when I can find the time away from classes. Were you by chance on the 1st place Tominators in the turkey contest two years ago? I'm lookin at my team poster and see a HB logo at the bottom of some pictures. Just wondering if that's you.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
No, this is Jeff.....owner/host of HB.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
What's up guys I'm hunting MO this year. Can't wait to get this thing started.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Hey fellas-
Just checking in for the day. Raining here but nothing like a nap to the sound of rain on the steel roof. Hunting only Illinois this year. Maybe thinking of a teammate hunt this year. Anyone have a valid Illinois tag and want to come to Bureau County this fall? 1600 acres to tempt youwith160"+ bucks! |

We will be okay if we can all pitch in to absorb one hunter from Alabama. Man, I get shafted every year. |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Jeff is "TeamHB"
I was just joking obviously...hes hunting like 6 states!!! :DLucky! :) |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Sort of kinda caught on to that. But I am not one to lay off the punches to the gut. I wish I could hunt 6 states. I'm stuck here in Illinois. Oh well, we will see what ruts by in November. And December. And January.... brrrrr......hhhhm January.

RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Mike,
I saw an episode of your show the other night with you guys hunting turkey. Great show and good luck. |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Mercs, what the hell are you talkin about "absorbin" one hunter from Alabama? You get "shafted" every year? Poor pitiful you. I sure hope that was sarcastic, cause if it wasn't I'll damn sure vote to trade your cocky ass quick. Boy this is gonna be a fun contest. Some bowhunters just think they're the shyt. I wish a damn cocky yank would walk under my stand this year, I'd earhole him.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
All that talk about earhole'in makes Deliverance the movie seem to real a possibility there reb. OF course I am kidding about absorbing a hunter. This isn't the political forum where slinging arrows at each other is the tradition. And I don't think I am the shyt, just proven to be successful given my habits. Same as a hundred others on this forum. I'm no different than anyone. IF anything just habitual with ground that has good bucks. Anymore, it aint the bucks that matter its the 80#'s of jerkey I have to ahve to get me till October. Good luck to us both. (I'd have foughtfor the South if it matters any.)

RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Aight, I justthink it's wrongfor my skills and success as a hunter tobe judged by what state I live in.Of course Alabama doesn't have thenumbers ofquality bucks like Illinois and other states do, it's just not possible with the type of land andlenient regulations here, but I think I have some of the best hunting in this state and have a very good chance of contributing some quality points to try and win this thing. I won't kill a 180" buck this year like some of you will, but every season for the past5 years there has been at least one 140"+ buck taken fromeither my property or the club next to me, so I know there's a chance of scoring big. Also, Deliverance is a great movie, and I guarantee you there's plenty of crazy hillbillies down here capable of somethin stupid like that, but I won't be earhole'in anybody anytime soon, my Southern pride just came out a bit too much there. No hard feelins, we're on the same team for the next 5 months so I wish you the very best of luck also.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
I like the teammate rivalry starting up already.:D Mercs, I almost went and bought an out of state tagfor illinois. I got a few properties I can hunt over there but I decided against the $400+ while I'm still in college.[:@]
I'll make due over here. |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Bump this to the top for those on the team that haven't seen it yet.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
We need a team name and I'll go first. Since we are all from different parts of the country and America is the shiznit when it comes to the world's best country how about.... "Team Bars and Stars" or "Old Glory" Team Stars and Stripesanything patriotic. Election year and all.

RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Just checking in Team. I hunt Bear Valley, WI and will only be hunting this year from Nov. 9th - Nov. 16th. (I live in Dallas but hunt up north). I cna promise that I will register a buck, and he will be no less than 125 inches (though there are some 150+ near where I hunt. Looking forward to winning this year.

RE: Official Team 35 Thread
3stone, I actually live and go to school in Auburn, but I'm from Randolph County and hunt family lands up there. It's a little over an hour north of Auburn. I went up there today after classes this morning to bush hog and start disking up some spots to plant. I put my game camera out 2 weeks ago over a corn feeder, checked it today and didn't have a single picture on it. I usually have a lot more, but this is the first year I've put it over an actual feeder, as opposed to piling the corn up. I get better pics with a pile. I moved it to a different tree, same location, maybe it'll work now. But they'vebeen eating the corn and diggin holes on my deer cane spots. One spot was completely tore up with tracks and they have dug a hole about 10 inches deep in the ground in just 2 weeks. My persimmon trees look very nice, and we also found some good lookin white oak acorns today. I'm also planning to hunt my landlord's private land in Tuskegee a couple of times, he alwayssticks at least 2 or 3 nice bucks from there every year. Might get to hunt my buddy's farm in Selma, not too sure about that yet though. Of course I'll hunt national forest around here when I don't have time to drive back home and hunt. But from what I've seen at our land at home, and the different approach we're taking with planting this year, I think it's gonna be a great season. And by the way, me and mercs are through bickering, we're ready to pick a team name and a cap'n. Mercs, I'm with ya on the patriotic name, because like Ted Nugent says, "You can't do this is France!" I can't think of any right off, I'll be thinkin.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
I'll also go with a patriotic name. Maybe something along the lines of stars, stripes and big bucks or red white and horn. I don't know...
Anyone want to volunteer for captain? I can do it as I've done it before in deer and turkey contests but if someone wants to do it go ahead.:) |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Let's go with Patriotic, but clever. Here are a few suggestions to get things started:
1. Buck Scuds 2. Axis of Venison 3. Bucks are Evil 4. Your Either With Us. Or Your Dinner. 5. Courtesy of the Red White and Camo 6. Sheehan's a Whore 7. Charlie don't Surf! 8. The French eat babies. Don't they? 9. I Love the smell of Venison in the monring 10. Hey PETA...Bite me. 11. Smell's like Victory 12. Blitzkrieg Pleas add you own, then we can vote. By the way, I vote Mo_Bowhnter for Captain. He has lots of time on his hands since he won't be shooting any deer. LOL! |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
We need a team name AND a slogan.
For example "Axis of Venison" would make a good team name, and "You're either with us, or you're venison" would make a good motto. |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
I'd also second Mo Bow as captain. Judging from his post count he hasn't got much else to do. Plus he's in college, so I know he hasn't got a social life.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
some more names/slogans:
1. Nutz in the gut pile 2. Bone collectors 3. Saving the world, one gut pile at a time 4. Does are for bait. |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
How about Team Coyote Feeders
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
I'm in college, and that doesn't mean free time for me. I'm busy as hell with 16 hours worth of industrial engineering classes and a b.s. computer course. Whoever wants to be captain can be captain, I dont care. As for some team names, I really would love a patriotic name, but I would like for it to have something to do with slaying deer. Some of the previous suggestions are good and follow that line of thinking. Here are a few of my suggestions:
These kind of have a little to do with U.S. Military and Freedom to slay animals. 1. Aerial Assault 2. Only in America 3. Bloodbrothers 4. Red Rack 'n' Blue 5. Buck Brigade/Battalion 6. Bone Bridade/Battalion 7. American Archers 8. Meat Seekers These are just some others that come to mind. 9. Whack 'em andStack 'em 10. White Horses -----> to counteract the gay asss Dark Horses 11. Mass Murderers -----> maybe a little extreme, but it's a badass name 12. Death from Above I could probably think of some more, but we got plenty from everybody to think of a name. |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Here's a couple more with some slogans:
1. Operation Arrow Storm "Ending overpopulation, one buck at a time." 2. Arrow Storm Warning "All whitetails seek shelter immediately!" 3. The Knights of Dark Horses "Takin' over the reigns!" |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Ideas:
Top Pin Predators or Buck Bums "collapsing 2 lungs at a time" |
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Alright, I'll volunteer for captain. It's my last semester and I have some easy classes to finish up so I'll spend all my time in the woods, class, g/f and bars.:D

RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Hello everyone, just checking in. I will be hunting central wisconsin on our 300+ acre farm with my father. We are the only two that have been hunting the farm in the last 20 years so Im hoping to be a little help. This is my firsttime doing the contest so I hope I don't let anyone down. How does it work measuring deer for the contest. MarquetteMagnumhunts with me ondifferent propertyso do we measure each others deer or is it the faith system with pics. My season starts Sept 13th so taking a buck in Velvet will be 50/50, I have never taken abuck in Velvet so Ill be hunting every morning this early season. Well goodluck to everyone on the team.

RE: Official Team 35 Thread
I think that Aerial Assault or The Shaft Slingers or Arrows for American Soldiers would all work.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Just got back from some glassing. Didn't quite make it to the field I planned. Had 4 deer right off the gravel path I was walking stop me short. Two bucks and two does, biggest buck was a nice 10 pt probably 125-130. Got a good look at him as I came up on them around the corner at about 50 yards. I snuck out of their and will get out to the bottom fields some other day.

RE: Official Team 35 Thread
How about the "Silent but Deadlies"?
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Team "Rack'em"
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Went up to the land today to do some more bush hoggin. We got two plots and a couple of strips disked up Friday, they'll be ready to plant after one more disking and draggin. We got a whoooole lotta rain the past two days from Fay, too wet to disk any fields today, but I'm close to being ready to start throwin some seed out. We're tryin a different setup with plots this year, looks great so far and I think it will be more productive.I haven't gottenany pictures on mycamera lately, think it's startin to mess up on me. I movedit today over a mineral lick that's beenhit really hardover the past two weeks so maybe I'll get some pictures there. When does everybody's season come in? Mine's Oct 15th.
|
RE: Official Team 35 Thread
Ok lets get a name decided upon. Here are some final ideas based on the ones already mentioned that are pretty good. If you guys don't like any of the finalists I pick then too bad.:D
1.Aerial Assault 2.Buck or Bone Brigade 3.White Horses (I think that's pretty good personally) 4.Top Pin Predators 5.Operation Arrow Storm |
