ORIGINAL: mahoningbuck

Went to Columbus the last two days for work so I decided to leave early on Sunday and film my brother in law. We have a double set strictly for filming and it was enjoyable. He passed on two small bucks at 20 yards and we saw several does.......took a shot and missed. That was his first miss........allegedly!
Allegedly? Brother-in-law here, It was truly my first miss, and a miss that I'm proud of since it wasn't the highest percentage shooting angle. The excitement of pulling off a harvest on film wasdefinately was racing through my mind. Clearly I'm not ready forthe big time yet!Upon viewing the footage .....if you want to call it that. ;-) It lookedlike the deer was 100 yards away rather than 20 yardsdue to the fact it neveroccured toMahoningbuck to zoom in.OnceI released my arrow, for a fraction of a second you cansee the light from my tracernock but other than that all you see istree tops and the sky. Mahoningbuck flinched as if I had just shot a muzzeloader right next to his ear. All in all it was definately worth hanging that double set during the dog days of Summer. As Mahoningbuck said, it was definately enjoyable and can't wait to do it again. I recommend thateveryone should have at least one double set or at least a buddy standso that another person can film you. It definately adds so much more to your hunting experience! Good luck to everyone out there this season!

Well the video from 2 nights ago isn't worth putting up, it's to dark, and my friend is in the way most of the time...BUT we went back out last night and he did cross the fence....just 200 yards to the North of us[:'(]

The footage isn't the greatest, I am using a $6.00 tripod, and it's pretty dark, my white balence is turned ALL the way up, and it's getting darker by the second, and the fact that he's 200 yards away degrades the quality with the darkness etc etc.

I have a funny clip I will put on...glad it turned out the way it did, because it was a button buck.

Ya, hopefully tonight, we still have a East wind which is perfect...the tree line is directly East. In that video ifyou watched the whole thing, we tried to grunt at him, he looked once, then went back to eating...just thought I'd try it

About 5 min. later 2 more bucks came out into that bean field, so there were 4 total all eating together, showed no signs of aggression towards each other.

Thinking about buying a decoy on the way out tonight, to see if that would draw them in closer? Any of you use a decoy before?

I dunno know...in that video, there was a Doe out there first eating, and that's where those bucks headed, you can actually see her running away from the big one. I think I have them pegged....they hold up in the timber, glassing for any other deer in that bean field, if they see one, they committ and jump the fence and head in the direction of that deer thats already there. That's my guess anyway....Well I am off to buy a decoy and try this again....I will post when I get back around 8 pm CST.
