Well thats the bigger one of the three that are hanging out on my place. It was so damn hot I didnt even want to hunt. I only went out in the mornings. The big boy seems to be all over the place. A friend of mine seen him cross he's place and go next door to me Saturday. I just hope My friend or me get him. In my rut spot(differant land)I have not seen to much but thats the way it is,NoBucks early then the rut starts and they come out of the woodwork. So Im going to wait for the rut and then I'll get back at it. Sorry he wasnt bigger but that was the good one in that area.I'll score him and let you know what we got(not much Im sure)

Yeah Frank it looks like us NC boys are finally gonna get a break starting on Friday! Of course Sat. morning it will be cool and I'll be in Charlotte for the race! I guess if I'm gonna miss time in the tree, a race is a pretty good excuse!! Next week the highs are supposed to be in the 70s all week!!

RE: 48-Official Team 48 Thread

I have to wait a couple of days before I can hunt again. I put a new HHA optimizer sight on my bow yesterday and I started shooting to sight it back in. I only had the 5 arrows in my quiver with me since I was at my girlfriend's house. Well, long story short, the shop that fletched my arrows did it wrong![:'(] Since I'm using a whisker bisquit the cockfeather has to be pointed straight up. Well they originally didn't fletch them that way. They started coming off yesterday! Every single arrow had one come off. Plus I noticed my bow seemed to be shooting slow. My arrows(before losing fletchings) were dropping WAY down at 30 yards. Well I took the arrows back to the shop for them to refletch them, for free of course, and noticed that my cable had come off of the roller!![:@] So it was still shooting but it was about to wear my cable through. My switchback has a seperate cable from the string. So now they have half of my arrows and my bow!!! I figure they might as well fix it now since I have to sight it back in due to putting on a new sight! At least its 93 degrees here today so I'm not AS pissed off as I would have been if it was cooler!!

P.S. I bought the arrows back in the winter and that's when they fletched them. The freakin blazer vanes decided to wait until hunting season to start coming off!!! [:@][:@]

I know what your saying frustrating time, I looked over the GIS site for anson county and have a few pinch points I need to investigate - looks like oaks bordering pines on the map, and leads to a huge pond - may be a good spot for bruiser to be traveling

trying to determine whether to take 1/2 Thurs and hunt the afternoon - I will be out all day Saturday

Dave,

This is my first year in a bowhunting only club in Anson co, I think we can take guests at no charge and will look into - I just haven't had time to scout it properly - so gonna use the run and gun approach until I figure them out - let me knoe we can plan a day or two and go down-

I agree whats the score on your buck - ready for the weekend - a S####Y day at work for sure

NCRemington700 10-09-2007 01:54 PM

RE: 48-Official Team 48 Thread

Bowhunting only club sounds pretty cool. In theory that should allow the bucks to get a little larger. Plus maybe some of the SC bucks wandered over!! :D Do your scouting and find a few places and we'll take em out!! Do you stay overnight?

Greg, what's with the wait dude?!?!?!!?

gplant 10-09-2007 02:12 PM

RE: 48-Official Team 48 Thread

Well if I did it right it would be about 90.6/8. I not sure as what they score so I went with P&Y scoring with out the outside spread and the tip to tip spread it should be about that.If they do use it then it will be 18in more. When I seen him I only seen his left side and thougt he was a nice 8pt but hisright side was weak. He only had a G2 AND 3 G1's. The left side was all there. He is not a very big rack but Im happy with it.Like I said before,Im not shooting Doe's so I had to take one for meat.My best buck I think I told ya got hit by a truck sothe one I gotwas the next best one. The big boy that hangs in that area is still there but he has been spending 99% of his time on my friends land(next door) 180 acers. He's got corn and hay and all I had was beans and we just took them off so Its going to be tuff. In my other area I hunt during the rut is my big hope to score a big one. There are some Monsters in that area but very hard to hunt. I hope you guys do better then me!!!!!

So I just spoke to one of the guys at the pro shop that has my bow. I have to call him back at 11:30 to get the real scoop. He said they are going to have to order a new cam for it. The cam looks warped to the left, hence the reason my cable on the left is slipping of the roller on the left. [:@] So the weather is going to break tonight and it will be MUCH cooler tomorrow. I think I'll take my muzzleloader out with me tomorrow. If the big boy shows up that would be quite something. I really wanna kill a good buck with my bow but I don't know if I could pass one up the the smokepole either. Decisions, decesions.

Dave, You guys can hunt with blackpowder now???? Can they not pull a cam off another bow to get you hunting. When I had the shop we would do anything to get a customer back in the woods. I have even set up one of my bows and let them use it(reg customers)untill we got theirs fixed. But thats the difference between a good shop and a Great shop and we where the best in my opine:D.But today there are so many bowhunters its all about the money.Going the extra mile for a customer seems to be a thing of the past. They could pull a cam and have one next day shipped if they wanted to.I would ask if they could.NOTHING TO LOSS. Greg

He called me a little while ago and said they were still checking other things to make sure it is the cam and not a limb or riser problem. He's gonna call me back in about an hour (yeah right) and tell me what they have found out. I spend a lot of money there so hopefully they'll take care of me. Hell they've already had it since freakin monday and they're just now figuring out the problem, probably b/c I've been calling every day. I'm getting aggravated. And yes our muzzleloader season is from Oct. 6-12 and then rifle comes in on the 13th.

You guys are lucky our season is in Dec after reg gun season. I have always said it should be before like most states but Mich is all messed up. Im not to big on gun hunting but when I do its with my muzzleloader. Even in the reg gun season thats what I use.ONE SHOT ONE KILL.

NCRemington700 10-10-2007 12:23 PM

RE: 48-Official Team 48 Thread

Well the shop just called and he thinks that the problem is in the bearings of the roller on the arm bar (I can't think of the term right now). He's calling Mathews to see if they can overnight it. This sucks!

NCRemington700 10-10-2007 01:39 PM

RE: 48-Official Team 48 Thread

Ok so they are getting a roller bar from Mathews and having it overnighted. It should be here on Friday and they'll have it done by Sat. I'll be at the race in Charlotte so I will have to wait until Sunday to pick it up. If I didn't overnight it, it wouldn't have been here until Monday...not good. So I paid the extra money to get it here. I want to hunt everyday next week and eventhough rifle season opens Sat. nobody else hunts in my spot so I'm gonna keep using my bow. Plus the weather is supposed to cool off a lot starting tomorrow so I will be in the woods all week next week. I'll keep ya'll posted with this bow issue. In the mean time...time to bust out the smokepole!!! :D

Here kitty..kitty..kitty!!!! Just kiddin'...awesome bobcat. Now go get that doe you missed last week, they taste much better. Congrats on your bobcat!!!!

RE: 48-Official Team 48 Thread

Nice kitty Mike! I've never done a Euro mount. I think a full mount of a bobcat would be sweet!! I wouldn't think it would be very expensive either. Something like the cat walking on a log/limb mount. That would be cool as hell. IMO of course!

NCRemington700 10-11-2007 06:46 AM

RE: 48-Official Team 48 Thread

Yeah that's really cool. Now just go bust you a squirrel unless the taxi would suppy it.

Yeah, I think the squirrel cost an extra $100... I wonder how you could shoot a squirrel without messing up it's hide for stuffing. Maybe trapit?
Shotgun!!
