Just got back from the SD trip. And again it was a great time, but i didn't produce the big whitetail i was looking for. The weather sucked adn the deer activity was low for the beginning of the week, but by the time we left the deer, activity especially the buck activity, was way up. Next year we will go at least one week later.

Well too bad you werent able to stick a buck but at least you had a good time and sometimes thats all that matters.

Im headin out on a 4 day hunt on Wednesday, got a few wicked spots ill be sittin at first light and dusk, during the day ill be out with the rilfe lookin for elk, but i just got a bow sling so i can carry my bow with me in case i have the chance to stick a deer.

Well guys just a quick update, I just got back from southern Illinois for the second time, this time the tempswere down but the wind was crazy 20-40 mile and hour winds every day!!! We did start to see the buck sign and sightings increase. Wesaw a total of 18 bucks for the four days but only 1 was what I concidered a shooter at 150 inchs. I am home for for four days then back down there for 21 more days!! It's just getting good so good luck everyone!! Hatch tell your buddy congrats on a very fine buck!! !!! Walt

Well boys i got the camper packed, gun ready, bow ready, shotgun ready, got some flies tied to the fly rod, im ready for a fun filled 4 days of hunting and fishing. Ill be huntin for elk with the rifle, ill have my bow with me in case i see some deer im able to get a shot at, but i will be doin the evening hunt and maybe one or two mornin hunts with the bow one a few fields that ive seen deer in alot. Also be takin the shotgun to bag some grouse for supper a couple nites, and the rods to catch some trout, and maybe a few for supper too:). So its gunna be a busy four days and hopefully one of the three of us that are goin are able to put a big game animal on the ground.

Nice buck, tell your buddy congrats. And good luck to you walt. I was out last night and i have never seen the moon so bright. I thought that i would see deer moving all over after sunset, but not quite the case. I only saw a few does on stand but nothing close. Hopefully i will get out a few more time before the woods fills up with the orange army. Firearm season opens on the 3rd.

Well guys im back from my elk hunt. Had a few chances on some elk but blowing chances[&:]. As for with the bow i did get my first bow kill lol a ruffed grouse:D took his head right off at 30yds, id say i hit the bullseye:D. I did draw back on a doe but she was moving way to fast, i seen my monster 180+ buck again but once again he was one step ahead of me[:@]. But today i decided not to bring my bow along and im kickin myself in the butt for that, had a really nice 4x4 whitey 40yds from me, i could have got closer too[:@], i sat a watched him for at least 15mins he was just feeding could have shot him 30 times:D. Also did some fishing and had lots great success there. All the stories and pics are spread out between the fishing,upland and big game and bow hunting forum.(most of pics are in big game.)

Didn't get out this weekend, but checked my trail cam over a mock scrape that i set up. Not much activity, just one small buck. Hopefully will be getting out this week, but need to help my brother butcher tonight. He took an awsome 10 on sat night that came in on to the horns. No pics yet,but he is in the contest so they will show up.

hey guys, havent done alot of hunting lately. My grandmother passed away thursday. I did go out thurs. friday, and sat. So I guess Ive done a little. I had a TALL 6 pt. with some kickers about 5 yds away for the better part of an hour on Sat. Decided to pass on him cuz if he has that character next year but bigger he'll be an awesome buck. I was on the ground in some CRP when he came out. I had just shot at a doe and was looking for my arrow. He saw me and blew, I grunted then he just kept getting closer and checkin me out. He blew and ran off 5 times and I called him back every time, in hopes that the bigger guy would assume it was ok to come out. I finally got tired of playing tag with him and used a deeper grunt and he ran off just inside the woods so I snuck out and let them come out to feed for the night since it was pretty dark by then. No chasing goin on around me yet but I figure by Thurs. things should heat up a bit. I'll let ya know, Im goin out Thurs.---Sun. Good luck to ya. (and for the record in case anyone is wondering. My hunting and fishing is kinda how I cope with things that upset me. I have a big heart, butI only have enough strength to deal with stuff alone. I get that from my grandmother. God Bless Her!)

Thanks for the support team. I never thought I'd handle it as well as I have been. We knew this day would come, she fought a lot of rounds. The last time she told me I think she said she had 30 to 40 heart attacks in the last couple years. Most people are lucky to survive 1. She would have one every few weeks or so, and most were so small that she didnt even know. But when she'd go to the doctor they'd show her all of them that she had since the last visit. My daughter has been pretty much 1/2 raised by my grandma since she loved spending time with her. My daughters 4 years old and doesnt quite understand. At the funeral I gave my G-ma a kiss on the forehead and asked her to be my daughters guardian angel and watch over her as she had for the past 4 years. Im pretty sure she will, I just hope she takes a bit of time to spend with me while Im in the stand to help put TEAM 12 on the board!! Just thought I'd put this out there, it sounds kinda crazy. When my daughter was about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs old she would talk to "Bob" while me and her mother were out of the room. While walking to check on her we'd sometimes hear her say "bye bob" before we got to where we could see her. After months of this and not figuring out where she met a Bob and no cartoons she watched hada "bob" we were baffled. We were going through some old things and found the obituary for my girlfriends father (daughters grandpa) who had passed away about 4 years before my daughter was born. His name Robert, the only "Bob" any of us knew personally. Wierd huh? (sorry had nothing to do with huntin)

Man trigger thats a nice Buck! I shot a nice size Doe today at 10;30am. Will try to post Pic's later. I have off all next week. It nice to have some meat in the frezzer. Im 100% Buck hunting and things are starting to heat up and the weather is changing for the better. Its looks like it going to be a good last week!!!:D

Guys, been busy hunting. Here's one for the team. I'll put it in the scoring section in a couple of days after I get the antlers back from the taxi. Then I can score it accurately. So far I came up with 168+.
