Hey guys and gal I need help picking a week in Oct or Nov to take off for hunting here in KY. I was supposed to be off next week but the grandmother of one of my guys passed away tonight and he is going to be out most of next week. Since there's only three and a half of us on second shift ( one trainee), I didn't want to leave my other guy there basically alone. Don't really want to wear hunter orange so maybe not November 10 - 25 (modern gun season). Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated !

I would pick out a couple of weeks before the gun season hits! If you know or can pin point- when the bucks are hot and heavy in rut pick then. In my neck of the woods they go into rut pretty heavy about the end of Oct to mid November it might be a little different there than it is here. Thats just my opinion. When does it start to cool down there?

I concur with huntinlady,
First 2 weeks in Nov have always been good to me.
I have killed 4 bucks on the last weekend in Oct also.
Troy since you like my camo pictures here is me in Enigma

Rob,
I thought your acreage was private? If it is only you hunting on it, you might want to focus on
hunting the rut even if during gun season. The deer will be moving and the gun hunters might
push deer on your relatively unpressured property. Just a thought.
Germ,
You sponsoring a camo fashion show? BTW, Sitka shows off your figure better.
Waiting on an update from Troy about how he slayed a monster buck.
Can't wait to get out of the office and get in the woods this weekend. Got a lot to do.

Will, The hunters pushing deer to my property has crossed my mind.Public or private, I thought the hunter orange law still applied. My property is posted but someone may choose to ignore the signs. Better safe than sorry
Thanks guys and gal for the suggestions. I think that first full week of November may be good.

Just browsed some other state laws and see that some have hunter orange exceptions for bow hunters, hunting from tree stands, etc. Kentucky seems to be hunter orange without exception.
