43- Official Team Chaos Thread
#494
I'm gone 6 days and you guys are at page 50! good Lord its gonna take me 6 more day to catch up on this reading. Guys I absolutely had one of the best 6 days of my hunting life. My cousin Trouthunter and I videod my entire hunt. I didnt kill a goat. Had some very close calls and hunted my arse off all day every day...Water was everywhere so water holes were not an option. We hunted speed goats from 5000 to 8000 feet in elevation. Pretty much up on the timber line with the elk. Saw a cougar, wolf, yotes, elk, moose, and hunted goats everyday and learned a ton. I really got served some humble pie in my yardage assesments and missed SHORTtwice misjudging that open country on two nice bucks.. Live and learn, I just bought a range finder today after getting home last night at about 1 am.. All in all I learned a ton in the 60+ hours Scott and I hoofed and drove over about 50 miles of public ground. I have some great footage of a monster loper buck (he had 19 does)I got within 60-70 or soyards of and passed on due to hvy winds..We have footage of almost every other buck we spot and stalked or tried to ambush after patterning them. I really needed more time..for patterning.. The country was beautiful and huge!
OK ... time to get focused on Whitetails.. Just wanted to let ya know how it all went down. I have a lot of photos and video to break down for a journal..
I am gonna go get some sleep in.. I have stands to hang tomorrow. I hope everyone here on team 43 is doing well and I will get caught up on the thread soon..
peace out ...
Troy

Man that sounds like fun. I hunted them once in Wyoming about 23 years ago. But that was with rifle. The neat thing about out there was, you could almost always see some somewhere.
Well anyways welcome back, hope you get all caught up on the team postings and sleep. Now get your arse ready to kill a bruiser whitetail.
Looking foward to the pics!!!

Troy,
Shows you don't have to kill to enjoy yourself. Sounds like a blast. Let us know when you
post your journal.

My cousin and I had the best time laughing and learning about what we called the KRAZY "blanking" lopers! We shed a few pounds..hiking our butts off.. LOL
Finally, I am sold 100% on this type of archery hunt... Its a big challenge and I love glassing and stalking in on anycritter..this hunt was all I could ever ask for and more of apublic ground opportunity. We found a buck to target everyday, cant ask for more than that.. I purely didnt get the shot taken care of.. but I am already looking forward to next summer, I am gonna go for about 10 days, get there a couple days before season for scouting...take my family next time too, because we had absolutely beautiful streams and rivers to fish way down in the low country..the boys might want to sit in a sage brush ambush blind with me a few hours as well..
I'll get a few pix up, cant do the Utube thing..here its too slow on Dial up ..when I get back to teaching in a week though I will try to get some video clips loaded at work ...
