Looking forward to a great season ,looks like a group that could go 10 for 10. |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Great to have you Steve. So your hunting out of Canada? Awesome. I hunt in Kentucky and Kansas. I've had pretty good success and really looking forward to the Ky opener on September 1st. Been seeing at least one potential shooter. I hunt exclusively with a bow for the past seven years, a bowtech guardian this year.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else check in. If we don't hear from them in the next few days, we'll PM them early in the week. It should be fun. I'm not too familiar with the rest of the team with the exception of Rick James, so it'll be nice to get to know a few more folks. Take care. |

Hey there guys,
Sorry for the late reply, I just got in today from a 5 day trip to Canada. Looking forward to the season and meeting all of you guys/girls. |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Hay Kelly ,I had to read that twice sept 1 .I'm not sure I can deal with you starting a month before me. That hardly seems fair:(

RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Yeah Steve I'm good to go. Been checking the game cams, shooting every night. I'm pumped. I'm pretty sure one specific buck could be in danger, but I'm really looking for a nice 10 point with a droptine I chased all last year. I've always have Kansas, but I really am looking for a great buck out of KY this year.
LI, I'm still scoring and doing the shows for the boys. It's been a little slow getting the buy in, but it's a small world I guess. I'll have to see a pic to see if I can recall you. You seeing any good deer down south? GT, Lady and Matt, welcome aboard. Sounds as though we have some great tracks from which to tag a giant. If we all kill a buck, we're in for sure. But it's all for fun and just getting to enjoy the season together...yeah right. It'll be fun. Kelly |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Hey there,
So i hunt wisconsin. I have been out and checked the cams and have a nice 8 point here near home and then my twin bro checked the camera up north near bowler wi and we got a pic of a batcholr group of 3 bucks all 5-8 points. We got a nice 9 pointer on the cam as well over the winter. Should be great once season starts. I earned my buck tag last year when i shot a doe so i am set to go for the Sept. opener. This will be my 5th year bowhunting and not to discourage you but i have yet to get one with the bow. I have been so close and let a few does walk but i have the spots finally figured out through trial and error. Most oppertunities have been missed becasue of stand placement so now i have it figured, hung and ready to shoot! This should be the year!!!! Best of luck to all and stay safe Pines |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread

I just got in tonight from camping all weekend. Left on Thursday and was having withdraw shakes from no TV or Internet! LOL!! Will talk to you guys tomorrow after work. It's 1:30 and I have to be at work by 7:20AM!

RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Hey guys checking in!
I will be hunting southern tier NY and northern tier PA this year. We have a few slammers walking around that I know of, hopefully I can contribute something mature to the team this year........ Anyone have thoughts on a team name for us? |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Hey guys, my name is Chip and this is my first season HNI. I am 27 years old andI have been married for 4 years now.My wife and Iare expecting our first child this year :)(its a boy too :D). Its kinda bittersweet, though, he's due November 2nd [:@]. So hopefully I can score a buck early.
I live and hunt in Georgia, and our season starts September 8th. There are a few descent bucks (125"+) in the area I hunt. Team names? Team captain? |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Congradulations Chip ,You better get er done early you may have your hands full with a new member to the family, good luck
|
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
How about Rack-a-maniacs or Antler Anarchist as a name. Just was thinking of something original, which is hard to do these days. Just a thought to get the ball rolling.
|
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Kelly, I like rack-a-maniacs and I vote for you as captain as well.

|
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Looks like we are all in but Sumhuter. I'm not sure what the captain duties are, but if nobody else volunteers, I'd be glad to serve. I was going to vote for Rick James if he wanted it.
Lot of good names there GT, so let's get everyone to weigh in. |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Honestly on the whole captain thing, it doesnt' matter to me much. Lots of great names there I think too........
What about Horn Stars? [8D] |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Horn Stars is pretty funny. We could probably get some real swanky cool theme music.
|
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
So just thought i would let yall in on what i am seein with the cams.
This one is from the local farm here in SE wisconsin ![]() |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
And this group is from the Upper land in Bowler wi
Good luck and be safe! Theinespines |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Rack-a-maniacs is catchy and sounds, Antler Anarchist was the team name that someone came up with last yearthat we used on my old team as well and is different too. Horn stars sounds funny, would just vote for that since I know some people would get a bad case of the shakes with us calling them horns and not antlers! LOL!! Would be funny to see there reaction to it!Kelly orRick can be captain it really does not matter to me. Just who ever does it make sure you like to post alot to keep the team going and alive. I was team Captain last year but did not like having to feel like I needed to reply to everyones post and keep things spiced up. As captain you do not have to do much. The only thing you may have to do is settle a argument orvote on whenpeople decide not to read thecontest rules and help decide if we should bend them and not be firm. You boys can have as much fun with itas you want! LOL!! And Rick, whats up with your Avatar pic? I always shake my head when I see that pic in your post!

RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Also forgot to do a intro. As you may see in the profile I live in Northwest Ohio and around here I would say it is maybe 90% farmland and 10% woods in my county and the surrounding counties. So things like corn and beans do not help the hunt for me, only give the deer a place to hide and go out into the middle of! I work swing shift for Dow Chemical so you will see me post at all hours of the dayor nightand sometimes make lots of post on the weekends and sometimes make none if it is my weekend to work. I am 31 and live in a unbiased stateand have been using a CB since I was sixteen and deer hunting since I was nine. I have a Martin Dreamcast that I play with from time to time but can not bust nocks with it like i can with my Excal Vortex. Did not take a buck last year since I bought a Cuddeback cam and thought I wasgood enough to pass on deer and passed up some nice eights trying for a real nice main frame nine with two kickers on it. Only seen him up close during the youth gun season and I was unarmed! Go figure! I am not going after amassive rack, but also not interested in shooting a small sixpointer either, no offense if any has shot a six pointer. Ihave two nice eights on the wall and one in the shed and a small six point myself so I would like to take something bigger, but not interested in going away empty handed either! So what does everyone else do or think? What is everyones hunting experience and age?Age does not matter, just curious. I have seen alot ofyoung hunters out talk and prove points to some old guys alot and always enjoy seeing it!
Sorry so long, I like to talk to people I will never meet! LOL!! |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Well I am 22 at the end of the month and am in Wisconsin. I go to UW Milwaukee and am working towards an elementary edu. degree...two years left.
I am shooting a new....well used, but new to me, Bow logic 34 at 70 pounds. Yet to take a deer with a bow after 5 years, but hopefully this year. Pines |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Maybe this year you can connect. If I counted from the time I was nine it took me ten, but did not get serious about deer hunting and separating my self from the pumpkin parade ( Ohio's Gun Season ) until I was sixteen when dad bought me my CB. Was nineteen when I shot my first deer, a button buck! But will have to give alot of that credit to my brother since he put me in the right spot and I just had to wait for the sunset showdown!! LOL!!
Are you hunting from a stand or hunting from the ground in or out of blinds Pines? When I was around 23 or so a friend put me in a tree and my deer sightings doubled if not tripled after that and have been in the trees ever since! |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Kelly would be a good choice for captain
|
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Went out and pulled the card today and had about forty five pics. I thought this one was kinda cool and wanted to share....

RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
I hunt out of tree stands. I see deer. It has always been just a matter of getting a shot. The are usually just too far out of range or they would spook before i could geta shot.
Last year i did rattle in a little forker a couple of times. My bro missed him once, and i shot and hit him....but it hit a branch and stuck the back hip. I saw the buck a few days latter chases some does, no arrow and no limp......he will be back..... I also had once close encounter on a doe with an arrow stickin from its back...Figured that would be a good one too take to fill the doe tag. Well i shot and it was headed right for the vitals, 15 yards........whack.....and the deer runs. Get down expecting to find blood. All i got was half an arrow. My arrow literally broke the arrow off the deer leaving no wound from my shot.....and i thought that was it. But other wise its not seein deer it just havin it all come together that i need, and well my hopes are super high this year. I already have my buck earned so i can take a couple of bucks if i get the chance. Good luck Pines |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Cool pic Hotburn. Last year early season, I saw a doe, did not get a shot off, trees/branches blocking the shot. A few minutes later, I heard 2 fawns calling mom and saw them moving not far from me. Mom went quickly into where they were. Then I heard hem nursing and it was so loud, I thought no wonder coyotes get their share of fawns!!!! With that, the doe was safe as far as I was concerned. I just didn't have the heart to take her down.

RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread

RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Well........ Captain Kelly it is!!
Do we need to do a poll for a team name? |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Wow, not far away at all!! I'm very near Wanaki golf course. I'm an RN at Waukesha Hosp. I hunt Buffalo Co and will be in Ohio and Illinois as wel this fall. I also like to fish alot, cook and photography. I shoot a new Parker Challenger (got it end of March) and pull 47#. If I say so myself, I'm a pretty decent shot out to 35 yards. I'm hoping this fall is my year, I've had health problems the last 3 fall/winters that effected my seasons, but, that problem should be taken care of, had surgery before Christmas last year and should not have that problem again (diverticulitis).
Guess this was more than you asked, but I don't think I have given much info on myself and it helps if we know our team members a bit. |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Checking in again guys. Come up with a team name, and I'll make us a logo (avatar). I made my current one for the Turkey Contest as well as our team's logo for last year's Bow Contest. How about everone post what they're shooting this year?
Ross Cr334 29" @ 60lbs Easton ACC 3-49 / 2" Blazers 100gr Slick Tricks Also, a little more about me, I'm 22, just graduated from Millersville University with a B.A. in Technology Education. I was just hired about a week and a half ago at a local high school teaching desktop publishing, so I'm pretty pumped about that. |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
Congrats on the new job Matt. I'm shooting a Bowtech Guardian, 70lbs, Carbon Exp Maxima arrows tipped with G5 Strikers.
As far as the name, Georgia had recommended a few, Rick came up with Horn Stars and I came up with Rack-a-maniacs.So, what's itgoing to be team. I'll vote for Rack-a-maniacs. Kel |
RE: 18 - Official Team 18 Thread
I Vote for Rack-a-Maniacs. Horn stars just ain't buttering the bread at the moment right now.
