Hey all, I actually took the day off to just unwind and get a few things together for the weekend. I can not wait to get in the stand. I think everyone has a little bit longer to wait, but as a captainly reminder, check out the rules posted and get some great pics.
With some luck, I'll have one to score for the contest, but my season is long and I have my trip to Kansas in late Oct, first of November. But that's going to stop me from tagging one here at home early if the chance presents itself. You all take care. kelly |

Well, deer down. I didn't know if I would or wouldn't and four years of waiting here on the farm was enough to help pursuade me to take the shot this morning. Definitely not the largest deer I've shot, but cool nontheless. He still has some dried velvet on, which made him look a little largest than he taped out. 126 even, about 6 inches less then I thought. He came in around 7:30 and was dead by 7:36. I didn't give it too much thought. I was a little too ready, LOL. He'll have some major deductions, about 23 inches worth....ouch, but should look great on the wall.
So, we are on the board and a good start if I do say so myself. It was a great morning to be in the stand, as they all are. I may have a few days to begin working on my doe tags, I think I put the fear of God in every deer within 200 yards of the shot. The buck didn't take kindly to having one through the vitals. Way to go!! Congrats to you and that is a nice buck for sure, I would have not had to think on it much at all! LOL!! Thanks for putting us on the board and making some points. Is Kentucky a one buck only state or can you still go after more if need be? Congrats again!

Okay....I'm officially embarassed. B&C would be proud that one of it's own forgot to calculate the Gross Nontypical score. You all are correct. It's was a little bit of a hetic morning, so I didn't think to score it any other than as a typical. Scott, I really appreciate you brother, Rob PM'd me and it's going to change. You all might want to reconsider the captain title on that one. Sorry about that.

Although I have to tell you I won an auction for a commissioner tag which will actually give me an additional buck tag and access to all the quota hunts in KY for the year, so I might get lucky enough to put three bucks down this year. My wife is thrilled....yeah right. This might be a banner year. I also got an invite to Indiana, which has some amazing bucks. Kelly |

Blood, I'm not sure exactly where the farm is in Indiana. A buddy from Louisville has access to the farm, I think about 300 acres and the owner said come on out. I haven't met the owner yet, so we'll see if it pans out. Probably just a few days hunting over there, but you guys have some serious deer. I think I'm leaving the velvet on the mount. Part of what makes the deer for me. And to all you smackers....this was just the first of many to come from this team. I told you guys this might be the team to surprise you. I have faith that more than a few of us are going to post a buck. The lead might be short lived for a while, but it's about what we have at the end of the day that will shock this contest. This was just the warning shot. And thanks again to Rob and Buckeye. |

Just another quick update. A biologist buddy of mine aged the deer today and said he was actually 4.5, which makes me feel even better about harvesting him, although I've slept pretty well the past two mornings regardless. Anyhow, I'm ready for the rest of the team to get in the woods and enjoy this great time of year.

Congrats to Kelly on a great looking buck. Sorry, I haven't been on here in a while. I have been busy starting a QDMA chapter and hosted a banquet. I had been getting pictures of a good 4.5 yr. old basic 8pt with 3 kickers. He would gross in the upper 140's. I had bush hogged Sat. & Mon. evening I had put a camera out. I went to check the camera Tues. evening.(due to the fact I had left the keys in the lock on the camera) I smelled something dead. I investigated and found him dead within 100 yds. of where I had placed the camera. I went home got the saw and went back and got the rack. I know his age by the split in his ear and have serval pictures from previous years. I think EHD (blue tounge) was the cause of death. He was laying on the creek bank. The good news is that I still have at least 2 more that will go over the 140 mark. If nothing happens to them.

Hey all, i just wanted to tell you I posted a pretty unbelieve cam pic in the bowhunting forum. I actually caught the buck I shot on film as my arrow was hitting the deer. I just had to post it, although I shot the deer directly under the feeder, so I'm sure I'll have some negative press about that. Anyhow, just wanted to share.

Well guys, wish me luck on this weekend! I dont expect to see any bucks just yet (but you never know!), about 6-8 weeks until they start moving good. And it's not legal here (yet) to bait deer, so it's a little tougher to hunt them, especially where I hunt. I always depend on the doe to pull in the buck;). |

Sorry its been so long team, school started last week as well as my year time job.
Well went up to the land this weekend to hang some stands and clear a few more lanes. Everything looks good. We saw 3 does and 2 bucks an 8 and a 5 point. We also saw a flock of about 10 turkeys and put a stalk on them and in the mix was a white turkey. All white and a red head!! Crazy to see. Dont know the regs on it but i would love to take it with the bow Keep ya up to date, opener is this saturday! Pines |
