Taking my son to get him a quiver for his bow.He is finally getting interested without me pushing him at all. I bought him the bow 2 years ago, and he told me a couple of weeks ago that he wants to go after 'em this year.We have been shooting and I bought him a dozen arrows, field tips, and broadheads--so he will be ready. It is special to me.
Going to set a camera out on some new land for a friend of mine who put out 100 ponds of corn that got gone in 2 days. I am staying off my land until opening day,but want to see what is happening at this new place.

manuman...good luck with your son. he might not be on the team...but i think we will all be rooting for him!

i miss hunting with dad. from 12 to 16 i hunted with him nearly everytime i hunted. he taught me everything i know about the outdoors. from the time i could walk i was in the outdoors...fishing, scouting, tagging along on hunts..then hunting. 16 i started working...he worked more than he used to...our schedules just dont meet up anymore. im now 20...9th hunting season. sad to say i havent hunted with dad since i was 16. now college gets in the way. havent even been to deer camp since then. still spend any time i can with dad...even if its just a couple hours on sunday cutting firewood. or a night sitting on the couch BSing. hopefully i can get him to help me scout this year:D he got a spot he says he can get me into...im going to try to con him into scouting for me while we are at it:) he got alot of tricks up his sleeve he never showed me..i know it. one day our schedules will meet up again...

moved back into school today. i chose to live in the dorms again. actually same room as last year(i picked it) and living alone for the 2nd year...alot of people say im nuts for staying in the dorms..i kinda like it. exspecially living alone. close to class and food..quiet..can get my work done..can get my sleepin in...roomate aint cryin cause its 4am and he just went to sleep and im getting up...im not tired because i got up at 4am and was kept up till 3am..etc etc...just little things like that make living alone NICe..and the fact im not here a whole lot..so i dont gotta worry who my roomate let in the room...if he locked the door etc...

im ready for fall. im back in school so it aint gunna be long now...and time will really start flying again....cant wait. hope it cools down for my doe hunt on the 15th. im pumped...but dont wanna be hunting in the heat. i dont know if i will hunt. dont like hunting in the heat...exspecially bow season...a bad shot most likely means bad meat...waste of a deer...we will see...im pumped though...fall is in the air....

Speaking from the opposite spectrum there mauser, I can tell you that any time that you can make for your dad will thrill him. Don't get so busy that you lose that time together.I already mentioned taht I lost m Dad last September. He neverwas a hunter, but I took him on a few trips, and bought him some camo, a rifle, etc., and he really looked forward to us doing thi stogether---that was the most important thing. Now, I have thi stime to always remember.I made time for him, and he made time for me.
My oldest and I have hunted together for a while, and we have always made time together, mainly because it is a shared interest. But, I have also coached, taught, trained, played on the same soccer team--Ken Griffey and Griffey Jr like--with him, but my middle son and I haven't been as fortunate to spend the hunting time together. Now he has made the mistake of showing interset, so I am going to kidnap him! I do spend a lot of time with him, just , so far, not hunting---and get this--his name is ---Hunter!!! I did get to take him, and be with him when he shot his first and only deer--a doe--2 years ago, but his interest has been on again, off again. He really is getting some fire with his bow, seeing that he is shooting pretty well. My hope is that he will get tuned in--but if not, I will accomadate him at some other level of interest.

Thanks Kidd, and I am glad to see you and your son getting involved early on. I imagine you are very proud watching him shoot--and kudos for not pushing him. My oldest son never needed nudging. I started taking him with me when he was 3, and heran off more deer thanI can count during those early years, but it was worth it---at least looking back now;). It seems that having this common interest has bridged a gap that, otherwise, may have beenbe difficult to close. I also have a 7 year old that went to the stand with me last year(gun season), and he and I got to see several does. He did real good, and I don't believeI will ever have to coax him. His first word everwas deer!:)
