Thought I would check in again and let everyone know I am still hunting away. I have passed up several little basket racks so far. Had the wife shoot her first deer ever the other night, it was a small 7 point so that was exciting.

The big ones are just starting to really move so this weekend should be great. Saw a 150 or so 10 point at noon just yesterday out on the move.

Well its down to the last day! My season ends tomorrow, until after Christmas when it comes back in but I seldom go out then.
I let a small 8 walk tonight. He wasas close asfive yds. I saw him last Sat. with the bigger one. I have been putting in some time without much deer encounters. All that time and when it happens it is over in minutes or even seconds! Makes you wonder why we do it. Lol.

Well, this has been one tough rut for me. Got 40hrs. logged in the stand this week and not a single buck sighting. Don,t see too many being taken either. Been seeing does but no bucks. Been hunting stands where I've always seen bucks in the past. This has sure been one wierd rut for me. Shotgun season starts next weekend too. (I'll be out then & give a report.)Still have late season after that to get one with the bow. Good luck to everone else.

well this has been a rough season for me as well have just seen one buck the was awsome but no matter what i did he would not clear the edge of the wood for a shot but i will be back come tomarrow i have changed the stands around in hopes of getting a shot on him if he tryes to do it again good luck to everyone

Well people I lyed. Shot this buck 2nd to the last bay of the hunt. Was hoping for a biggr one. Could have shot a nice 8 pt in Oh but let it walk, have another trip planned in 2 weeks.

My question is I did not take a picture with my Bow. Forgot. What do I do?

Congrats again on that fine buck man! I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that buck will not count. The same thing happened to a teammate of mine last year and there wasa big debate about it. The rules say that you and your bow must be in the picture, no exceptions.

I know howeasy it could happen. Don't worry about the team pointsthough; thats a very nice buck.

Have you already skinned him out?

BTW, thanks for all the encouraging words guys. Its been one of the best and worst seasons ever. I saw the biggest buck of my life Saturday morning. Actually, very similar to Sportsfann's buck. I've passed on a few decent bucks but I feel I can do better.

Read rule #9 in the rules at the top. First buck only I'm afraid.
By the way, it eludes me, why you would not take a picture with your bow! That is an awesome buck and you need good pictures to remember him by. Anyhow congrats on a fine deer anyway.
Not that I will be adding any inches to the total anyway. My season ended on Sat. without even a doe sighting....Good luck to the rest of the team.

Hey sportsfan that's one heck of a deer. Congrats to you!! I have hunted my tail off with the bow and just haven't been able to close the deal. I have had a few really good bucks just outside of my range but I still have till the end of December to try to make it happen. I feel good about my chances as I have been seeing more deer activity lately.

I did have some luck this morning with the rifle. Here are a couple of pics. He was chasing a doe at 8am.

Well, just got back from a week of babysitting the woods. From reading some of the posts, looks like y'all are experiencing the same things. The only bucks I saw were doing mach 1 with their nose up a doe's....well, you know. I managed to bag a couple does. 2 with bow and 2 with ML. When the week started I hardly saw any buck sign, but later I was seeing fresh scrapes all over and if the fat content is an indicator of the severity of winter. it's gonna be a bad one.

Everyone hunting commented on how few deer they were seeing. The mast crop was really bad and most of the creeks were dry. Still have plenty of time to score.

That's a beauty JD.....I'm still giving it hell here in Illinois. I was out yesterday morning with no deer seen. It's been about my toughest year so far. Going out again Sunday....going to gamble in the thick stuff.

Well team seems like everything is starting to slow down but i was wondering? Who is still hunting?

I took the bow out yesterday. Saw nothing in the am. In the evening I had a doe with her fawn moving by at a pretty good pace, then two spikes were trailing her about 20 seconds behind. Twenty minutes later a nice 6 pt was nose to the ground on the trail. All passed at 45 yards. Guess that means there are still some does in estrous around here! I only have one day per week to hunt and plan on bowhunting the same spot next week.

I'm still hunting. Had 3 does come in Sunday evening but no bucks....that's been the story of my season so far. The orange army is out this weekend. I have until the middle of Jan. to bowhunt. How about anybody else?

Just got back from Ohio, some small 7 and 8 pts but nothing i wanted to take.

Was hunting next to an old house from the 1800,s when a button buck came in. Then the darn bb walked into the house, he was in there for a few minutes. I could hear him walking on the wood floors.LOL. If I was in a ground blind I would have scared the hell out of him. Would have shut the door....

Well only a few bow hunts left, will be gun hunting for the rest of the season. Have a big dog drive coming up on my birthday Dec. 8th at the bomb plant in Aiken SC. should be interesting.

I've still got another full month to bowhunt. As of last week, I was seeing quite a bit of deer activity, but the last few days things have slowed down quite a bit. The weather has been warmer and windier than normal. I figure things will pick back up once another cold front hits. I'll be going as much as possible over the next four weeks to try to get an opportunity. Good luck to everybody else!

Well, I only saw one doe and she was on the run.......also seen 3 yotes out cruising. Pretty much had the place to Myself.I still have until Jan 17. Good luck to anyone else still out there.

Anybody still hunting? I was out Saturday eve. & saw a real nice 8 pt. with a fork horn...unfortunately they busted me while walking to my stand, they were standing on the edge of a field I was walking through at 1pm. Also had 2 doe come in but no shot presented. Have 1 weekend left to the season here. Good luck to anyone else who may still be out!

Season is over for me here in VA. Didn't have much luck this year getting a buck on the ground. Actually, I had a lot of bad luck this year.

The last hunt of the season this weekend.....going to try to get er done. It's been a very tough season for me this year, bt as the saying goes....a bad day hunting beats a good day at work anyday! Well, I'm officially done for the year. Went out sat. eve., had 6 does come in at 3:45. They fed around and under my stand for an hour and a half. I could have taken my pick but decided to hold off and wait for a buck since I have enough meat to last me till next season. Unfortunately no buck showed up, they are really hunkered down now do to the heavy hunting pressure on the public land that I hunt. Had to climb down after it got dark with the does still around me....guess spooking them a little don't matter too much now. Was a tougher than normal season for me (buck wise)....clocked a lot of hours....sorry team, there's always next year! Don't know if anyone else is still hunting....good luck if you are.
