Surf, I'm unfortunately in Fayette County. There's not an abundant crop of monsters, but always a few big ones get killed every year. I killed a 120 inch 10 point 2 years ago. Things are starting to pick up around here with a 6 point minimum in my area

Hey Wash Hunter, you know it's kind of ironic. About a month ago, I posted a thread asking if the Bowhunting contest had passed. Ya told me "Yea, sorry. Better luck next year."

Hey Wash and Kodiak well we have both coasts covered. Glad to be aboard. I may have to start looking for some of those backyard bruisers that we have here on Long Island. Theycan get pretty big if you don't mind hunting in someones back yard listening to kids playing and dogs barking:D.

Paul
Yeah, I hunt with a friend in Westchester every few years, sitting in a treestand watching everyone come and go to work, poor bastards! Biggest buck I ever saw there alerted me by getting his rack tangled in the neighbor kid's swingset on his way into my woodlot in the morning!:D He was a 160 class monster 8 and I never did get a shot at him... maybe I need to go back to NY in Nov.
Why don't you give me the address so I can take the 20 min trip to Westchester[8D]. I'm right accross the river, but the deer seem to have a little different genetics on this side:(. Let me know next time your in the area.

Oh yea... good luck keeping up w/ us, I'll try to think of you guys even when we're crowned 2007 Champions!!![8D]

Well guys, I figured we needed a team picture to put up as our Avatar...I am not a computer whiz, and if anybody has a better one, please post, but here is what I was able to come up with. If someone could help me figure out how to post the picture, I will show her to everyone.

Thanks

Where it says "click here to upload" click on it, click on "browse" and select the file (make sure you downsize it to less than 100kb) and after it says it's loaded come back to the message page and check the "embed picture in post" button.

I'll be heading out tomorrow morning to finish fine tuning my bow. We'll spend the majority of the day relocating stands and trimming lanes.

I'm getting pumped!

Dont bother w/ the stands, you have to actually have deer in the area to kill 'em [8D]

Shot fixed heads out to 50 last night. I may hunt out behind the house tonight for a few hours after work. There's been 2 big bucks hanging around the neighborhood.

Well we went out this morning and shot the bows. I'm dead on out to 70 yards.

We pulled into the driveway at the property to look into the alfalfa field and see a nice buck feeding his way to the back end. He wasn't very wide but boy was he tall. I'd guess his G2's were at least nine inches. He'll be one I'm keeping my eye out for.

A friend of mine just invted me out to this prime mule deer property. He's got several bucks that will gross 160+ with at least three that will go 180.

We're going to head out the first part of September and see if I can't get myself a velvet mulie. ;)

Sounds like you're all seeing some great bucks, I haven't seen any monsters yet, but I know of at least one made it through last season. I know Paul threw out The Boys of Autumn as a team name, and Kodiak put out the Binary Commandos,I don't know if we have a deadline or not, but are there any other suggestions?

Ken

KodiakArcher 08-16-2007 10:55 AM

RE: 23-Official Team 23 Thread

We can scrap the Binary idea since some of us (bass) are not shooting Binary cams.

I didn't get out last night. I waited around for a guy that was supposed to come pick up some arrows I fixed for him and drop off some more. He no-showed and wasted a whole evening's hunt for no reason. People wonder why I don't have a shop? I don't mind helping a guy out but that just torques me off. On a good note, I did get some more shooting in while I waited around.

Here's a few:
Bigger & Badder
Passing Thru
Exit Hole
Stealth
Bucked Up

In you guys case.....the only roles of the team captain will be to make himself available for concession threads and to single-handedly wave the white flag upon surrender.

That's about it.

I emailed and PM'd DeerHuntMO. I'm looking at replacing No Shows in the next week. I see you still don't have a name and I don't have a capt signed into the capt thread pinned to the top. Good luck with both of those decisions and have a great season Team 23.

I kept thinking about that name Rub Raiders and it still seemed a little off to me even after I posted it, how about Rub Line Raiders it sounds better to me anyway. Washington Hunterseems like you are the captain.

Went out after work a bit last night but it was just a refresher on how thick the growth is in August. Things will have to wait until after moose hunting in Sept. for me to get more serious, unless the big boy that grazed between my archery targets in July comes back for a visit... No worries though, I've got until December and things don't really even heat up until late Oct. when the temps. start to cool off and the 5'tall grass lays down with the first heavy frost. I did find some bear sign out behind the house though...[&:]
