RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
I haven't been to any of my spots I hunt at school yet this summer...I think Sunday night I'll get out ond glass some fields. I'm anxious to see what's planted in the fields. It's about 5000 acres of public land that has been bow only for 5 years now. Should be some nice bucks starting to grow. We saw some nice ones last year so hopefully this year we can put one on the ground.
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
MO, on that 5000 acres do you have many run ins with other hunters? I may try to hunt 2500 game management but, I have never hunted public land before. The good thing is not many know about it. This is only the 3rd season open to the public.
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
The area that I hunt I see people every once in awhile but most of the time not. I hutn alot during the week on days when I don't have class and I'm usually on my own out there or maybe one other car but I usually don't see anyone until I get back to my truck in the dark. The bad thing about public ground is you don't know what's going on out there on the days your not hunting.

RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
So Guys
Any word on our avater of the montec broadhead to go with our new name Silent Entry ? MO was thatlast yearsavater the Turkey? Doesn't go with deer hunting !!! J/k. On the public land you hunt MO ,do you have permanent stands up ,or do you bring in a climber all the time? I was outglassing a fewfields tonight to see whats up and about where I'm hunting. Didn't see much cept a 140 5x4 Mule deer, which surprised the heck out of me,seeing their are no mulie's around where I hunt. To top it off he was feeding in a group of 3 other whitetail bucks which were runts. Go figure,Was windy so not much out feeding tonight. Will get out next week again to check 2 of the other properties I hunt on .To you's hunting, good luck, shoot straight and be safe. God Bless. Rocky |

RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
How many of you guys shoot Bowtechs? I have an 06 Tribute but like I said earlier am looking for something else with a longer ATA. I asked a guy behind the counter at an archery store here in Ohio about them and Hoyt. He said they don't carry either because they couldn't sell the Hoyts and had too many problems with the Bowtechs- limbs splitting, bad customer service, etc. They only carry Mathews, Martin and Fred Bear. Now, I'm not putting a lot of faith in what he said. After all, what are the odds that a bunch of bad bows got sent to central Ohio? If there was a bunch of them they'd probably be all over the place not just at this store, right? Anyway, just wanted to get your opinions. I'm still interested in both brands. Keeping an open mind and looking for what fits me best. How do you like your Allegiance Oneshot?

RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Ohbowguy
hey I 've had my Bowtech Patriot since 04 and love it,it actually was bow of the year that year .I have afew freinds with the Alleigence also and have no problems too. Hope you can rectify what it is your having problems with Ohbowguy. If you look in the forums here ,you can probbably look up any thing you want to know or ever heard on the Bowtech line as their are a ton of follower's in here.Godd luck & Shoot straight bud. RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Ha! funny name... kinda sounds like a certain kind ofmovie i watched once[:-] I MAY be able to hunt a nice property this year that a 148" 10 was killed last season. |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Oh,
I'm shooting an 07' Guardian, and absolutely love it. One thing i will say, the cable slides on the new guardians are junk. Invest in an after market teflon slide and your set. I haven't heard many complaints about bowtech, just hear and there but you can expect that with any bow. Somewhere there is somebody who gets a bad one. Anyway, go shoot a new guardian and i'll bet you will come home with it. SC, Its early, you've got plenty of time to down one. Stick with it. |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!

|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!

ORIGINAL: Pa Trophy Man SC, Our early archery season starts Sept 29 and closes the second week of Novemeber. It comes back in the day after christmas and runs for a couple weeks. I just changed jobs, so i am not entirely sure if i can get any extra time off since i already scheduled my vacation time for my honeymoon in mid december. I will probably only get to hunt saturdays and maybe a few friday afternoons. I really wish PA had sunday hunting. Oneshot has got my vote for captain also. What do you guys do for a living? |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Hey guys another bowtech shooter here. I have an 05 Liberty and an 06 Allegiance. I'm probably going to hunt with both. I just got the allegiance and am still getting used to the different feel compared to my liberty. Love them both though, in different ways.

RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Welcome Childers, Good to hear from you. I had an uneventfull weekend. Only saw a possom. I am pretty much giving the weather time to cool off. It has been way to hot. I found out Fri. that they are going to be select cutting every 5th tree on my honey hole. All they said was it was going to be before Oct. 1. I am not sure exactly how I am going to have to adjust my placements once that happens. I hope everyone has had a good weekend. A high school friend was killed on Sat. morning by a drunk driver. So that has put a damper on the weekend but makes one realize how precious life is. Everyone please be careful and enjoy every day, you never know when it could be your last. God Bless everyone.

Hey Childers great to have you aboard the team ,just one left to show up and were set before the time limit, that's always better than having to make Rob 's job tougher. Rocky |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!

|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
I'm still here.
Lookin forward to seein' the avatar. SC, Sorry to hear about your friend. Wish you the best. |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
What broadheads are everyone going with this season? I'm shooting NAP nitrons like I have the past few seasons and also got a pack of Rocky Mt. Gator XP's on clearance to try out. They should leave a nasty blood trail with the 2" cutting diameter.
Can't wait to get out there...These last 3 weeks are always the slowest.[:o] |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
I am shooting the G5 MONTEC 100 grains. They shoot great.
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
fred bear razorheads. and crimson talons. the fred bears are my absolute favorites. they leave a thick mean blood trail. where is everyone going to be hunting this season?
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
g5 strikers
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Montec 100 grains here also and the Trekon expandable by Montec, both are great products and are relatively easy to resharpen which is a bonus.
Mo are the Gators expandables or fixed? If thier fixed have you shot them out to 30 yards yet? If so how did they fly? I would be questioning their ability to cut through the wind with the bigger cutting blade cause their is more to catch the wind.Just wondering about their length. Let me know as I'm curious. Thanks Rocky;) |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
They are expandables...They use a free floating blade system which allows the blades to easily manuever around bone. Suppose to increse penetration, we'll see.
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
i dont like the expandables that much
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Keepin it simple. 100 grain three blade muzzies for me.
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
so where is everyone going to be hunting?
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
Childers, I will be hunting 4 counties in SC( Lee, Clarandon, Kershaw, and Fairfield). 2 of the seasons have already begun. I can bait in 3 of the 4, gotta love the corn
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
well i will be hunting near kennesaw mountain in georgia. one of the best places to find quantities of deer. last year i saw a double rack buck that had atleast 14 points! biggest deer i've ever seen living
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
SC, very sorry to hear about your friend. You're right- live life to the fullest because you never know.
Sorry, haven't been on here for a few days. Got a new computer and just got it hooked up and on the internet. I'll probably be using Spitfire 100gr broadheads but I'm interested in trying some Slick Tricks or Rage heads. I'll be taking 2 weeks vacation this fall to do some hunting. 1 week to go to Wyoming to antelope hunt and 1 week to hunt the rut here in Ohio. Very excited about heading out west! The experience will be everything and maybe getting an antelope or 2 will be an added bonus. |
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!

|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
I'm hutning here in MO. Mostly the central part of the state and maybe a trip or two up to northern MO where the deer are a little bigger.
|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!

|
RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!
We drew tags in area 42 which by looking at some maps appear to be around Laramie (southeast). Not sure exactly where. My friend's cousin went out there last year and told us about two openings for this year.Applied and got drawn. This will be a totally different experience. Only ever hunted in Ohio and Tennessee. We will be going in October. What's the weather like then? Any advice? Thanks.
|
