Hey all...
Live and hunt primarily in Western Massachusetts... I will heading to Ontario Canada Nov. 4-9 w/ hopes of putting a big boy down for Team 11. Will also be muzzleloading Northwest NY as well.

Anyhow I usually hunt mule deer, but am heading out tomorrow for whites - I can take a buck no prob, but am gunna try and hold for 150+.

This doesn't count towards our team score, but I figured I'd share... I know he is not freak, but a very good buck for here.
I finally scored last night on my biggest Massachusetts bow kill. I have not had a chance to score him yet for the contest... but it won't be huge.
I went and sat a stand that I have not sat yet this year behind a big swamp near a lime quarry. There was one fresh scrape and a loaded apple tree. I was in the pines which were getting dark quick. At about 5:55pm I heard something in the pine needles up ahead. I caught a glimpse of an ear and just figured it was a doe... Then it went to the scrape... scraped it and hit the licking branch. I could only see a bit of horn at his base because he was facing mebehind a big pine w/ some openings in it.He stood there for about 10 min w/out moving. Then he came towards the pine and saw that he was a decent buck by Mass standards. He turned broadside but wouldn't come out from behind a clump of branches. He stood there for another 5 min and every time I thought he was going to step out, he would raise his nose and smell... The wind was swirling and I'm sure he smelled me becuase I came in on my quad. He looked like he was going to turn and walk away the way he came... so if found a softball size hole and let one fly... I hit him hard and the hit looked good. He was about 20 yards away... I heard him run... stop... and then I heard him crash. I pulled out (shaking like a leaf) and went back to my inlaws house and got 3 buddies to come in to help me track just in case. We had no problem finding him. I thought he was bigger in the excitement of the tree... a little ground shrinkage took place. Like I said, he is no freak, but the biggest buck I have ever taken in Mass.

As for captain... I am already captain of our bow contest team.... If nobody wants to step up, I'd be more than happy to, but I'd like to let someone else have the honor!

Congratulations man! as for score, i really cant help you - goto the boone and crocket website itll help. I am bad at judging whitetails! Last two years ive been in sask I shot two 130class bucks on the run, thinking they were 150+!

Mulies are another story - but again, congrats on your first bow kill!

The button buck is considered antleless in VA and was tagged with an antlerless tag so I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter for this contest. Agaucher, That 8 isn't my first bow kill, but my best... I've killed several smaller w/ the bow...
Leaving for Ontario 1 week from today w/ the 7mm mag... hopefully that will take care of my score! Mass Shotgun doesn't start until Nov. 27.

New... Congrats on your little girl!!! Is that your first? I have 2 little girls... one is 2.5 and the other is 3 months. My 2 best friends.... Can't imagine life w/out them.

Thanks Western. She is my first girl. I have two boys 12 and 5 and like you said they are my best friends and good hunting partners. She is precious and I am a very proud pop right about now. Here she is:

She is beautiful New!!! Congrats. I'm sure you will love her to death. I always wanted boys... but had 2 girls. There is just something about them... Definately daddy's little girls already. I hope they have the desire to hunt & fish w/ me... i will introduce them to it and leave it up to them...

We seem to have everyone except IL Ray_Phillips (unless I didn't see him) he has posted recently and I will send him a pm. I think it is actually
IL_ray_phillips. I found two ray phillips on the member list but one of them only had two posts and the other has like 345 and one of his recent ones is the gun contest sign up and he is #86 on the list. So i'm pretty sure that's our guy and that is who I pm'd. He hasn't been on for a couple of weeks but hopefully all is well and he will be back online soon.

Mainly because my online name on some other sites is Gutpile and on Socom 3 online.

I passed on a big bodied 4 or 5 pointer yesterday evening with my shotgun,mainly because the piece of woods he came out of holds some much bigger bucks and I would like to wait them out. I still might go back one evening with my bow and let the air out of him if I don't see anything bigger the next couple of times I'm there.

What a story that turned out to be.
After my week long Elk hunt came to an abrupt halt, after just ten minutes into my first day.....I tagged a 335 gross BULL.........I was hunting in Princeton..Region 8
This tripped didn't go that hot at all.
My brother and cousins ran into all sorts of bucks, although small in size they did see close to 50 bucks between them.
Me on the otrher hand..:DUpon seeing lots of does....
I saw 7 Califoria big horn sheep one huge full curl
that had one side broomed back almost to a 3/4 curl along the benches of the Chilco river,and 3 big bull moose when I hunted the valley they all went 50 plus inches..
I was hunting an area Devels Garden,that is boardered by Anaheim Lk ,the Junction, Gang Ranch and the Chilco River...Region 5.....
I didn't see a buck until theevening on my last day...A small 4 point
I passed on him cause I'm trying to close out my season with a buck scoring above 180......

remember to have a picture of YOU, YOUR DEER, YOUR WEAPON, AND TAG all in the same pic, so we dont have any complications on our team.

My hunting starts on November 18th. There is also gonna be a HUGE meteor shower on november 18th at 11:45pm. Just thought I would say something about it.

one last thing.... we need a team banner! Good luck everyone! is anyone good with photoshop or anything? I could try to do something about it... if anyone else can, feel free to try

How do you take a picture of al those things WITH your tag? Thats weird - because if the picture is big enough to see me, my gun, and the deer - my tag will look like a small piece of paper in my hand.

Anyways, good luck on findin the 180 Jeff, and congrats ont he Elk.

well the tag is one of those iffy things... the rules say if you have to have a tag on your deer, then you have to. I have to have a temporary tag on mine here in Indiana. Some states dont require a tag. I guess you could ask CougarMag about it? good luck. Im workin on a team logo.. ill post it on here in a bit
