For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting "Mahoningbuck", he is my future brother-in-law. He was kind enough tobless us with his presence by droppingusa post, andtalking a little pre-season trash. I want everyone to pay very close attention to "Mahoningbuck"as the seasonunfolds. Youwill find him on team#7. He will be hunting the same woods asmy father and I, two different 300acre tracts, sono excuses "Mahoningbuck"! Please feel free to drop him a line any time between September 30th and February 3rd as I am fairly confident he'll need every bit of that time to fill his tag!Let myself or any of the Broadhead Brothers know if there is anything we can help you with!

RDHunter - I hunt a small tract of private land close to my house (Howell area), that seems to produce decently. I've seen some monster bucks near this area, so I know the gene pool is well stocked. Last year in late August I saw a buck in velvet walking down a trail that had 12"+ tines and at least a 24" spread. He was a big boy. Hope to see him around if he's still around.
I also have 40 acres up in Harrison (not Harrison Twnshp, but the mid-MI Harrison north of Clare). The property is about 10 minutes from Jays.
You sound like you have a great areat to hunt down where you are. I may have a chance to hunt private land in Jackson County this year - the famed premier "big buck" county of MI. That would be sweet.

mahobuck - talk all the smack you want, we'll see.....
And oh by the way, this contest can be won or lost with the addition of a few year and a half year olds up on the board. I know that from personal experience as I edged Team 8 - (The Elite 8) into the winner's circle to take the championsip the first year the contest was held with a year and a halfer. We came back last year to defend our title but got edged out by much bigger deer, but as I recall, we made it into the top three from many deer put on the boards - year and a half year olds and all.
So keep a talkin'..

Well, everything seems to be working well with my set up. Less than an hour into my season here comes a doe. 20 yd shot quartering away, both lungs and nicked the heart. Arrow came out through the back of the elbow and broke, when she ran. Found her 60 yds from my stand, she ran toward my vehicle, so I had a short down hill drag. Before I got down out of my stand another doe and fawn came through. The doe busted me when I moved to grab my release. I won't let that happen with a buck. I said a prayer for the dead deer and thank the Great Spirit - What a way to start the 06 season!

Way to go Deertale! Great way to start the season. I'm guessing this hunt was today (Sunday). Now tell me how you got that thing to run towards your truck
LOL.
That's a nice buck that ohiobuck25 posted. Is that a 5x4? I bet you see him again, hopefully above your mantle some day.

What a great way to start out the season, deertale. Venison in the freezer. How cool is that. With that out of the way, you can now concentrate on the racks.
Ohio - those are dandy deer. I'd take either one of those boys.

Trav,
I haven't been geting any action, but I did go outhuntinglast Saturday morning, kinda as a dry run. Had to be out of the tree by 1:00 to attend some functions. All I saw was 1 squirrel and a ton of skeeters.
Good luck to you this weekend.
