Way to go Berwindale!

I went to my lease this weekend and took some shots of a couple of my setups. I took some of deer also but the picture quality was so bad I deleted them. I did see 8 bucks Saturday morning within 10 yards of my first setup. Hopefully they will stay on track.

Here is a picture of last evenings doe. She should be some fine eating as she came off of a knee deep Alfalfa field.

Nice job! It's not fair that we have to wait to hunt any longer.:(

Congratulations BerwindaleBoy! That is a really good looking muley. Did you inject the velvet so it would keep?

Call me crazy, but I'm getting my velvet buck mounted. I feel with the very short hair and velvet antlers, he'll make a beautiful mount. Yes, they did inject them with something.

I don't think that is crazy at all. He was a really good looking deer and will make a terrific mount.Typically they inject them with formaldahyde (spelling?) and freeze dry them, but I am not a taxidermist. They did that to one of my caribou and the velvet has kept perfectly.

When do you guys get to start hunting? I need some field reports as I am out of commisssion on the bucks for this year. I did miss a bull at 25 yards this morning, I feel like someone kicked me in the nuts. I got cocky and dropped my bow arm, watched my arrow go right under him.:(:(:(:(

I don't get to start until the end of this month. I went out yesterday morning for a couple of hours scouting a new location on public ground. I saw two big deer. One a doe and the next I really couldn't tell because its head was up in some thick tree limbs. The area had major trails running all through it and found one fresh scrape. I am hoping that the area turns out to be as hot as it looks.

Season Starts this Friday here. The wifes birthday is the 16th and alot of her family is comming so I will have to wait until next week to get out. I did hang a stand yesterday on a good trial with some rubs in the area. I hunted very close to this area last year and I am on the trail the deer use now. I did see a small fork horn and a fairly nice 4X4 while I was out there. It's almost go time.
