Seeing the same thing around here, nothing. Don't know what is going on except they must have went back into the corn. More and more is coming out every day so should get good soon.

I've been seeing deer every time I go. Just no shooters. I did see a shooter Sunday night but he was busted up on his right side. His G2 was broke about two inches up and his main beam was broken off about 3 inches in front of his G2. He would have went about mid 120's if he wasn't busted up. He would have been an eight. I had seen him approx 60 yards away and grunted at him. He came in on a string, right up under my tree. He stayed around for about 10 minutes before he wandered off. It was the first time I had seen him. Maybe the older bucks are starting to move during daylight hours.

Things are starting to pick up here, I seen three does Wed. that were on edge when they came in and that was because a little seven pt was on them. No grunting, but he was checking them out and they didn't want anything to do with him. I passed on him and when he was gone for about five minutes I grunted a few times and he came back around. He was about 10 inches wide and broke off his main beam on the right side about two inches after his G-2.

I love this time of year and I will be off work and hunting Nov. 6th thru the 13th, hopefully prime pre rut time.

Good luck all and congrats to everyone whos put venison in the freezer.

Went out Tues. and Wed. after work this week and saw nothing. We've had steady rain the past two days. My son and daughters soccer seasons are over so I plan on going out several times this weekend. Hopeful to see my first mature buck of the season. Good luck to all my team members this weekend.

Seen my first nice buck last night. About a 150 to 160 10 point. Chasing a doe. I don't know how interested she was but he didn't want to leave her. She still had a fawn with her so I would say it is alittle early yet. The rubs and scrapes have started to really show up though.

Well, this weekend was the opener of muzzleloader season here in Oklahoma so I traded my bow for my knight Muzzleloader and went out with a great amount of optimism. Unfortunatly, I didn't have much luck as all I saw were more small bucks and several does. My dad did connect on a basket rack 9 point that kinda fooled him. He thought this buck was a little bigger than it turned out to be, aka ground shrinkage. Nevertheless, still a good buck. Sorry about the picture's color, something is wrong with the camera. Here he is.

JD, congratulations to your dad on his buck.

Deer activity has been slow around me these last couple weeks. I started keeping a log this year and I have been out 13 times. The first seven trips I saw a total of 40 deer. The last six trips I have only seen 3. I know there out there because the sign is still there. I walked about a 100 yards down from one of my stands on Sat morning to check out a spot that always seems to have a scrape and sure enough it was there. And what a scrape it is, about the size of a bathtub! I admired it from about ten feet and could see several different size tracks in it. So like I said, I know there still out there, they're just not moving when I'm out there.

Now that the clocks moved back I won't be hunting during the week unless I leave work early which is not entirely out of the question. Good luck and safe hunting to everyone.

Anybody having any luck?? Just thought I'd check in and see how everybody was doing. I've been out muzzleloading this week without any luck. I went out this morning and saw a decent buck chasing two does. I think they're starting to chase a little bit. Better be out there as much as you can for the next couple of weeks. I think the big boys are starting to move a little better now.

Went out both mornings and evenings this weekend. Saw some does and small bucks. Haven't seen any big boys chasing does yet which is unusual for where I hunt at this time of year. I'll work this week and be off the next. I know they'll be rutting by then.

Thanks to SW Iowa Hunter for both helping me drag my buck out, and for helping me get him posted in the official score thread. I appreciate all of his help. I will now try to get his hunt on camera. With a little luck, we will have some video next weekend to show off. Good luck everyone, and good shooting.

Rattled in 3 different basket racks this weekend. Saw a 115 class 8 point but he was alittle too small for this early yet. The small bucks are starting to chase at least so the action should pick up soon.

I went out this morning before work and had a spike chase a doe around my stand for several minutes. After they moved off I spotted a nice 8 point but he never came within range. I'm gonna be in my stand in the morning, it's going to happen soon, I can feel it.

Well were on the board boys! He isn't the biggest, but I am still happy. I shot a 5pt that will roughly score about 50 or so. I had a pretty good week off for vacation, I seen 9 different bucks. I shot the 5 pt Friday morning, the biggest buck I seen was about a 14inch 8pt. I just didn't see anything big, but did hear some cool stuff I'll put in the full story and pics. The story is quite amusing from shot to recovery. Short version-- hit a twig (didn't see), still hit deer just way far back in guts, wait 7.5 hrs, good blood trail for a stomach shot, deer doubles back and confuses us for a bit, walk up to 6yds of the buck (thick, can't see him) and he is looking right at me, I back out and leave my buddy with a visual, about an hour later come back with bow, watch and creep in closer to try for a shot, finally at 4yds I can shoot through some fine twigs and put a heart shot on him.

Good luck to everyone, I still have my restricted tag (4pts or better on one side or a doe) that I am hoping to fill when I go to the U.P.

I will get my buck entered on Monday or so with pics and a full story.

Chris

Thanks guys and congratulations HUNGAR on your buck. I've been hunting hard since Sat morning plus getting the deer to the processor so I haven't had time to post. I used the tarsal glands off the doe I shot earlier in the year to bring him in. I posted the story in the bowhunting section.Saturday was a very good day in the woods. In the morning I had a doe bring what appeared to be a 3 1/2 year old past me at 15 yards. He had a great looking 5 points on one side and the other side wasbroke offabout an inch up from the base.It made me sick to have to pass him up but I did. Not far behind was a fork horn just tagging along for the show I guess. About ten minutes later another buck was walking perpendicular to the path of the previous deer and when he hit the trail they were on he immediately turned and started coming my direction. He also came by at 15 yards. He was a smaller6 point so I passed. That was all I would see in the morning. I went to a different location in the afternoon and that is when I shot my buck. His rack is a little busted up, but I guess I just got tired of passing up good bucks.I'm definately satified with him, but I'm going to continue to hunt this week since Illinois is a two buck state. Good luck to everyone else.

Good to see some guys are still hunting. Now that the gun seasons are over here in Illinois I'm going to get back out and go after some does. How about the rest of you we haven't heard from in a while, are you still hunting or have you hung up the bow until next year?

RE: 13-Team "Lung Busters" Official Thread

I've been hunting with the rifle the last couple of weeks. I didn't kill one, but passed up on several smaller bucks. I had one opportunity at a nice shooter on last Tuesday morning but he stayed in some thick brush and I just didn't feel comfortable with the shot. He never came out of the thick stuff and ended up moving out of site. I got a pic of a nice buck a couple of days later on my cuddeback, so I know he made it through rifle season. Hopefully I'll get another oppurtunity with my bow before season ends on December 31st. I'll be hunting the rest of the month so good luck to the rest of you guys.

Anybody on the team still out there???? I've got one more weekend to try to make something happen. If I do great, if I don't that's ok too. Overall, it's been tough season for me. I broke in my Diamond Justice on a doe early this season, but since then I've gotten shut out. I didn't even kill a buck with my rifle or muzzleloader. It's the first time that has happened in several years. I did however havea ton of great experiences while sitting in my stand. I saw and passed on over 20 bucks this season. Many of which were within 20 yards of me. I got to watch sparring, chasing, witness grunting, snort wheeze, and much other deer activity that makes the season all worth while. I saw several bobcat, coyote, and fox while I was out as well as many other types of wildlife. You know, it's always a good season regardless of how many deer you take home with you.

Hey John Deer, I'm still out here. I've got one more weekend to fill a doe tag. Our season ends next Wednesday. Sounds like you had an interesting season, and thats what I like about hunting, you don't have to kill the biggest deer in the woods to consider the season a success.

Its been great having everyone on team 13 as teammates and I wish you all the best of luck next season. I'll keep an eye out for all of you on the scoreboard next year and hope to see a picture of a monster after your post, even if you're not on my team.

Thanks to Ite 622 for being our captain, you did a great job.
I'll see you guys on the forums.

Sorry for not being on the forum much. I have been in the woods as they say. I have had great success this year but with the guns. I have taken an 8 point and a 9 point so far this year. And I still have some time left with the bow. If no one objects I will try to post the pic's . Again I did not take them with a bow, sorry. One was taken with a 20 guage slug gun, and the other with a muzzle loader. If you are still hunting like me good luck and if you are through for the year, I hope you had a great time in the woods.
