Team Wannabuck

Why dont we go traditonal *sc* this year, lets not make a sig and just put team 10 bowhunting contest 06 and a link to the first page of the thread? Just a suggestion we would stand out more, last year was hectic when everyone wanted all these sigs. And plus its gona take a long time for people with slow internet to load with all of the sigs in the names.

Alright we have a full team welcome paddles. Hey I don't care what we call ourselve or all that stuff. Lets put some bucks on the ground and get noticed that way. Whatever you guys decide I am easy to get along with.

Team 10 point :)

Honestly though, I'm not great with picking names. Just ask my wife. [8D] We have a son due in January and can't agree on a name. :D

I am handy with Photoshop so if you guys decide to go with a sig I can whip something up.

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

Th doesn't matter to me and we don't need onebut we do need a captain. Does anyone want to do it? I would think Basserman would be good, he is a mod, but I don't want to put his name out if he doesn't want to do it.

basserman 08-25-2006 10:41 AM

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

Hey gang, I am here for you guys to help our team win.:) It matters not that I am a mod for the sake of this team. If you all want that its ok by me. Its ok for any of us i.e. copper and others. I think we have a good group that hunts some fine big buck areas and we can GIT R DONE.

Right now.........I am heading out for a 2 day bass tourney and will be back Sunday eve. Y'all have a good weekend!

Copper31 08-25-2006 10:51 AM

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

I hope you didn't take offense to the being the captain becasue you are a mod. I just thought you have had more experience on the workings of the contest.

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

I think JeramyK nailed it Team 10 Point sounds good to me. Simple and it seems to fit us.
As for the captain, it didn't seem like Basserman said no. He probably has the most experience. Gets my vote if he accepts.

You guys think you'll get ten points? Someone plan on doing some video?

Copper31 08-25-2006 07:01 PM

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

Team 10 point has my vote as well as basserman.

Was that smack mantis? I couldn't tell it was a little weak. If it was, good job. A little healthy jaw jacking between teams will past the time before we win.
And yes I am planning on doing a video, thanks for asking.
Good luck to and your team

Hey copper I think we are Team 10 Point. Can you edit our thread and make it official? I don't hear any objections. We'll have to wait till basser gets back from his tourney to see if he accepts the position.

Copper31 08-25-2006 07:54 PM

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

your wish is my command. It is done. I do believe basserman said he would be happy to.If everyone agrees I will edit the 1st post to indicate that.

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

I think basser is the man to do it. Now since we dont have much to say. What kind of bows and broad heads does everyone use. And on broadheads share any expieriences you have with them and others bad or good. It will be good to see what is the most favored head out there. I use muzzys and have a PSE Brute Force. Vary old bow with no let off.

jmbuckhunter 08-25-2006 09:39 PM

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

I shoot a Matthews Switchback and Rocket Hammerheads, 3 blades with a 2" dia. cut. I like them because I hunt a lot in suburban areas and want a quick kill. Hit them in the lungs with a hammerhead and they don't go far. I don't want to have to trail them thru my neighbors yards. My subdivision has 3 acre lots so we have a little room. I wait for the perfect shot and they rarely make it 50 yds. I see most of them fall. The only drawback is I usually only get one shotwith themand the blades are bent. But I will make that trade every time.

Copper31 08-25-2006 09:54 PM

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

I shoot a Fred Bear Epic Extreme. Full Metal Jacket arrows tipped with 100gr spitfires. I have had only good experiences with spitfires. I have seen most of them fall. They however are not very durable. Some broad heads you can resharpen but not these. The blades bend pretty easy. This will be my first year shooting the Full Metal Jackets.

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

I am still not sure what bow will be going into the woods with me this season. My wife tells me I need to sell some gear. :) Last season I took my Patriot over my Switchback. This season I think the Tribute is most likely to be my weapon of choice. I shoot Beman ICS Hunters and Gold Tip Hunters with Muzzy 3 or 4 blade heads.

RE: 10- Team "10 POINT" Offical Thread

Here are some pics from last year. I found this licking branch that the deer just love. But this is the frustrating part of having trail cams. I sat there many times and saw only does (killed 1) and small buck. These guys only show up after dark. As far as I know noone killed any of these bucks last year. I know most of the neighbors, and the local taxidermist is a good friend. I really want "CURLY"!!!! No I didn't put anything on the branch, made sure not to touch it!!!

I shoot a reflex grizzly with grim reaper broadheads. Great pick on the name. It fits, I've been seeing a 10 point that i'd love to get to help the team out.:D

I'll be checking the cameras tonight. i'll post any pictures that I get of him.

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

Well we are all checked in. Now we just have to wait. I thought as long as we are waiting, I will tell you about myself and a little about where I hunt and hopefully others will do the same.

Once again my name is Dave. I am 28, married with two boys. Darren is going to be 6 on Sept 14th. Jaccob is 4. My wifes name is Nicole. I work as a Health and Safety Consultant for a yacht company, Cruisers Yachts.
I hunt a 300 acres in Oconto county and a 170 inSouthern Marinette county, 60in Northern Marinette county. The 300 wasmy first big purchase after college, the 60 my dad owns and the 170 came with the wife. Her family owns it and they don't bow hunt. I also hunt a 40 that my inlaws have behindtheirhouse. Out of all the spots that would be my favorite.None have really been managed butthere are some big bucks in all the locations.I really don't hunt with anyone. My little brother is a sophmore in college and he trys to hunt the weekends but he parties to much to be able to get up in the mornings. So as sad as it is I hunt that by myself. My dad use to hunt with me but with his health he doesn't get out more then a few times a year. I am not really a trophy hunter. I don't hunt one deer all year. Don't get me wrong I always would like to kill a nice buck, but laugh at his if you will, any animal I take with my bow I am proud of. I know some don't feel that way but I do. I enjoy just being out there. So that is me in a nut shell.

Rick here, 54 years old and 2 boys 32 and 29. I work at Fort McCoy, Wisc. and after being the gunsmith for the Army here I am now a Wildlife Tech. I've bowhunted for 42 years and now enjoy hunting for the "big one". There is not many greater feelings than to pick out a couple trophys and match wits with them. Thats primarily why I hunt bigguns, the challange.

BTW Copper, You can be the team Capt if you want to. Doesn't matter to me in the least.

Copper31 08-28-2006 01:18 PM

RE: 10- Team Official Thread

I would rather not. I don't know to much about the contest once it gets started. It has been real slow at work that is the reason I am able to mess around on here as much as I do. I am a little more pumped for this season too. Let me know if I get in the way. I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

little about me...
Name is Jeremy, i'm 26and I was born and raised in SWPA, even though i spent a year and many vacations in Colorado. Actually over the past weekend went out and looked for a house. I'm an IT consulant for a manufacturing company. I'm not married, but have been with my high school sweetheart for 8 years. She just got herself a masters and is now a elementary school counselor in Colorado. (that was the purpose of this past weekends trip).

No kids....but a dog. Sometimes i think that maybe worse. He is a great bird dog, and we spend a lot of days putting up birds.

I haven't hunted whitetail since i was 14. I've never hunted archery. I got my Reflex last year and spent all winter shooting, and started scouting in late may. I have a lot of deer on film, i just hope that one crosses my path during the season.

as for trophys go...at this point i have my eye one a very nice 10 point. of course that is going to be my first option, but seeing that it is my first archery kill, i'll take what i can get.
