Too bad you missed out on the big Illinois bucks. I'll be gracious enough to go back over to your lease and keep the deerstands warm if you like.
Tim, good luck on those post gun season deer. They can be mighty tough to get close to! On the other hand, I have a slammer patterned here and didn't see him last season till the gun season came in. Had him in range three times but my buck tag was gone. Havent seen him this year but gun season starts Monday and I'm on a property that has no gun hunting and kinda becomes a sanctuary. I figure that if he survives the first hour of the gun season, I have a decent chance at him again this year.

Arnie,
Looks like we'll be coming out Late Tuesday. I may try to get in a day with the bow before second shotgun. Maybe some guys will decide to scout the Buckhorn and bump something over.I'll call when I know for sure when we're getting in. Plans arent completely fine tuned as to when we'll get there yet.
As you saw when we met, I dont miss many meals
and I'm always up for a good dinner!

Good luck getting your buck.
It will be tough no doubt afterthe GeneralSeason gets over. Usually I have a couple areas that don't see any pressure or not much. Not so this year.
There is a real good buck giving all the rifle hunters the slip so far. He is a crafty one. He has to make it another four days. After that, him and I get to play. Been staying out of his bedding areaso not to bump him outfor somelucky rifle hunter. He will be a toughone with bow but do-able. Been plotting his demish for 3 weeks. Could easilyget him with rifle but want him with bow... very, very bad!!!!!!! Rifle is not an option!!
Tyler and I are after another buck with bows/rifles the next couple days. He is in a really open spot and isanother big " old " buck so we will carry both. Hopefullyone of uscan get him with bow. He is a Hawg for our parts and has a lot of trash. Needs to be culled for the sake of the herd!!

Slew a fat doe tonight. Now it's time for a buck!
Actually, Ihad 9 point 120 class buck chasing a doe just before dark. Would have taken him but for the brush.
Good luck all!

I did get a good buck today but not with bow. It was a wild hunt/stalk and in the end he gave me a 20 yard quartering to shot. While I am much happier bowhunting then rifle hunting... this was a great hunt with Tyler. One we won't forget!!
Tim
ps Pardon the tongue, I had shoved it in. The "DARN" camera guy didn't notice it slip out. Can you fire your own kid???

Thanks!! The best part is, he is not the best buckin that area. The wife saw the big boy that rules that areaSaturday night on her way home from town. It isn't over yet as he made it through today ( last day of General Season ). Bowhunting should only get better now.

Tim,
Great buck buddy!!! Nice pics (although I think you, like me should be wearing a mask
), Tyler did a fine job.
You have cute looking children I assume those genes comes from your wife
. Is that the dog in the backgroundyou wanted me to take in a trade last year?
All kidding aside, what a beauty and to kill it hunting withTyler is just icing on the cake!I hope you are able to take down that big boy with your bow. Good luck my friend.
