I am still chasing bald deer.More indications that the rut is intensifying - seems a bit earlier than normal this year. I had a mature 8 ptr (~ 120 class) broadside only 20yds away Fri night, and a young 9 ptr (~100 class) Sat am right underneath my stand. Bothbucks will be impressive nextyear. A smallspike (~10 class, lol)took awaymy best chance fora doe; he just would not leave her alone, and she wouldn't stay still long enough for me to get a shot off.
Keep up with theupdates mates.

I have had some more bad luck. I went out sat'day am and just 'felt' like something was wrong. I hunted and didn't see but 3 does, and no bucks after a steat stream for the last several hunts. In the evening I went back and took a different route to my stand---and there lay a buck that I had seen 2 weeks earlier with 4 others. He had been shot the night before --with a .22! I was sick and angry at the same time. I had already run off 2 guys earlier, and the first was ---as I looked back on it--probably the guy responsibel for the poaching. I don't know how it wil affect the other bucks in time or even if some of them or even the big boy has been poached now. You see what kind of doubt it creates and how it puts a damper on things--at least menatlly until I can confirm Mr Big is still around. on a positive note, i finally found sign of a huge nontypical I have bee hunting since I saw him 2 years ago. I found a rub the size of my thigh that has been hit several years in a row , 2 other rubs and a scrape line!

Nothing tonight... a fawn and a doe ran by me at 10 yards at it was funny..... the fawn was calling to me.... I busted out the new call before he came and was grunting towards him and in different areas hoping that a buck would show up... instead he came in bleating at me... it was intense even if it was just a fawn

Yesterdays evening hunt..I get to the stand about 5:00pm at 5:35 I see movement. It's a 2 legged dip-**** walking all around the woods. Here I am practicing scent control and wind direction and so on and here is some yahoo just wanderring around!! Oh well free Country what ya gonna do? Next comes a kitty cat..then at 6:30 I have a rabbit under the stand so at least I was seeing creatures. I decide what the heck I probably won't hunt this stand again til next week so I hit "the Can" 3 times. I was actually watching the rabbit to see if it would spook it or not. It didn't even flinch. A few minutes goes by I look out to the field edge (I'm 15 yards into the woods). There stands a deer, It's hornless, but fine with me I have a doe tag. It enters the woods on my track and is right below me, and it figures with my luck it's a button buck..he had to come right to the "can". I let him walk he maybe the next big thing in a few years! Hey at least I saw a deer..ends a long dry spell. Oh the wind was still howling but at least it was cold enough that the endless rain is now snow flurries.

Actually, it is only one poached buck. He is one of the 4 thatI saw a couple of weeks ago. I am doing some more looking into this guy thatI ran off. The game wardens won't do a thing , saying that unlessI saw someone actually do it, then there's nothing they can do.There is going to be a gate put up soon---and hopefully not tool ate for this year.
