Troy - One of my best hunting buddies had that happen to him once too. I thought it was B.S. until he showed me the ropeburn around the back of his neck! That's a huge bummer, but I'm sure you'll get another crack. They say the third time's a charm, and that buck is down to his third and final lifeline. Just be glad that you didn't hang yourself or damage your string.

Sum - Congrats on the new job. Have you already found a place at the new site, or did you just start shopping? You'll have to make time to get out in the stand this fall, but you'll see - everything has a way of working itselfout. You might have to knock on a few doors or network a little bit, but you'll find some good deerwoods in your new area.

Quick,

I'd never heard of it, never experienced anything like it. It just surprised me when I felt the grunt tub stringtug/jerk and watched a that beauty of a buck vanish...it just goes to show even when we think we have all lined out perfectly..even the most unexpecting things can happen while bowhunting. Ifully expected to kill that buckto see my arrow driving through his lungs...when he frist came in I thought your a dead deer...buddy...when I caught a glimpse of my arrowway off target, I was like what just happened, I thought something broke on my bow at first...then it all made sense once the smoke settled... LOL

Your right thats one fortunate Buck...His days may still be numberd.. I shot at him about 100 to 150 yards from where my brother missed him.... My brother and I did make a little light of it all... putting ourselves in this bucks shoes... "Geeze whats with all these sticks getting tossed at me!" :D

I figure its meant to be.. I keep after em' all and when I get this home finished I will breathe a little easier and really get after the whitetails.. Good luck guys...

SUM,
good luck with the new job, hopefully you'll still be able to make the best of the time you do get out to hunt.

Troy,
Tough break man, that's got to be frustrating. But if anyone can get multiple shots at giant mature bucks, it's you. Although you got to admit its a little funny that buck eluding shot from youAND your brother. He's got to be careful though, he's messing with family, not just 1 person.

Sum - congrats on the new job- I know about just the weekend hunting time - that is typically what I end up with since it is about 1.5 hours to the farm - but just make the best of it - and hopefully you will find some good ground close once you get relocated.

Troy - sorry to hear that! - I had a buddy that had a short shot at a nice buck several years ago from his treestand, not exactly sure how it happened - but his grunt tube landed by thebuck's feet and the arrow hit a tree about 5 feet over its back. He said it felt like it was going to take his head off. This hasto be one of the luckiest bucks in your area...tillthe next encounter!

Went to the big game (not the ones youwere thinking of - thefirstsoccer game of the fall!) Gscored two goals - just gotta love watching 5 year olds playing soccer!

Less than a week now!!!! Woo Hoo

I still have some prints to ship out -still did not have any tubes inon Friday - will check again this week andleteveryone know.

Congrats on the job Sum. You may have to take what you can this year. Looks like time in the woods will be limited.

Troy, sounds like something that would have happened to me last year! I sure hope that monkey is gone.

Two weeks till youth season in my area, I hope my daughter puts one down this year. She is excited and shooting realy well. I will be missing the first day of bow season!! I am trying the duck thing, and just am not sold on missing opening day in a tree.

3 weeks from now we will have just finished openning day. I can honestly say that I am pretty excited about it.. Been getting down in the 50's at night, feeling a bit crisper, looking forward to one of those 40 degree nights when it really feels brisk... I can wait on the frost for a while.

Good luck Troy...

Holy crap Troy, I didn't know that you offered round-trip shuttle service. You're all right, even if you DO like Notre Dame. Good luck on the whities tonight.

I understand that Ryan has been practicing his bugling, much to his neighbor's chagrin. Take his bugle and cow call off of him when he gets there, or none of you guys will get any sleep.

After a sleepless night last night, I went to a doctor this morning and was diagnosed with a Level II left shoulder separation. Boooooo [:'(]

Fortunately, I'm a right-handed shot. Apparently myself and my friends forgot exactly how old we were and we decided to play football on Sunday morning. My team was trying to stop the opposition from tying the game on the final drive, and I went for a diving ankle tackle on the ballcarrier and slammed into my teammate (who was also trying to make a similar diving tackle from the other side), and jammed my shoulder pretty good - I felt it pop out, andthe feeling briefly went outof my fingers. Apparently, I'm supposed to refrain from contact sports for acouple weeks, and ice my arm down a few times a day. That means no mountain biking, no gym, no football, no nothing. Just vegitating like a houseplant. I called my old roomie who's now a heart surgeon, and he says it'll hurt for a while - maybe weeks, months. Have any of you guys ever separated a shoulder? I'm just wonderinghow long before strength returns. I guess it's a common thing. Not necessarily painful, just weak and achy - feels like even the slightest slap or weight could cause your whole shoulder to dislocate. What a pain in the @$$ this is.

Fortunately, since the doc knew I had no insurance, he rendered his opinion free of charge. Score one for the good guys. ;)

Quick,

Man I am sorry to hear about your shoulder injury...but happy to hear you will be able to hunt still. You're still a young pup, you should bounce back fairly soon. Tackle football on Sunday morning? Dang you guys are hardcore! The last tackle football game I played involved pads ..I can't imagine going out and trying it now a days...Have that lovelybride of yours take good care of ya...rub that shoulder... LOL

Mike and Ryan, Let me know if you guys got todays email, I am not sure its going through here at work, we are having problems with our server.

I sent you guys an email titled "Last minute preperations"

Bulls are bugling guys.. If I pick you guys up early enough we will try calling one in right behind my place Friday evening...

Troy

p.s. Anyone else whitetail hunting yet on the XX???

Fran, sorry to hear that, I sperated my shoulder in HS plaing baseball on a collision at homeplate. It was my throwing arm, and I had it shut it down for the remainder of the season. It took about a month of physical therapy ( probably could have been done sooner, but the therapist was a blonde hottie[8D]) before was able to start throwing again. Hope yours heals faster than mine did....that was back in 92, I'm sure you young whipper snappers heal quicker than us old farts lol.
Good luck Troy and we need pics of the house. Good luck guys on the elk hunt, my mind is still wandering about the hoochie mamma comment LOL.
