RE: Team XX check in
I'm here. From the looks of turkey season, deer sightings this fall should be easy to come by. We'll still see how many big boys reveal themselves by the season. There's always some around.
Make sure you all wish Quick a big congrats on tying the knot. I'm sure he'll be posting here soon. Later guys. |
RE: Team XX check in
Thanks Rybo. Hopefully she doesn't throw me out in bow season.
I just got out my bow yesterday for the first time since this spring. Everything looks to be in fine working order. I've seen a horde of bucks already on afew groundhog hunting trips. Their racks are filling out nicely, and in a month they should be finished up. Nothing huge yet, but anything in that 100+ range is enough to get me excited. In the coming weeks, I'll have to start shootingperiodically andspotting at night time. Same story as every year.Hopefully no surprises. I will have to reposition myself to account for crop rotation, but I'm thinking my stands from last year are probably only gonna get better. The hayfields are coming off now, so I'll be getting after the hogs again soon, and I'll get a better feel for what's lurking in the deerwoods. |
RE: Team XX check in
I's here guys - sorry it has been a while - have just been slammed here at the office (but just don't seem to be getting much accomplished) - gotta get that changed.

RE: Team XX check in
Hey how is everyone doing. I have not been on much either but that is going to change. I did not get anything as far as prizes yet but can't wait to see what we get.
Quick congrats on getting married!!! I have not had a chance to do the euro mount yet it is still in the freezer. I am going to try and contact the head of zoolgy hear at the university and see if the beetles need a little snack. I hope all is going well and I can't wait for the season to start back up. Talk at you all later. William |

RE: Team XX check in
Hey Guys, Good to see everyone. First things first, Quick, congrats! You have now officially get to SHARE your time!
I am slammed here with work, building and scouting in the evenings. I videoed 8 bucks this evening. They are starting to reveal themselves. Everytime I walk by my shed antlers in the basementI think of you guys and know I need to getthose rattles and elk antlers out. This is it! I have 4 days off for the 4th...get me your addy info again guys please..... Hey can you guys pm me your addys again. My list is at my school and live a long ways from where I teach/work. My summer work is another hour south, so I will NOT be getting over to my school anytime soon to pull up that list. I know I should have emailed it to my home before I left work. Well I didnt, go figure! Thanks though fellas.... Remember anyone that wants a single elk shed instead of rattling antlers let me know. I will do the engraving...on either.. The house is coming along nicely, the shop and car port dirt work is all done, I built a big front yard with my dozer and added to our back yard, my wife and I planted it this afternoon work work work!!!. Our place is really getting a face lift. Construction starts right after the 4th. Our permits are all cleared and good to go. Been loggin all this week too. busy busy, put in a 2 acre food plot site for a good friend whom I logging for. He planted it today. He is going to irrigate it to catch it up. I got so much going on I cant find anytime to get on here cept for late... Troy P.S I've been shooting my bow, got the glendel buck target( its SWEET!)refletched some arrows with blazers and easycrest wraps they turned out pretty nice. I got out yesterday for 2 hours and moved a stand, Lord willing, I am gonna kill a big buck under that buggar! There are a couple dandies living in there. I bought the cuddleback no flash and cancelled my backorder on the leaf river, I will let you guys know how I like it. It should be here thursday or friday. |
RE: Team XX check in
Ok Guys, I am building the Rattling antlers today! I will start with 6 sets. That way a few of you guys that want an ELK SHED instead can let me know...
MAKE SURE AND LET ME KNOW... ELK or Rattles! Here are the 12 sheds I paired up a few minutes ago for rattles and here is my pile of elk sheds I am pulling the elk bones from. Remember you dont get my 350 class elk sheds!!!! :DBut I will make sure you get a 5 or 6 point side... if you want an elk shed... Troy |
RE: Team XX check in
elk sheds...
As soon as I get your "PM" of Addy and ELK or Rattles pick.... I will ship them out! |
RE: Team XX check in
I'm around, trying to unbury myself from farm work... Long spring, way too much time pulling and doctorin calves... Getting ready to enter the duldrums of summer, this fall.. I make no predictions... The one field was changed drastically this spring, the ditch commisioner came in and stripped all the trees around the "stream" that a lot of deer watered in. It will make it easier to glass for deer and give them less cover but I wonder what it will do for movement... ONly time will tell.
Shed, I'll shoot you a pm with addy |
RE: Team XX check in
Welcome back team,
Congrats Quick, and good luck!!! Prise package was cool. I was just happy with the win!! But the goodies were cool. Shed- I did pm ya Have a good 4th guys. |

I gotta get up and go to work in 5 hours... I am so amped after what I videoed tonight..I can't sleep...:D:D:D:D:D |
RE: Team XX check in
I know you are busy and stuff but the suspense of what's on the video is killing me:D:D
I'm torn on how fast I want it to get here. I have a lot to still get ready, but I can't wait to get out there. |
RE: Team XX check in
Hey guys, spent all day repairing a hydraulic tilt blade cylinder on my cat, I blew out the "o" ring this morning but to make it right my machinest has to fabricate me some parts to get everything working tight and in a straight line, it was due... At 5pmI raced 60 miles away to watch my sons first ever T ball game, he did great and he had a lot of fun!
then I slipped out after the game, (actually made a mad dash for the mountains and at 8 PM...) I got to my spot just in time to video 7 bucks, 2 does and 3 elk...moving out into some alfalfa there were4 good bucks! PY quality 130s to 150s gross. So far I have videoed in 3 different hunting areasof mineand I have found two real hawgs. 160 class grossers..maybe better... they still havetime to grow antlers..here bout 1 month left at the max though. They dont grow much in August here..they pretty much just harden and then shed velvet in late august and early Sept. No giants but some real nice whitetails to target. I may have saw and videoed "highrack" from last year. I think its him, he will need to grow a bit more so I can see those crab claw fifths ..of his.. I think it is him though...the video is clear but about 400 yards off. I am still looking for Ole Yeller... but like I said I found a couple dandies on my other location. A huge 4x4...21-22 inside ....heavy and long..if he finishes up nicely on his growth he will push 160 gross for a 4x4.. then I think I found the 5x5 (that 72 inch 5 x side shed I found this spring) Looks just like him, hes 20 inside on the video and heavy..of course velvet looks thicker, but I am compensating for that ....anyway.. cant wait to get this video hosted and on ..here..peace out! They're out there... a guyjust has to put the time in locating them... fun fun fun... Did you guys get your HNI prizes??? I did tonight ...its very cool.. My wife nabbed the Tiffany signed Scent lokhat right off and said thats mine! she's wearing it around the house. thanks Tiffany..! HNI staff..thanks so much, very cool gifts! I love it! I will be wearing my HNI hat ASAP and already put the HNI sticker on my Fuel tank that sits in the back of my Dodge..looks sweet! thanks again..for all the sponsers...Nat Gear, Scent Lok, HNI etc... |
RE: Team XX check in
Fellas - I will be out on this season's first spotting run in exactly 12 hours. I've been holding off, b/c the bigdeer around here get pretty skittish in front of the lights due to poaching pressure every year, so you have to pick your spots and catch them off guard.
If you start spotting them at 9, they'll stay bedded until 10. If you start waiting until 10, they'll hide until 11. Well, legal spotting hours end at 11:00 here, so if you keep pushing, they'll pattern you right out of the game. Nobody's started spotting yet, and there's enough headgear in place to see what's really lurking. By the end of this month, there will be nonstop spotting traffic patrolling the local bean and hayfields. Usually the big bucks get wise to that and shy away. We've had two solid days of rain, and a low pressure front has finally pushed through and stabilized. It should be clear tonight with good activity. I'll take thecamera and camera bino's, hopefully I can get enough light on one of the big boys to catch him on film. Troy - you'll have to post those videos online somewhere when you get time. So your boy's into Tee Ball eh? The only thing I remember about Tee Ball was that our coach (my dad) gave each of us ridiculous nicknames (mine was Fireball), then proceeded to paint lines under our eyes with that black tar stuff so that we looked like big leaguers. He had Big League Chew for us too. Funny how you don't remember the games, but all the other stuff. I remember if it wasn't raining, the whole team got to go for ice cream after the game if we won. Once we got to Little League, we graduated fromice cream to sunflower seeds. So how many of our otherteammates have kids? |
RE: Team XX check in
2 boys 10 and 8. Bothare into baseball as much as I am into hunting. Ole button may need Tommy John surgery if I keep pitching bp and playing catch every night lol. But I enjoy every minute of it:)
|
RE: Team XX check in
So BBM - have the boys pulled the old "Dad, I really don't know how that window got broken" trick yet? If they haven't, it's comin'. Brace yourself.
I'd kill for a kid to pass baseball with. My extendedfamilyis hugeand they have about a million kids, but none of them want to do anything besides play Playstation, pretend to be big skateboarders, talk about Orange County Choppers and ride quads. |
RE: Team XX check in
I have an almost 4 month old boy and his sister, who is 3 years older than him, almost to the day, lol. Can't wait till either of them gets big enough and strong enough to want to do the sports thing. My daughter tries but she is so tiny it is kind of funny. She is getting there though... Only thing is she swings from being the total girly girl to a tom boy every other week. I guess she has a few more years to figure out what she likes, lol.
Quick, I can relate to the family thing. My nieces and nephews... All they care about is video games.. Or they want to ride my quads around when they come to the farm. Yeah, a 9 year old on a 500 cc quad... sounds like a good idea to me. The one nephew used to love baeball but he has hit the 12 year old range of skateboarding and playstation and is basically one of the most sullen kids I have ever known. Smile... please... Oh well, kids will be kids, I just hope that mine are the sports loving, outdoors loving type kid I was growing up.. Not that I didn't like video games too but everything in balance if you know what I mean. I got the package... pretty nice but why didn't Justin Autograph the HNI hat? I want to watch the dvd's soon but need to make the time... Searching for a new 200 HP tractor... Fun. |

RE: Team XX check in
Hey guys, hows everyone doing? Great I hope. We have what you would call a blended family. My wife and I have both been married before, and we both have 1 boy each with our ex's, but none together. I have a 13 year old that lives with his mother in North Dakota. He spends 8 weeks of his summer here with us. He is into Skateboarding, Paintball, PS 2, laying on the couch, and EATING!!!!!!!![&:]And then my Step Son is 9, and he is into Skateboarding, basketball, PS2, and just hanging out outside. His dad lives in Tennesse, but he only spends about 3 weeks at a time down there when he goes. We live in Minnesota, so between sendinig him on a plane to his Dads, and driving to North Dakota to get my Son, our summers are crazy.[:'(]

RE: Team XX check in
Hey how is going. I have a little girl she will turn 2 the 20th of this month. She is really fun right now and always wants to be outside with her dad. I love every miniute that I get to spend with her. Here is a picture of her from a while back this was last fall. I will have to upload a new one to show off.
Troy I can't wait to see the video of all those nice bucks. I hope everyone is having a great summer. Talk at you all later. William |

RE: Team XX check in
Hey Guys,
William, sweetheart of a daughter you have there! Its good to see everyone, dang guys before we know it we are gonna have to strap the belts on tight and defend out title! I took my boy Jess out tonight glassing. We saw 4 bucks. Same ones we've been seeing fairly close to the house, just young fellers. Got my cat all fixed up and was able to work all day today :D. I have been clearing a big food plot site for a friend/logging too. We have ridiculous underbrush here. Some of it is 15-20 feet high. We have to doze it, plow up the ground and get all the root systems out, then disc the ground...rake and seed it..Had a bad thunderboomer fly over today, I was keeping my eye on it thinking I had better get off my machine when BAM! a big ole lighting strike hit out in front of me about 500 yards. I bailed and waited out the storm. Its good for the crops though. I'll have all the engraving done this weekend. Thanks again for getting me your addy for the 20th time guys! :DI finally copied and pasted them here on my home pc. Well guys have a good one, I doubt I will be around until next Monday or Tuesday. Enjoy your weekends. Troy |
RE: Team XX check in
Man, Hoosier - she definitely must've got her good looks from her mom. J/K ... and IL - have you been playing with your daughter'sRainbow Fish again?
On the hunting front - I went spotting last night. It didn't really get good and dark until 9:30, and most of the deer that I saw were too far out in the fields to check. I did see one really good buck on the property that I hunt. He looked to be a mainframe 5x5, well past his ears. I'd guess 20" outside. We saw about 10 other buck, most of which were scrub 6-8 pointers. One oddball looked like he had an antler that was curled back over his ear. I took a few pictures on the camera bino's, but they're too dark to see. Not a bad night, but I was expecting more. We didn't get to stay out very long, so... better luck next time. In other news, I dragged outthe bow and target last night and put on the practice muzzy head. [ol][*]20 yards - dead bullseye.[*]20 yards - dead bullseye.[*]30 yards - bullseye.[*]30 yards - bullseye again. [/ol] That was it for the bowshooting. No reason to mess with anything. BigDaddy - next time the boy's in town, go play paintball with him. That's a BLAST. There are paintball parks all around that rent guns. Make sure to play war in the woods. They call it "woodsball." Speedball sucks - that's what they play on TV. Too much shooting and not enough hunting. Woodsball is like hunting - totally awesome. |
RE: Team XX check in
On the paintball thing, are the wallyworld guns any good? It looks like fun, but I can't see spending $500 bucks for a gun that will lead to a $5K emergency room visit. [8D]
|
RE: Team XX check in
My boy says that the guns at wally World would be fine, he has one that he only paid about $60 for, he thinks you could get one there for around $100 and it might even come with the helmet and some other stuff. We might be going on Sunday to play woodsball for the first time this Sunday, I will let you know how it goes.;)
|
RE: Team XX check in
So, you animals have any tied up this year or are you going to live the curse of the previous years winners, what was it team so and so?
![]() |
RE: Team XX check in
Quick, the rainbow fish memory game... Yes, I have:eek:.
Rob, I plan on matching or bettering my contribution from last year... Going to be tough but I think I can do it :D;) |
RE: Team XX check in
Well...by reading the last three pages of postings, it sounds like everyone is doing just fine. I've been getting in a little fishing here and there (that is between work) and trying to hit the links a couple times a week. I have two little girls...five and two. My five year old started playing golf with me about two weeks ago and now that's all she talks about. When I go to pick up my bow, then that's all she talks about.
Friday, some guys I work with and I went over to Cabelas (Dundee, MI). They were having their summer tent sale and oh boy...I got some great deals on late season clothing. Of course you guys know how it is, you could spend fifty thousand in there without a blink of an eye. What's this about packages you're all talking about? I've seen nothing. |
RE: Team XX check in
You need to send Justin your personal information
Name Mailing address and shirt size. |
RE: Team XX check in
Yea sumhunter, he was looking for you a short while back.
I've been shooting a good bit lately, trying to be ready earlier than normal. had some issues tuning broadheads, got caught chasing my tail. Tomorrow I am starting all over from scratch. |
RE: Team XX check in
I saw a really nice buck behind my house this morning as I was leaving for work. He's out past his ears and getting some nice tines already. Looked like a 10 pointer, but its hard to tell with my cheapo binos. The good news...he was near the funnel and rub line that I hung a stand in last week. The bad news.....well, I have the nickname buttonbuckmaster for a reason.:(
|
RE: Team XX check in
Ahhh look at them all rushing in to sign up fellas. Everyone wants a shot at the big dogs:D
BBM you are due for a nice one then, nicknames don't last forever. |
