Well heres my update. Season has been open since last Saturday. I had my old roommate from college home hunting with me. I got him on a nice 4x4, real nice mass, 18" inside spread, and some good length on G2s, G3s, and brows.

I passed on 3 bucks yesterday. 2 of them were touching the 150" mark, I'm thinking I'm gonna be regretting that choice.....I know if I keep at it, I will find some of the ones I had located during archery season in the 160-170 range.

Well, I got a nice buck last saturday evening. I don't have the pics ready yet, but I will by next week. He's a real nice 10 point that is 17 inches wide. I still have to score him but I think he'll be in the mid to upper 120's. I'll get the pics posted as soon as I can.

i took my brother in law hunting by my tree stand yesterday... We ended up seeing the biggest buck he had ever seen while hunting... unfortunately I was in between him and the deer, and he couldnt get a shot! I think it would have been close to the state minimum b&c entry score of 160... Maybe I will see him next year as a 180!! lol... I can dream anyways.

Its all good man. I'm not sure if I am going to kill anything either. I have a week left, but I'm not going to shoot a buck unless he is a monster or a management type buck. THe hunting has been really tough here as well, but the snow thast moving in tonite might make things more interesting.

Well today marked the last day of the rifle season (buck season) in South Dakota. There is an extended doe season that is going to run for a whlie yet.

I did not harvest a buck this year. I passed on many nice bucks in hopes of a true monster, and I got jipped. Its all a part of hunting I guess. Next year!
