Hey Guys, back from camp for a day for Thanksgiving. Nothing exciting to report so far. Oh....well maybe so, but not in a good way. One of our guys killed a small buck on opening day that was sick, and falling down. The DNR is taking samples of the lymph nodes for testing on all the deer checked being checked in. Anyhow, it's a long story, but based on the condition of the deer, and the circumstances on how it was acting, the DNR confiscated our entire deerto test for CWD I sure hope it's not, but we haven't heard yet.

huntinwv...I sent you a pm. Yes you get 4 circ. measurements. I was estimating 145" from the pics and my guesses on tine length etc, but it's hard to tell everything from a pic. Let us know what you come up with. If you havetotal tine length 25"+, beam length 20" total circumferences 16" (est with the 4th measurment) and you said the spread was 18.5". That comes out to about 140" or so. Let us know what you come up with.

Regardless...GREAT BUCK for sure I bet you are one happy camper

TJF...thanks for the kind words. I hated to shoot that small buck, but I can't let them suffer. My 8yr old thought it was "awesome" to quote him...so it was worth it for sure. Now I just gotta gethis daddy with my bow

Good luck guys, I'll be back in town Sunday.

Hey guys, I'm back in town. We had a good trip. Killed about 10 or 12 total, a couple racked bucks, 4 buttons , and the rest does. My cousin got a nice 7pt that he is getting mounted. Not a monster, but a very respectable deer for where we hunt, and his biggest ever. It was alot of fun, we had 4 young kids there. My son was with me when I shot a doe, and also with my bro-in-law when he did as well. My cousin had his 8yr old son with him when he shot the nice buck. It was alot of fun for the kids. We did see a few nice bucks that no one got a shot at, so I know there are still some around.

Now it's back to the bow, and trying to get some points. I walked around my property on Thanksgiving day a bit and found a 10 acre section that was tore up. Must have been 100 rubs and some fresh scrapes. Best sign I've seen all season anywhere I've been. The season here where I live is buck or doe rifle season until the first week of Jan, but I'll be out with my bowmost of the time. It's tough here once the guns start cracking, but you never know.

Ok, sohas anyone heard from JoeJr? I never heard back from him aboutgetting his pic posted on the score thread. I know huntinwv told me he had to rescore his buck (and it will go up) and he will get the pics and score officially posted.

Anyone else having any luck at all? Heck post some pics if you got something, doesn't matter if it wasn't with the bow. At least we can have something to talk about.

Good luck guys

Well guys, I haven't had much luck this year bowhunting, but I did take a nice 10 point with my rifle last week. Also, my dad has taken two nice bucks this season so far. He took a great 13 point during muzzleloader season and just yesterday he took a beautiful 11 with his rifle out of the same stand. I've got pics and I'll try to post them soon, but first I'll have to scan them to a disc. I'll try to do that this weekend and get the pics up next week.
I did get a nice chance at a great buck with my longbow when I went on a special draw hunt in early November, but unfortunatly I hit a small limb that deflected my arrow into the dirt just short of the big buck. He was only 15 yards from my stand, with a compound, there's no doubt in my mind I would have sealed the deal, but it was a great experience none the less.
I've still got a month of bowhunting left and I intend to give it my best to connect on a nice buck before the season is over. We've got some real quality bucks on our property and I feel confident that I'll get another chance. I hope everyone else is having a great season! Good luck and hunt safe.

Hello fellow teamates!!! Thought I would check in and let everyone know what has been going on. Rifle season ended here on the 30th and we did pretty good at camp. 3 bucks 4 hunters. My father in law shot a 6 pt, nice deer and my brother in law shot a spike[:@]and a nice 10pt. It had a 15" spread with nice mass to it and was a good size deer. I will post some pics of it when I get them off my camera and shrink them. I saw only a few does and a spike.

Got out to bow hunt today for the first time since Nov. 14th and had a great morning. Had a spike come through chasing some does around and then at around 9:00 I saw as small rack buck just milling around about 80 yards away. Around 9:30 I had some does coming in and another spike then a tall spike 8-9 inches came in too. In total I had 9 deer in front of me at once but then, I choked on my saliva and couldn't help but cough and scared them away. They never saw me and only ran a little then walked off. Exciting morning to say the least, wish I could have coverd the cough cause who knows a big boy may have been learking in the bushes!!!

I also recoverd my treestand that was in a tree that was blown down from the big wind storm we had a few weeks ago. Remarkably, it wasn't dammaged at all and was very easy to take out of the tree!!! It was in a good spot too, I kicked up a few deer when I got into it.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and has some luck in the winter season. It was quite cold but I made it through with the help of good clothing and them remarkable hand warmers!!!

Made it out again this evening and wow, the deer were moving. I had two of the three spikes hanging around, two nubs, and 16 does and fawns that passed by. They must be starting their winter yarding and we have some thick cedar swamp on our property that they like to hang in. I will be taking a doe here shortly if the shot is presented for meat and always I will be waiting for big daddy. Hope to catch a glance at at least one shooter this year, even out of range. I will be out again on Wednesday morning, going to be cold but I am ready for it!!!!

john deer.....good to hear from you. Sorry you missed the big one, but hey you still have a month left to get some points. Good luck!

up...I guess I need to get you a cough silencer for christmas, huh? [8D][8D]LOL, that was probably the only time you ever needed it, so you should be good to go now! Hang in there, you'll get a good one yet! Can't say you ain't trying!!!

I went out Sat to an area behind my house that they have torn up. There must be 150 rubs and a bunch of scrapes in the area. Most of the rubs are small, but they have definitely been working the area over. I got up in my stand early, and about 7:30 had a pile of deer come through. Probably 12-15 total. I couldn't see most of them clearly, but I saw 3 bucks, the biggest a small 6 or 8....no shooters. About 6 of them including 2 of the bucks bedded about 40yds from me for 2 hrs. I hate that, and not to mention they were looking right in my direction. They never saw or smelled me, so I made out ok. I scouted a little on my way out and found a tree right in the hot spot. So I hunted there on Sat eve, but only saw a doe and fawn. I hung a stand there yesterday, so I can slip out there quick and quiet. We'll see. We still have about a month left here as well, though the later in Dec it gets, the fewer deer I typically see. We don't have any good real thick areas for the deer on my place...not like my neighbor behind me with the cedars. I think that is where they spend the real cold months.

I found a dead doe on Sat afternoon while out cutting our Christmas tree down. She had been shot way back, intestines hanging out. Couldn't have been dead an hour probably. My son and I drug her back to the house. I gave her to my neighbor, he was pumped.

Oh and I got a call from a buddy on Sat, he shot a 160 class 15pt in Illinios with his muzzleloader Not that it does us any good...LOL.

Good luck guys

Here is a buck from our camp this rifle season that my brother in law shot. I is a nice 10pt with a 15in inside spread. Very symetrical and nice mass, a good buck for our area.

Thats a nice one UP. About what I could expect around here if I got a good one.

So how is everyone is doing? Anyone still hunting? Haven't heard from alot of theteam in quite a while.I have not been out too much in the last 2 weeks. Been busy with work, and the weather has stunk. I did get out this past Sat evening though, but didn't see anything. Right now we have about 4" of snow with about 3/4" of ice on top. It makes walking anywhere tough because its soooo noisy. The only good thing is that once you get into your stand, theres no way anything can sneak up on you, LOL.

I saw plenty of tracks this past weekend, but no deer. Alot of turkey tracks too, which was cool considering I haven't seen a turkey at my house since summer.

I've got about 3 weeks left and plan on hitting it hard after Christmas, so we'll see.

Guys lets try and get our kills put up on the scorecard thread, so we can at least get credit for what we've taken so far. I think we still only have Woodline's deer registered.

Good luckto those of you still out there trying, and I hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas!

Don't forget, JESUS is the reason for the season!

God Bless!
~Mike

Greetings fellas-been a long time but been a busy season also-no luck on the big one yet but wanted to check in. I have passed on several Bucks & have seen some good Bucks-just that the BIG ones are staying in brush or out of range. This is a pic of one that passed at 10 yards this morning & BIG brother passed about 50 yards in some heavy brush. I have passed on 2 other Bucks larger than the one in this pic..
Anyway-congratulations to those that have been successful-all good Deer.
Have a merry Christmas-ENJOY your family.
Oh, I did take a couple hogs this year & a small 4x3 Elk so I am not without having some success.

Hey guys,
One last weekend for me to score!! I will be out there on Saturday morning to start and finish it up on Sunday evening. I will be putting some meat in the freezer if a doe decides to walk within shooting distance, maybe even two if I am not seeing any bucks. Been a slow year but at least I have the opportunity to hunt. Hope you all have a great New Year, I will keep you posted on the success of the weekend!!!
