RE: Official Team Buckstoppers! (19) Thread
I have not checked in for a while either but have nothing to report on. Went out on Thursday and didn't see anything until I was almost at my truck. Jumped up two doe. Went out Friday and got wet. Weather.com predicted rain on Saturday so I slept in only to wake up and it wasn't raining. [:@][:@][:@][:@] I wish I had a job making 6 figures were I was wrong all the time!

RE: Official Team Buckstoppers! (19) Thread
Sorry I haven't posted much. I have been hunting almost every night at the farm when my dad works. Where I am hunting its pretty much doe heaven. I usually have 15 to 20 does and fawns go by me every night. But I don't have a doe tag!!![:@] I have lots of little bucks go by me every night but not the big ones.
Tonight I just got back from another hunt and had a eventful night. Had the same amount of does like always but had about 10 bucks also. About five were little onesbut had a couple nice ones go by.They bothwere around the130 range and I debated about taking the one. One was a very clean 5x5 and the other was a high narrow rack 4x4. I was saying in my head just one more year because I'm aiming for a 140 or better class buck and I know there are a few in that area. Talk to you guys later and also goodluck hunting. PS At dark I saw a very wide buck but he was about 50 yards away. I know he was nice but I don't knowhow nicehe his but hoping to get a better look at him the next night, which will probably be tomorrow night. |

dagger buck 2
You weasel !! Passing up good bucks to try tobeat your old man!! ;) :D Seriously, I hope he does or gets a crack at Dagger.Dagger might not score as much as my buck but he is twice the trophy with the history we have with him over the years. Tyler is having fun while I am working.I am closing inon a month straight with no days off. He has been hunting the edge of thefarm a lot needless to say. Getting to see his smiley face and hearingabout his evening hunts while I worksure makes my long workday go better. Plus I have a doe tag I am saving forwhen things slow done on the farm. Then I am going to kick him out of his spot and get me one of those does!! He better hurry and get his buck causewe will be done with harvest in 4 days!! :D Your number one fan Dad |

TJF, a month straight???!!! Oh My!!! You are a brute for punishment aren't you. No wonder you have a beard...you are to tired to shave working all those hours... Not that it is any consolation but I feel for ya buddy... I felt a father's love in the words you wrote about your boy in the above post, I must say it was very refreshing. We need more fathers like that in this world... Hey, be safe for the rest of the harvest...don't get so exhausted you get careless around that equipment my friend... |

RE: Official Team Buckstoppers! (19) Thread
Hey fellas....just had a great 9 days at the farm by myself. Saw lots of deer...shot a doe. It was sooooo awesome!! My husband came and helped me track her. She went into some thick brush and this was the first time for me to track. I loved it. She went about 60 yards through thick brush and down into a little raveen and best of all I made a great shot....double lung!! My husband went home and I stayed for the week. Had a shooter buck come within 12 yards and could not get a good shot on him. He was chasing a doe in the corn field that had been picked the day before....I was in a tree stand in the back of the corn field....and they both came right into range. The doe finally took off and I was waiting for him to take just one darn step to his right.....he did not turn, but the next thing I knew, he put his nose to the ground and bolted off. What fun this bow hunting is!!!!
Hope the rest of the team is having a good season. |

Congrats on the doe MOM. It's amazing how far they can run after a double lung hit sometimes. Others times, they drop within 20 yards.
I got another lesson in taking the first available shot this past Friday. I was hunting some property where you have to take a doe before a buck. There is a monster out there that they have on video. Guessing around 190-200. So I'm in my stand and a doe is walking behind me. She comes up to a stream crossing at 35 yards. Perfect broadside shot for about 20-30 seconds. I figure she is going to cross the stream and give me a 20 yard shot so I hold off. Well she just turned around and walked away. [:@] If that monster walks by in a couple of weeks I can't shoot him until I get a doe. [:o] I'll be out again this Friday and maybe I'll get lucky. The deer on public land have been pressured a lot already so they are hard to find now. |
RE: Official Team Buckstoppers! (19) Thread
I'm back from chasing mule deer. They sure are hard to get close to. We seen a lot of deer and had a great time but never got close enough for a shot. It sure is some beautiful country out in the badlands of North Dakota. I'm going to hit it hard the next few days as our gun season opens on noon on Friday. I don't like to go out bowhunting during gun season. I got turned down for my buck tag for the gun season but I do have a doe tag I may use for my gun. Congrats on the doe Mom, I think a mature doe is sometimes harder to get than a buck. It seems like the does can smell you or hear you no matter what.

I went out last night and I shot a doe, it was a good sized doe :). I was in my tree stand and 10 minutes before quitting time I seen her coming down the trail. I only had about 10 seconds to grab my bow and get ready. She came right down the trail and I voice grunted to stop her. I had a 16 yard shot, it hit one lung and went through the liver. She only went 30 yards from where I shot. Now It's time to get the big buck. :D
