RE: Original Renegade
In any traditional style rifle, when ever possible, I always try to get a .54 caliber. Not that the .50 caliber can not get the job done mind you. I just believe that when shooting such things as roundball, the additional weight and even the small increase in the overall diameter of the projectile will make a down range difference.
I have four Renegades (although the nephew has his eye on one of them) and there is not a bad shooter in the bunch. Also none of them are the Renegade Hunter model that came out with the single trigger. While I have nothing against a single trigger, I like the double set trigger better.
The Renegade and Hawkins made by Thompson Center are my favorite in traditiional rifles although my Traditions, CVA, and Lyman are also excellent shooters and function perfect.
