Anyone shooting the 40 gr v-max in a 22/250?How do they shoot?
I have been useing 40 gr BT in a rem 22/250,so I decided to try some 40 gr v-max loaded up some with the same load as I was useing with the BT(34.5 gr 10-X) well I shot a few and one would hit the target board ,the next couldn't tell where it hit(100 yds),so I put up a clay bird in the dirt backstop to see what was happeniong,one would hit close to the bird the next would be about 10 ft from the first,Then I tried the 40 bt and shot less than a 1/2 in group,went back to the v-max and hit every where.You could see the bullets hit the dirt so I ruled out them blowing up,another problem the BT averaged 41 30 fps while the v-max I would get one at 3200 and one at 34oo but not one was close to 4000 fps.Took one home and pulled the bullet weighed the powder and was exacly 34.5 grs.
Going to change scopes and see what happens but myself and buddie shot a 3-shot each with the 40 BT and was 1/2 inch.and the 40 v-maxes shot the same for both of us.
Really got me puzzled.
