RE: Scrapes...
Remember a scrape is a signpost -
Deer select an area that THEY expect other deer and especially does - to frequent.
In my experience - the best places to expect scrapes are in "staging areas" downwind ofa food source. Think of an area of cover where deer will hang before they go to feed - and linger AFTER they feed.
The next best spots are on logging roads or brushogged roadways Through cover. You can enhance a spot by using cord to "pull down" trees to overhang a roadway. Also - you can clip away - branches that overhang - NOT WHERE you want them to scrape.
The next best spot would be on ridges - along well traveled deer trails.
