If the rifle is in bad shape, I would suggest sending the barrel off to have it professionally done. I tried to make a bad rifle good. While it looks alright, it is not a new looking barrel. The trouble with the pitting is you get all that cleaned out, and even though it take to a bluing, it is still mishaped.
