A lot of locals are buying a Charles Daly 20 or 12 ga for such purposes. They do well. I have shot them at a patterning board but that's all. They really like them and are seem to hold up, these guys really abuse them.
I have a Mossberg 935 and it is a good gun for the money but you don't need a 3.5 for your use.

May want to look up the Ch. Daly and see what you think. (the ones they are buying are camo, but it is a slick, semi shiny finish???)
