They aren't better shots if YOU missed making a clean kill.
Excellent ........ then the 103 yard shot that made a clea kill was a good shot !
If you've made the last 3 of your shots that close and only wounded the animal with no recovery then they weren't better shots. They were merely better presentations. From what I now know...your shots suck.
They were very good shots - broadside on one of them, quartering away on the other two - CLASSIC "good" shots ....... right ?
You need to learn the difference between a good shot, and a good presentation. They are two totally different things.
LOL ........ I "need to learn" ? I'm not a newbie at this game of bowhunting. I've notched my share of whitetails, bull elk and a couple of mule deer. Bowhunted going on 2 decades now, with crossbows, old compounds, new compounds, longbows and recurves.
You want me to tell you something ? A "good presentation" don't mean much. It doesn't. All that matters is that the animal is dead, and quickly.
I took a fantastic shot this year, a guy I know took what I would consider a very iffy shot ...... I lost my deer, he found his dead 200 yards away.
My good presentation didn't mean jack. His presentation didn't either ....... his arrow found its mark, mine didn't.
Yes, of course some shots are probably higher percentages than others ....... but more deer are lost every year to broadside shooting than any other IMO, the shots are "good presentations" and the end results are wounded deer.
BTW bustert maybe you should stop before you dig your hole to deep to get out of.
I don't care what anyone thinks about me. I hunt for my hunting, not for you, not for anyone else. My ethics are my own, I hunt for myself, no one else.
Use to be I would have argued that its VERY important to take "good presentation" shots ....... for the "good" of bowhunting. I realize now that with high fences, game farms, outfitters, and most importantly hunting shows that DO NOT represent the average hunters, and actually IMO reflect poorly on hunting, that I need not worry about a bad image.
Why ?
I'm in the woods, hunting my own hunt, I do the very best I can and thats all I can do. I'm a hunter, I kill animals - sometimes I wound animals, sometimes I miss them, thats hunting.
So tell me, ethical police, how can you call this guys shooting bad, when he killed his animal, and my 12 yard quartering away shot that ended in wounded animal good ? I had a MUCH better "presentation" didn't I ? The shot didn't go good though.
You can't. You can try and say I took a better shot, but of course the end results don't prove that, do that ?
