Another Rabid 7mm-08 fan here.. I am a fan of the 308 case and most of the cartridges based on it. One casing for NA. 243 for varmints, 260 for deer and antelope, 7mm-08 for deer and mid range elk, 308 for about everything, 338 Federal for elk and moose. Ditto the 358 Win The two latter ones will do for bears as well.
This is indeed the only way to compare calibers, keep everything else as consistant as possible, like using the 08 casing. All this tells you is bigger game bodies require bigger bullets.

Where's the 375-08 for Cape Buffalo?
