What in the freaking heck is a .284? Are you talking about the 7mm Rem Mag?

IMO, the 7mm Rem Mag would be a good choice in the Browning BAR Safari.

I like the .308 myself, though, and it shoots swell!
Sometimes posting your ignorance isnt always the best thing to do.

.284 is the measurement of the bullet just like a .308. A .284=7mm(metric) just the bullet not the cartridge size.

Rem made the 788 in 30-30. Im sure their were more but this was off top of my head.
