I use both. I usually describe a deer as a mainframe X with X# of stickers. Plus give the gross score.
if somebody wants that much detail I'll show them a picture!

now, if i were to shoot a big one, i would probably say # point with a ##" inside spread. i have never taken a buck big enough to care about the spread
Dan, that is exactly how I describe deer.When I talk to people about the size of the deer I see, they always want as much detail as they can get. Those are the kind of people I associate with. I'll even throw in a spread, mass and tine length measurement as well.[:-]

I admit...... I'm an antler addict!![8D]

Most of the people I talk to about my deer know exactly what I am talking about when I describe my deer. The only people I tell about the deer I shoot are serious trophy hunters.
