I was always very discouraged by the wind, until this year. I found myself with only certain days that I could hunt, so I had to hunt whenever time permitted, windy or not. I have grown to prefer a steady wind actually. At 15-30 mph, they will move, perhaps not as freely as on a calm day, but they still have to eat on windy days, so they will be around. Some of the best days I had this year was when the wind was blowing in the teens, especially since I was able to be very certain of the direction and plan accordingly. On those days when there is a very light wind, I was always more nervous of swirling, whereas when the wind is blowing pretty constant, it seemed to eliminate the very fast changes.
